It can be really difficult to find a business you truly trust these days, and this one was such a pleasant surprise. Everyone that works here could not be nicer or more helpful. My husband and I have an older car and it was treated with the utmost care and respect. Their pricing is extremely reasonable and they have always provided a clear explanation (and oftentimes a demonstration) of the labor costs and why the work they are doing is necessary. I visited this Shell station to get my car inspected. I had just had my oil changed and car checked at my regular mechanic in Springfield (Rolling Road Sunoco) less than 6 weeks earlier, but Glebewood Shell was closer and more convenient so I stopped by there on a weekday morning expecting a smooth and quick inspection. I was in for a rude surprise. After waiting about an hour, I was told by the employee that one of my brake pads was so thin that the car failed the inspection and could only pass if I had the brake repaired. They quoted me more than $500 for the repair. Again, I was very surprised because my brakes had just been checked by a reputable mechanic not long before. I ended up just paying for the inspection and then driving the car to my regular mechanic in Springfield to look at. As I suspected, the brake pads were in perfectly fine condition and didn't require any repair. I had the car reinspected at the gas station in Springfield and the car passed. I called Glebewood Shell and told them that it appeared that they had fraudulently failed my car and they refused to even refund the cost of the inspection or admit any wrongdoing. I then called the Virginia Sheriff's Department and a sheriff's deputy checked the car and affirmed the work of the inspector in Springfield and cited Glebewood Shell's inspector. He also mentioned to me that this is not the first time the inspector at Glebewood Shell has been issued a citation for fraudulent inspections. STAY AWAY UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SCAMMED! read more

I have a 2005 Porsche Boxster that I have repaired at Glebewood Shell because they do extraordinary work to make my car run like new.Moreover, their customer service is exemplary. I am never ever treated like a "little old silver haired" lady with a Boxster she needs to drive more often. Marc and Tony research every issue, and fine solutions that not only work, but save me money. When my convertible top didn't work, and the estimate to repair it at the dealer was $5,000, these men found the issue and repaired it for $1,200. I strongly recommend the men in this shop. Today was the last time I'll ever go to this Shell station. I used to have my cars serviced here back in the day, but haven't done anything other than get gas lately because I've got a new car under warranty. I've even recommended this service station to people in the area. Not anymore. I have what I believe to be a leaky tire. So I swung by the station & went inside to ask if I could use their air hose. Reason I wanted to use theirs was so I could see what the t.p. was on each tire before I filled it up & see if that same tire showed low if/when next time I had a low pressure indicator. Tony was the guy I asked & his reply was "it's $11 if you work here or $1.50 over there" as he smirked & nodded towards the air hose off to the side of the parking lot. I stared at him for a few seconds thinking he was just busting my chops & joking. He just stared back smiling, so I thanked him & walked out to him saying "anytime". Now, I know they're not obligated to let me use their hose & completely understand if they would've plainly said no as I'm asking to use their equipment, but there's no need to be an ass about it. Top of the line honesty and labour costs I came to glebewood shell of the recommendation of a friend and they did not disappoint. I ended up needing a very niche clock spring and they were willing to help me find one for a deal not only that, but install one for a price significantly lower than every other mechanic i discussed with. honestly, they were about 40% lower on labor than anyone else in the area (Falls church to Reston). After i got it they also installed literally the next day without prior warning. They are honest, and helpful and wanted me to get the best deal and i feel comfortable knowing if i bring my car there then i am really getting the best deal, with great quality installation. read more

Ryan, shop manager, was very straight forward with me and kept me in the loop during the diagnostic process. As the people before me have mentioned, this location consistently seems to have the cheapest gas in the area. I give this Shell gas station and service garage five stars not only for the cheap gas, but for the prompt service, honesty, and not only fixing what it is brought in for but letting me know of any other potential issues. They also have really low rates compared to other service shops in the area in my opinion. I never thought about going to this location because there were other mechanics I usually went to, but they had some technical issues so I ended up coming to this location. I have got my inspection done here as well as exhaust work and they under promised and over delivered and even pointed out some rust and some bad mechanical work done by a friend that wasn't a problem but just something that I should be aware of and I appreciated that. Also, I was charged an extremely reasonable rate to have my car looked at which was credited towards the actual work done on my car. If you are looking to have any work done on your car, I highly recommend this service garage as well as the other garages positively mentioned in my reviews. read more

