I really want to love Glenshire Pizza since it's practically next door to me, but every time I have tried it over the years, I always regret it. The quality is super inconsistent, but in general has not been good, ranging from terrible to mid. Most recently, I ordered a Nashville hot chicken sando, but the ingredients are actually different on the menu and the order now -- I was expecting swiss cheese and instead got about a half pound of mayo! Like literally more mayo than the amount of cream cheese I would put on a bagel (and it was on both sides like that). The sandwich itself continually fell apart when trying to eat it, too, so even though the taste wasn't terrible (after scraping off all that mayo...) it was such a horrible eating experience. There are always issues like this -- you just never know what you're really going to get. Not to mention the chicken was so thin they used two patties for the sandwich instead of a single piece of thicker and high quality chicken, like you'd expect anywhere else. We've gotten pizza undercooked and burnt and drowning in grease puddles, penne when I ordered rigatoni, and lots of other sad problem food. If the business wasn't local, we would have stopped giving them chances long ago, but we held out hope for a long time and now I'm ready to just move on from what has proven to be a guaranteed mess. You also never know when it will be ready. I have no idea why they ask for your number to text you when it's ready because that hasn't come through on time even once. Tonight I got the message my order was ready to be picked up about 45 minutes after I had already been home with my food, so there really isn't a point to the system when it's that useless. The place itself is nice and I am sure the people are lovely, so it really sucks that I just can't support this local business. I've been thinking they would finally get their act together for years and unfortunately, it gets worse over time if anything. Really a bummer because we would all love to have a restaurant in Glenshire, and because all of the issues people have pointed out wouldn't even be that difficult to solve. I genuinely hope this becomes a place I can recommend one day, but there is a reason I avoid it at all costs despite being the most convenient option by a significant margin. read more

After a bike ride along the Truckee River I saw there was a pizza place near the end of the trail. We rode over about 2pm and the place was pretty empty as it was a week day and the summer crowds had left. I was greeted immediately and I told the guy we had a dog so he directed me to the outside covered deck. Looking over a beautiful pasture he brought us cold water and glasses filled with ice water. So refreshing on an August afternoon! Looking at the menu we decided to get the slice special, what a deal and delicious too. Our server Ryley, was so genuinely friendly and attentive. This is the best pizza in North Lake Tahoe. Dopo might deliver better pizzas occasionally, but they suffer in the quality control area and often deliver mediocre pizzas. Glenshire Pizza's crust and crispy pizza center is just lovely. Their brussel sprouts are great, while their calamari is only okay. read more

Happy hour it was! Was down the road doing construction and was craving a quick bite. My long time friend mentioned this place and thankfully i arrived before the slight rush. This is our favorite place in Truckee. Food is always good and they have a great beer selection. Yesterday we had salads, pizza and burgers. Our little one had a pasta dish I was happy to help with. How does this place stay in business??? The answer: local support. I'm guessing that everyone in the place lives less than a mile from the restaurant, and there's no other restaurant for several miles. And from that perspective its cool to hang out with friends and have a few beers while your kids are playing in the back, and you wait (too long) for your pizza. Our pizza standards are high so I wont ding much them for that. The pizza is OK, considering it is made on pre-fab dough/crust. The outdoor tables were dirty, the service was not great due to being understaffed. They were out alot of menu items. People were waiting 15 minutes to place orders. (One of the regulars approached me and with a grin he said "do you know about Glenshire Pizza? its a trainwreck".) Allie was the only bright spot with her cheery attitude and non-stop, ear to ear smile. read more

Highly disappointed with our experience last night. Ordered online via their form and paid 100$ for 3 pizzas. Specified extra toppings (pineapple and jalapenos!!) and our pizza did not have them. That was 5$ lost. We also specified "no mushrooms" which was honored, so I know they must have carefully read the order at least. Margherita pizza was missing the basil. Unfortunately we did not notice this until we brought the pizza back home and opened the boxes. I wouldn't come back here. Truckee has much better pizza options. read more

