Yikes! We probably should have walked out when we walked in and saw that the entire restaurant was empty, save for 2 guys sitting at the bar. We were literally the only guests in there and it soon became obvious why...our server was slightly unintelligible. Like slurring her words and she didn't even know what was in their Caesar salad. I had to read off the menu description from my phone and she still seemed confused which was weird. She was nice but seemed like she was either drunk or high. The Caesar salad wound up being mediocre & didn't have Parmesan cheese. The owner responded to my review, saying that it was a vegan salad, but our server didn't know what was in the salad when I asked! And where do you see vegan anything at a steakhouse?! Cue the eye roll. Underwhelming. My child liked her plate of shrimp and fries so that was a plus. But you better believe my husband made sure to try one of her shrimp before allowing her to eat anything because this place was giving sketchy vibes. Glassware was dirty so I skipped drinking water and ordered a Peroni only to find that the bottle was covered in some kind of orange residue. Like someone got sauce all over it which honestly was kinda gross. Had to use my napkin to hold it. So I didn't want to drink out of the glass because it was dirty and then when I went to drink out of the bottle, it was dirty as well. Just ewww... The steak ordered was unimpressive for this being a steakhouse. The creamed spinach wasn't hot...All in all, I'd skip this joint. The prices don't match the service or quality of food. And dingy glassware when the restaurant was completely empty is unnecessary. As was the server who might wanna save the "extra curricular" activities for when she's not on the clock. UPDATE: just saw that someone else left a review from the SAME evening that I was there, and that reviewer also noted that the server was intoxicated!! Headed home (Sacramento) from up north (Plumas County)... it was coming up on dinner time so I scouted ahead for a good place to eat. This caught my eye and I assumed it was in Truckee, but realized it wasn't as I got closer. Not too far away from Truckee, but not what I initially thought. Northstar. I haven't been there in years! Probably decades. I was intrigued, so continued. Not being familiar with the area, I wasn't really sure where to park. There were lots of "don't you dare park here" kinds of signs and it was dark which didn't help... I did the best I could. ‍ I didn't get towed or ticketed so count it as a win. I got a fried shrimp appetizer, small caesar salad and petite filet. Everything was great! Shrimp were good quality, nice and firm, cooked perfectly. The filet was butter tender... great taste... done exactly the way I wanted. The salad was great too - I was pleasantly surprised that there were anchovies on top without me asking for them. I like anchovies, but many don't. Definitely a place to keep in mind! I love the Northstar village area... took a walk around the ice rink after eating... nice memories of visits long ago. read more

Since there is no snow, we decided to go eat! This is a new steakhouse that opened a couple of months ago. The restaurant is large, clean, and doesn't feel overcrowded. We stopped by for brunch and had a pleasant experience. The staff is courteous and frequently checked in on you. For a steakhouse in a ski resort, I think that the prices are very reasonable. We didn't have the main entrées so I look forward to trying the stake on our next visit. read more

My family and I came here for some lunch. We got the french dip, steak pot pie, and the BBQ chicken. The steak pot pie contained one piece of steak and was mostly carrots and potatoes. The french dip was alright. and the BBQ chicken was dry but the sauce was good (just tasted like a typical bbq sauce). The service was great! The guys who waited on us were very helpful and kind. The food was decent! I had the Thai steak & noodle salad. It had 6 bite size pieces of steak that were cooked really well. Tender and not chewy at all. But, the flavor was lacking and it came with more noodles and less steak than I was expecting. My mom wasn't a big fan of the shrimp and crab salad, but she's picky. The crispy potatoes were both of our favorites. The sauce was super flavorful and tasted nice. The service was not the best. The servers are really nice, but they took a while to come to our table and to give us new water. Overall, it's definitely overpriced, but it was a satisfying meal. read more

We had the coconut shrimp as an appetizer (unfortunately it came out when our entrees did) we had the crispy potatoes and creamed of spinach. Both of the main dishes came out cold. Tasty, but I should've read the description of the steak pot pie - it was a stew (wouldn't get again) The service was good, very nice ladies. Inside is very nice and comfy. The QR code ordering system was interestingly very nice and easy. It was very busy in there and it allowed us to get our order in quick. The staff were very friendly and our food came out quick! We came to the biggest Little steakhouse in Northstar, expecting a five star steakhouse. We ordered coconut shrimp for an appetizer, which was good, we both ordered the chard salmon, which came out more than charred. It was blackened beyond something edible. The waitress was very intoxicated while serving us. We ate the salmon with distaste and about 30 minutes after leaving the restaurant we were both throwing up our dinner. We went to this place last year while skiing at Northstar. We were not impressed at all but we went again this year simply because my son wanted steaks. This time was just sooooooo bad that the waiter messed up the order. He forgot one of the main dishes so my husband could not have his salmon. Also brought out mushrooms instead of mashed potatoes. Then the manager looking guy came apologizing that he will give us discount. When the final bill came out they charged us for mushrooms we did not even eat (we declined it since we never ordered it) and did not apply any discount. Service was horrible and to make things worst food was pretty bad. No wonder Rubicon (the restaurant near them) is all gem packed and this place is all empty. read more