Giving this place a five because of the friendly service. Came here today for emissions / inspection. When I parked an older guy came up and instantly addressed me which was awesome. Told him what I needed and asked me to park to the side and just wait a bit for him to be finished with another car. The guy inside the little shop is pretty nice as well, it's usually the same one there most of the time but he's polite and will answer any questions you have. (I'm from New Jersey so filling my gas up myself was a different experience, I know how to, I just wasn't aware of paying for the gas before or after I filled the tank.) I have a 2002 Subaru outback and I am a person in my seventies. My car was having issues in the past days and I brought it to Glebewood Shell Service where I have been going for 10+ years. Why have I been going there? Their service is exemplary and they go out of the way to help. They also explain in detail what is wrong. Because it was going to take several days before I would have my car back --- they had to order parts --- they offered me one of their cars to drive. I refused because I do not feel comfortable driving a car I do not know. But they drove me home. During the repair period they regularly updated me on the status of affairs. The guy fix the lights of the plates that apparently were off and tell my wife she could not look and make her leave the garage, my wife stay under the rain making sure the guy (who obviously did not win her trust) was doing anything else to the car. Just got my state inspection done. The other place I called said it would take 45 mins - 1 hour. On my way to the other place I saw this station and asked how long it would take for an inspection and they said 15 minutes. Needless to say I was in and out. Although I do have a brand new car so I already knew it was going to pass. I just needed the sticker (I'm switching my tags from another state). The reason they got 4 starts instead of 5 was because the guy told me to pull right up however they continued talking as if I wasn't there. I sat for a few minutes until I had enough and they got out of the car to ask them questions so they could get a move on inspecting my car. read more

Under new management and with a new team in the shop and they are great. The problem with my car was quickly diagnosed, sound advice was provided on the best option for repair and when a glitch was discovered they worked a solution that saved me buying an expensive part. The front office is helpful and keep you fully informed of the progress, the shop is knowledgeable and efficient and the (new) management is friednly and easy to work with. The added bonus free of transport home while the repair was being completed made this a first class experience. How good? Careful with the mechanics here. I took my car in for a State Inspection and they said I needed a new engine mount and a replacement tail light. A week later, the engine mount makes a rattling noise and my tail light indicator turned on on my dash board. I hope they didn't suggest unnecessary repairs, because it seems like if anything they've made it worse. Update: They fixed my car in 15 minutes, Nascar pit crew style with three guys working on it while it was still running. They have redeemed themselves, somewhat. read more

They are solid mechanics that give you price and suggestions in a straightforward manner - not something you find in many places. I am a fairly new customer, but have been taking my car here for about 6 months. Every time I come in the service is always explained to me before anything is charged or billed. They have excellent customer response and really have made this a warm place to come to. The whole environment is really friendly and very out most helpful when asking any questions. The length of when you will be waiting on your car really depends on what it is you are getting done. I can say that every time I have dropped my car off I have been in and out in less than 45 mins. They are extremely honest and up front about everything they do. It's really hard to find a trusty mechanic, but at Glebe wood shell you are acknowledged and treated very well when you come here. The whole staff are is relatable which makes the experience that much better than a normal shop. The number one thing that is key here is there great customer experience. Glebewood Shell Service is also known as Glebe Auto Service. I went in for a state inspection and also because my car had been leaking oil. The car was put on a hoist, and I was shown exactly where the problem was occurring. I was given an estimate for parts and labor. The price was very competitive to another place I checked. The work was performed that afternoon at Glebe Auto Service. The owner showed me the old parts which had been taken out. He gave me a one-year warranty. Highly recommended! read more

