All this whining over receptionists. Good grief! I was at Dr. Glazers office today. They are perfectly professional pro's. They must meet about 50 clients a day-exhausting job with a lot of hats in the air so I have tremendous respect. Hats off to Glazer and his office that works like a well tuned machine-This doctor is so professional and so is his staff. I came to him from a nurse who referred me. First I started by talking to his receptionist over the phone who was warm and caring and understood what I was going through (lost insurance due to federally mandated O.C.) told me exactly how much it would cost just for the visit part in cash. I waited about 20 minutes once I filled out paperwork and went into a room for only a few minutes. It was fast. They were not running behind. Even if they were it still would have been quality time well spent! Glazer saw my moles and said he could remove them and It was the price they quoted me and for 3 moles to be removed and a few check he charged me a reasonable amount. It didn't hurt and I can't believe I waited so long to have those ugly distracting things removed. Moles are gross! I'm checking tomorrow morning to see if my husband can get in Friday morning to get a few removed as well. We are now loyal patients as far as I'm concerned. I'm a skin junkie and so many other dermatologists didn't even want to remove my moles without charging me an arm and a leg for something so simple and fast to do. I will never go to another dermatologist as long as I'm in Chicago. Also I live downtown south side so its a haul to get up to Lake Cook Road but still worth it $$ wise. read more

I have been a patient at Glazer Dermatology for years. As far a medical care, I have always been very happy, but personally, I always found the office staff, well kind of uncaring and actually snooty. That absolutely changed today. The office staff was upbeat, friendly, helpful and very charming. It truly made the experience actually pleasant. As far Dr. Fretzin, I have also felt that he is an excellent doctor, but I realized today that I like him more and more with each visit. He is very no nonsense, tells it like it is, and takes care of business. Most importantly, just because I think something looks weird and it should come off, he lets me know if it is medically necessary to take care of it. Dr. Glazer is wonderfully patient, and knowledgeable. I have complete trust in him. The Med Spa staff doesn't get any better than Rachel, Lauren and Rose! They know there stuff. I have had hydra-facials, Mirco-needling, all with great results. If you have a chance to go to one of their Open Houses, Go! They are fabulous. reasons: 1) they do not return calls - if they do it's going to be after a week 2) the specialty pharmacy that they use - no one answers , they do not deliver at all. the medication that my don is supposed to have ehich we ordered more than a week ago is still not delivered. no idea where it is. 3) i was in the office with 2 kids. appt was 4:45 pm ee were called in 5:45 pm 4) they are not electronic therefore you eill need to bring your referral everytime 5) unfriendly staff overall we are not coming back. there are other dermatologists in the area never go to this one. read more

Today my daughter and I had an initial appointment at Glazer Dermatology. It took us 4 weeks to get in for a Saturday appointment. So we were ready to finally be seen. My daughter is a teenager and woke early to get there on time. Got there 5 minutes early to fill out paperwork. We waited in the waiting room for 20 minutes after our scheduled time. Then we spoke briefly to a nurse and then assumed after running 20/25 minutes late, that we would be seen immediately. Nope. Another 30 minutes goes by!!! At this point we are done and ask the nurse when we will be seen. She apologizes and says we are next. It will be 2 more minutes. We waited for 5 and heard the Dr start with someone other than us. Ridiculous!!! We left!! I do not have over an hour to spend waiting. The front desk staff or nurse should have informed us he was running late and given us an approximate time to be seen and let us know that we could reschedule for another day. We will be going elsewhere. A shame to lose business your own community. read more

I'm so irritated, the lack of professionalism in this office is disgraceful. I have been a patient for over 10 years and have gone in for everything, however this issue is over a topical cream for my acne. I currently am away at school and am unable to come back whenever i want for an appointment. I came in a little over a year ago and received a prescription for an acne topical cream. After having it for a year I went to my pharmacist to get my refill, where i'm told my prescription has expired! The pharmacy then sent in a fax to get my script refilled (EXACTLY WHAT THEIR AUTOMATED PHONE SERVICE TELLS YOU TO DO) and they denied my prescription. I called this morning asking about it and they refused to refill it because i hadn't been in, in a year (I HAVE AN APPT IN 3 WEEKS). They told me that they wouldn't refill it because i hadn't come in recently even though my appointment is scheduled. I would understand if this was a mind-altering medication or something thats even a possibility to overdose on, but its a cream with a hydrogen peroxide base! I was then rudely talked down to by the receptionist and decided to cancel all future appointments. The doctors may be skilled but clearly have no clue how to train their staff on how to be respectful. I found another dermatologist through yelp that had a decent rating and had the best service ive ever received at a dermatologist. Don't bother wasting your time here there are plenty of other qualified doctors that actually care about their patients. For a practice thats been around for a long time this is really disappointing. read more

I have had only great experiences with Dr. Glazer in the many years I've been a patient. I started treatment for adult acne, his skills are the only reason I'm not scarred. I have had biopsies, one leading to 10 stitches on my leg in which he kept me feeling safe and calm throughout. I go yearly for mole checks, do fillers when needed, been treated for itchy dry skin patches, and dark patches removed from my face and legs. I love he tells me the truth, I respect his knowledge and integrity, I highly recommend. read more

I was finally referred to Dr. Fretzin by a family member, and I'm still seeing him today! He is a truly caring and compassionate doctor who listens to his patients--not something that is easy to find! I will never go to another dermatologist, he is the best!! Been going here for many many years. The entire team helped when I was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma. Even the Drs in the practice that I have never seen helped me find surgeons, oncologists and discuss my diagnosis. I've also used them for cosmetic reasons and have had great results. I have to admit, some of the staff at the desk were less than friendly in one of the other offices, but I have noticed they are much much better in the last year. read more