Funny I searched pizza on help and had a few choices I've never tried. Glenshire seems far out there but it's closer than west truckee from my house. A little different tasting. I'm going to try it a few times more. They were completely out of every soda except sprite. Garlic knots were not bread knots but just pizza slices with cheese and garlic. Such a shame... it seems like new management took Over a few months ago. As a local family we would be there all the time and was our "go to" for picking up some food. Unfortunately under this new management the quality of food has deteriorated immensely and the costs have gone up significantly. Pretty much Glenshire is not even an option anymore... we'd rather just get a frozen pizza and not waste the money. The cheese pizzas at GP have so little cheese as what seems to be a cost cutting measure and the quality of the ingredients on other pizzas is definitely down. Plus charging $1 for a tiny container of ranch is highway robbery... I understand a fee, but $1... c'mon. The quality Of the overall pizza is so variable, it's not even worth it for the price. Stay away until management figures out how to get back to where they were. SUPER frustrating!!!! It has soooo much potential if they would just got back to what they were doing. read more

My family and I have been coming here for years (circa 2020)...and yes, service promptness can be variable, but have always had a very pleasant experience. The back patio is always our go to, and despite mother-nature be present (a fly or two here or there)...we just love the family friendly vibe and the cheerful waitstaff. We went to great gold hoping to sneak in without reservations but could not get in. We found this spot on Yelp and were pleasantly surprised. We sat outside on the deck and had amazing views of the mountains and pastures with horses. The service was very friendly and there were board games to play while waiting for food. The pizza was pretty good especially for such a casual spot. Overall a nice surprise in Glenshire. read more

I will literally travel to Truckee just for this pizza. It is that good. They have amazing topping options & the crust is incredible. Don't be afraid to order the Thai version, or BBQ chicken, or maybe even the pesto. They are happy to make half one-side & another on the other. The half Thai & half BBQ Chicken could easily find it's way to the pizza Hall Of Fame (is there such a thing?). I would have posted pictures but by the time it occurred to me, we'd already polished them off. Glenshire Pizza is off the beaten path, at least for us, but it was well worth the extra distance. We ordered three pies (Margherita, the Shire, Hawaiian) and you can reread my first sentence to see what we thought. I indulged my son which is why there's a Hawaiian but don't judge - it was fine. Their crust is my favorite type - thin with a little chew and a little char. I loved both the Margherita and Shire - the ingredients and toppings are both fresh and plentiful. We also ordered the House Salad which is not your standard lettuce, tomato, shredded carrots and cucumber. Their house includes romaine, kale, Brussels sprouts and dried cranberries. Head next door to the general store if you're looking for some great craft beers. This was a great meal! read more

"One of the best Caesar salads on planet Earth." The pizza is good, but if you really want a great meal look for the salads. That is their specialty. If you do order a salad be sure to add avocado. It really adds a grape flavor. I was in here in a large group, and the consensus was that the ambiance was outstanding. They get an extra star for those hop plants outside. Please note that I said hop plants, not pot plants. The food is good, but honestly the environment is probably the biggest selling point. Take a seat outside and look at the beautiful surroundings. I never give bad reviews, this is the first time, but it was so awful that I have to write this. Horrible customer service, disorganized and dishonest staff, you may not get the food that you wanted, and they will act like you're inconveniencing them instead of the other way around. We were told via text that our pizza would be ready in 6 minutes. When we got there, we had to wait 40 minutes. Staff repeatedly said assured us that it would be ready within 10 minutes. Turns out that was a lie: they had run out of dough, and for some reason they kept telling us our order would be made. One person told us "your pizza is in the oven", the next person told us "I don't know why she told you that, we ran out of dough." All our other food got cold while we waited. Then, they didn't know how how to do a refund properly, and we waited for another long while while they wrangled their cash register. But the real reason for the 1 star isn't even the above mistakes, it's that they had an absolutely rotten attitude about it, and became belligerent as we tried to work out a compromise. As someone who worked in food service myself, I understand that sometimes there are things beyond your control that lead to customers being unhappy. For that reason, we tried to be polite and cordial. Despite our best efforts, they kept escalating the conflict in their body language, responses and overall demeanor, rolling their eyes and telling us to "Yelp away." Again, I never write bad reviews - but this will be the exception. They were rude and standoffish, as it it was somehow our fault that we were waiting. They slammed the door in our face and I could hear the employee screaming "f--- off!" behind the door. Nothing we did warranted that level of hostility. A horrible experience all around. The food was OK but it definitely wasn't worth the wait. read more

I've been coming to GP for several years, and I don't have enough lovely things to say about it. It's a family-run business and the owners always recognize us when we walk in. They've got one of the best gluten-free crusts out there, and they're always changing up the menu. Their beet and goat cheese salad is one of my favorites, as is the (fairly new?) brussels sprouts appetizer. Whenever we have company, we try to be sure to pick up a couple Glenshire Pizzas at some point for the whole crowd.