Here is a summary of what happened: - I dropped off car on monday morning for inspection and emissions test. - I had to call to check on status and was informed everything was complete. - I picked up car monday evening and only inspection was done. - I dropped car back off on tuesday morning for emissions test. - I received no call on status of car during the day. - I picked up car on tuesday evening and was told emissions test not completed b/c their machine was broken. Seriously? So why didn't they tell me all this on Monday or even Tuesday morning? To make matters worse, they didn't even know where my keys were when I picked up the car Tuesday evening. I literally never write reviews but I had to for this one. If you check out the reviews from this shell they are great because they were over 4 months ago. Shell now has new workers, new membership, and new ownership. I have had terrible experiences with the service at this shell. The management is absolutely terrible and very unprofessional. They were rude to me and not friendly at all. I had come in a couple times to get an oil change and each time they told me it'll be several hours until I can pick it up. They told me to make an appointment but when I do they tell me to come in whenever and the same thing happens. I would not recommend this shell to anybody for any services besides gas (since you don't have to deal with management) read more

Cheapest gas on the Lee Highway strip of fast food, gasoline, and pizza. The exxon across Lee competes well price wise, but that's harder to get in and out of than shell. They sell lotto tickets too, huge plus. read more

I brought my jeep to do the emission test- and everything was smooth and i was happy with the whole process and speed etc- then i asked if i brought my corvette as its a low car to ground, will it hit the ground when driving it in and they confirmed not- so i went home and brought my 2016 corvette and the guy who does the testing was very excited to see my car which is normal and because it is manual shifting, i knew it will be difficult for him to drive it up inside the testing area so i offered and asked him if i can drive it up and he said No he will do it! Fine, so i left and guess what- he scratched the car while taking it in and also out (the bumper hit the ground as i have some stock bodykit on it)!!! And the car is very new have done less than 100 miles and costed me above 95k!! Not a good experience at all, the worst thing is even after this happened, no body really cared read more

Of course when you are in a rush, your car starts to act up. In my case, it made all sorts of horrible noises on busy Lee Highway. Seeing the Shell sign across the street while cars attempted to go around my car, I called them up. Within minutes, a friendly, professional and super helpful technician gets to my car and does an assessment right there before getting it to the station. Sure that they would find something quite costly, I was pleasantly pleased to find it easily resolved and I appreciate finding a new mechanic shop when I need one in the future! read more

Went in for a state safety inspection, it was a last minute resort to come here since I realized my sticker had just expired and I didn't have time to go to my usual mechanic who is further out from where I live. If anyone decides to come here I recommend you to be THOROUGHLY AWARE of what condition your car is in... the mechanics here will do their best to scare you and up-sell you for services the car doesn't even really need or that do not cost as much at other shops. I'd also recommend keeping an eye on the car while they're working on it. I have a new car and still they were able to find a problem that only they could fix at that moment, if not, I wouldn't pass the safety test (the license plate light was apparently out), after that I stayed with my car and the mechanic just insisted I go back to the waiting room while they continued to look through my car. I stayed with my car in the garage while they continued the inspection and no other problem was found. So, summed up, I ended up spending $46 dollars -- $16 for the safety inspection, and $30 for a new license plate light bulb (which I didn't need to start with). Wish I had the time to have just gone to my usual mechanics. read more

The lift gate on my SUV would not stay shut using the auto-button - had to manually push it down; also my check-engine light was on. Glebewood Shell told me it would be $500 to fix the lift gate latch and I needed to replace the thermostat for the check engine light. I also paid for an oil change. When I indicated that I would hold off and take the car for a second opinion, they charged me $89 for the check engine light "diagnostic" - a procedure which I believe costs nothing and takes 3 minutes. They charged me $99 to "diagnose" the lift gate problem. So basically I paid $322 for an oil change. I took the car to the dealer who told me the problem with the lift gate was the right sensor strip and they fixed it in 5 mins. for free. Glebewood was correct about the thermostat and the dealer replaced it for cheaper. In addition, they seem to advertise that they'll drop you places after you drop your car, but that didn't happen.
