Update 2026 - Oktoberfest at Schnitzel Platz…read more It's official. Celebrating Oktoberfest at Schnitzel Platz has become a tradition for us. Live music, dancing, interactive fun, flowing beer, and hearty German food, honestly, who argues with that combination? The place transforms into one big cheerful party where strangers toast like old friends and nobody leaves quietly. This year was extra special because it was my sister's, from Buenos Aires, first time experiencing the festivities , and she absolutely loved it. She left with a full belly and a few loud, happy memories that will probably resurface every time she hears an accordion. Service is always upbeat and fun, keeping pace with the festivities. The food is heavy in the best possible way, comforting, flavorful, and exactly what you want when you're raising a stein. Prost to traditions worth repeating.

We came on a Saturday night and it was my 1st time dining at Schnitzel Platz and I don't have a lot…read moreof experience dining at German restaurants. Our server was very attentive and was able to answer all our questions we had about the menu. She definitely helped us decide on what to order. The menu is extensive with so many different kinds of Schnitzel to choose from along with a variety of entrees like pork shank and pork chops. We first started with the sauerkraut balls as an appetizer. These deep fried sauerkraut and smoked ham balls were served with a honey mustard like dipping sauce. Absolutely a must try. We also ordered a half order of the German potatoes pancakes and they were the best I've ever had. So light and crispy and we ordered a side of sour cream and apple sauce to complement the pancakes for extra up charge. For our entrees I went with the pork chop zingara. It was a healthy portion of breaded chops topped with mushrooms and tomatoes with ham. We chose the green beans and bread gravy as the sides. Absolutely delicious and plenty to take home as well. The also ordered the Deutsche Haus Platter - Breaded pork schnitzel, frikadelle (German chopped steak), assorted sausages. Served with home fries, red cabbage, and sauerkraut. You can substitute the sides if you want but kept our order as is and so glad we did. The home fries were really good. The entree was a great way to try a little of everything so I know exactly what I'll want to try the next time I come which I home will be in the near future. All the entrees come with soup or salad. We got the soups : the goulash and liver dumpling soup. The goulash had a kick from the paprika but it was very hearty. I am not a fan of liver but it was good too and the broth was rich. Schnitzel Platz offers great hearty and comfort German food with a very fun atmosphere filled with live music. Nice selection of German beers on tap too. The service was also great.

    Edelweiss Restaurant - Sausage Sampler

Last night we celebrated a birthday at Edelweiss. If you stick to the sandwiches and salads…read more($14-$18), it can easily be an affordable weekend night out--but with so many amazing choices on the Edelweiss Signatures menu ($28-$35), it's hard to resist! The layout is great: an inviting biergarten on one side, an interior bar on the other, and a large main dining room with classic Bavarian decor past the hostess stand. We started at the bar, where I tried a non-alcoholic Clausthaler (which reminded me a bit of Heineken), while a friend ordered the massive 32-ounce "big-as-your-head" Hacker-Pschorr Weissbier. Since the weather was perfect, we sat outdoors in the spacious biergarten, which easily accommodates groups of any size. We started with the Sausage Sampler ($18)--a trio of sausage served over sauerkraut (the kraut was so good on its own you definitely shouldn't skip it). For mains, my husband chose a favorite, the Stuffed Cabbage Rolls ($28), which did not disappoint. Our friends ordered the Beef Stroganoff ($28), Jäger Schnitzel ($29), and Rouladen ($30). I opted for the Bayerischer Schweinshaxe ($35)--a 3lb roasted pork shank that turned out to be the absolute best value on the table, as it was easily enough for four meals! For sides, the cucumber salad was refreshing and tangy, the spätzle (a German take on pasta) was perfectly tender, and the vegetable of the day (sautéed summer squash) was flavorful and satisfying. We ended the night by sharing a huge slice of German Chocolate Cake. To top it off, our two-person service team was fantastic--constantly keeping drinks refilled and clearing plates to keep everything running smoothly. Highly recommend!

German-American cuisine is an appropriate way to consider Edelweiss…read more Granted, take the salt with me saying i come from a German family so we can be wanting for traditional meals, so keep that in mind! First we can talk about the restaurant itself, very big! Huge bar when you walk in and tons of dining space, I can't imagine a day you can't get a seat for lunch or dinner so don't worry if you haven't planned ahead! The whole place is decorated very well and has a true feeling of Germany. Renee was our server and she was sweet, happy and incredibly attentive in a good way. She answered our questions and honestly we're very accurate. We started with a pretzel Ofcourse, it was fresh warm and we could have had two easily! I decided to try their sauerbraten, I will say, it's nearly not sour enough for me. It was on the sweeter end but I have a feeling they try to gear the meals towards more people Enjoying them, it wasn't for me however unfortunately The dessert was sadly another let down. My favorite cake is black Forrest and it was far from traditional. Overall. I will still give the restaurant a decent rating as I think many other people will truly enjoy the food here, but for someone who grew up in a German household, spent time in Germany and ate from the homeland quite a bit, it simply wasn't for me.