The restaurant was empty and we should have taken the hint. The loaded baked potatoe was never delivered. The kids ribs sauce was significantly spicy. For a kids meal this should be clearly noted. We had to order an additinal meal for each kid and there was no offer to comp the ribs. One of the servers was very nice and one was just as bad as the food. I tipped the traditional amount specifically for the one who was very nice. Regardless of my review this place will be closed in a year. Take that bet to the bank. We had such a great dinner here. The filet mignon was incredible, perfectly cooked and so tender. The mushroom side dish was delicious, and the chimichurri sauce. I seriously couldn't get enough of it, It added the perfect flavor and totally elevated the steak. Service was great, attentive, friendly, and everything came out just right. They didn't have the beef pot pie the night we went, which I was really hoping to try... but honestly, that just gives us another reason to go back. We were excited to see a new restaurant heading into the winter season & bonus -- it's a steak house! Everything we ordered was great & prepared as expected. Even with a large group, ordering via the QR code was easy to navigate and it was nice to sit down and immediately be able to order without having to wait plus it seemed the items arrived quicker than if we have ordered thru a server. Service was attentive with bread service, refills and food delivery along with following up after we received our food and the management stopped by to make sure all was well too. The portions were generous with nice presentation. They brought out fresh chocolate chip cookies for the table as the end of our meal. The one star on this review is for our waitress, Mina, who was very attentive and hospitable. Unfortunately, the best dish we had here were the baked potatoes and those would've been much better if they didn't use packaged, pre shredded cheese and cheese was actually melted. Also, unfortunately, the macaroni and cheese was the worst I have ever had at a restaurant and the sauce tasted like flour sauce without any cheese. Also, it wasn't hot nor was the cash iron serving dish and it wasn't fresh. It looked like it was refrigerated and then tossed it into the microwave. To top it off, the macaroni and cheese is served with sour cream and chives on top, which is not at all standard and should be on the menu. The fries were very greasy and the bus boy started touching my plates before I said I wasn't finished yet. We arrived starving and we weren't offered any bread/butter just tap water in a bottle and alcoholic beverages. Also, this restaurant expects everyone to order at the table with a QR code online and doesn't give customers the option to let a waitress serve them. The forced QR code is similar to ordering on an app from a fast food restaurant. I couldn't even get the online ordering system to load on my phone. Also, a draft beer is $14 and the stall door in the women's restroom doesn't close. Needless to say, we won't be back and my stomach hurts today. read more

Super disappointed to report that this place does not live up to hopes and expectations. We have given it a couple tries but unfortunately there has been no improvement. The salads and sides are decent but the steaks themselves are really mediocre. I was shocked to see their prime rib - it literally looks like a slice of roast beef and worse yet, they can't seem to get the doneness right. That is unacceptable for a steakhouse. You order through a QR code and while that sets expectations for an efficient experience, in reality it took close to 30min for any food to actually arrive and no one checks in to see if you need anything during that time. My sister had the Pot Pie that tasted better than any pot pie I've ever tasted. The sides could have been meals themselves. So delicious. The service was attentive without being overbearing. Our family visited BLS when we were staying in the village, and we had a great experience! They have the QR code ordering, but you don't have to use it; you can place your order with a server. Our server Jordan was friendly and very on top of it. We ordered a variety of different things, and found the shareables to be a great deal! They would definitely work for groups of all sizes. It was clear there was a lot of thought put into the interior design and I appreciated the look/feel of the restaurant. Looking forward to coming back during our next stay in the village! read more

The beef Wellington bites are amazing and creative! The restaurant is relatively new in Truckee and the ambiance is nice and not too loud. Give this place a shot! My family and i made a reservation to try here over New Years holiday and the manager and wait staff were very friendly... that's the good. The rest was very odd to me. We were told right away that everything was done via a QR code which made reading and understanding the menu challenging as we were sharing phones, trying to make sure we accurately ordered, nothing was explained to us about cuts, portion sizes, cocktails, etc. We saw servers more as food runners than dedicated servers. My kids enjoyed their steaks but for the price point, to basically have been a self-service restaurant was very strange. I've seen the owners/managers feedback that this QR ordering is to improve transparency, but I really disagree that this is what it accomplished. When the bill came there was a service charge and then additional gratuity requested and, we didn't even have a dedicated server to tip. It was so strange.