The staff here were very polite despite the fact that they clearly had an excessive patient load. They were very accommodating and managed to work around their schedule to squeeze in my appointment before I had to go off to military training, which I am very appreciative of. My son, 13, has been to the practice for basic acne. He has a mass in his ear that the ENT, after two rounds of antibiotics, wants his to see a derma due to the ongoing mass. The office, rudely, said they can see him at the end of the following week. Really? the kid is in pain and cannot live on antibiotics. I asked if they can please put us on a waitlist if someone cancels and the receptionist says, "We are far too busy to have a waitlist" ... wow! read more

Being that I am time challenged I showed up one hour early (10:00am)for my appointment. This was a first time visit so I got to fill out the standard paperwork. This was only two pages which is not to bad and took me to 10:15am. To my surprise within two minutes the nurse called me back to a room, five minutes later Dr. Gazer was talking to me and performing a scan of my moles. He did this a little quicker than I expected bud did point out a couple of moles that were not a problem now but to keep an eye on them. I showed him the mole that had me concerned and he had seen it and was not real concerned but we could remove and test it if that would make me feel better. So he left the room his nurse Susan came in and explained everything that would happen in the next ten minutes. We went to another room, two shots and a scalpel later the mole was gone. 10:45am and done. I found everyone to be very matter of fact and got everything done in a timely matter. If you looking for humor and a lot of personal interaction this might not be the place for you. I liked it. read more

I hit my head and needed stitches on my face. I am/was a patient here and called asking if they do stitches. I wanted a dermatologist as the laceration was on my face. The front desk said that they do stitches, but were full for the day. I explained that this was an emergent issue as stitches need to be done within 24 hours and to please ask if any doctor would be willing to fit me in. I was told that they would not treat me, regardless of the situation. They made it perfectly clear how little they cared about their patient. I'm still astounded. read more

I saw a doctor here for the better part of 2 decades. The "treatment" he issued me was a shot of a kenalogg steroid, for almost TWENTY YEARS. While the treatment definitely was effective in calming my flare ups, steroids are NOT meant for long term use. Whenever I brought dietary questions or natural remedies he would tell me if I wanted to "diagnose myself on the internet, go elsewhere." Well, last June and July he gave me back to back shots during a flare up and in September my hair started falling out. When I called to make an appointment about the hair, they no longer took my insurance. Well, she told me they hadn't been taking my insurance for awhile now, but they could no longer afford to write off the differences. WHAT?! Shady business if you ask me. I ended up finding a wonderful doctor who prescribed me a light unit and I no longer flare so bad that I need an emergency doctor visit. It was a blessing in disguise to have had this horrible experience. These doctors do not treat skin health, they treat the symptoms without any concern for the root cause of what is making your skin sick. If you're coming here for purely cosmetic reasons, you may be fine, but if you're actually concerned with the health of your skin, PLEASE go elsewhere. read more

I've have eczema since I was a baby and have been going to Dr. Glazer as long as I can remember. I'm now 26 and my insurance isn't as good so I went off a topical steroid(clobetasol propionate) he had me on FOR 15+ YEARS. I've done more research than you can imagine and come to find out you aren't supposed to be on a topical steroid for more than 2 weeks at a time without risking adrenal gland suppression/cushions syndrome. I was NEVER informed of this. Not once. All I was told was it could "thin my skin". Due to Dr. Glazers negligence, I am now going thru topical steroid withdrawal. My body is on fire/itching down to the bone and I've developed many contact allergies over the years due to my skin barriers natural defense being obstructed. I'm currently waiting to get patch tested at a highly recommended office in Northbrook and have since switched my dermatologist all together. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND DR. GLAZER TO ANYONE! read more

I've never written a review, but I downloaded Yelp just to write this. This place is awful. If I could give negative stars I would. Even though I have insurance and my doctor had faxed over a referral weeks in advance, they refused to see me because apparently the referral was at their "other office". - Maybe. I was on the phone with my doctors office and they 100% guaranteed the referral was sent. But that didn't matter. They refused to see me even though my doctor said they would fax it AGAIN in the morning. They refused to call the insurance to verify and even when the receptionist asked the doctor, they refused. I was told that if I wanted to be seen and keep my appointment I needed to pay out of pocket that same day. What is the point of insurance then? This was the stupidest thing I've had to deal with in a really long time. All they want is money. It's all they care about. I could have been bleeding to death in their office and they would have waited until I gave them "CARD or CASH". I don't recommend this place to anyone with an actual soul. read more

Glazer Dermatology is the best of the best. My family and I have been seeing Dr. Glazer for many years as my children dealt with teenage acne and I still go for yearly skin check ups. Dr. Glazer is brilliant and always has time to explain and recommend needed treatment. I have never felt rushed. His nurses and staff are obviously busy in this bustling office, but very kind and helpful. I recently participated in a study at this office and had a weekly appointment for ten weeks. My nurses were Paige, Carol and Loren, three phenomenal employees and the perfect people to handle the participants in this study. It became a pleasure to come in each week, instead of dreading another visit. Was recommended by insurance and honestly was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a doctors office. Left crying because I was frustrated that the doctor spent not even 10 minutes with me. She gave one look, saw a scab from a cut from my dog, and just assumed from there. Didnt even acknowledge my allergies or eczema. It's been 3 months since the appointment where she gave me an antibiotic to see if it would work and haven't heard back for a follow up or anything. The front desk staff was hectic and very rude.
