Reiteration Review Time: Global Grill So we did a early dinner tonight, since we were going to catch the 7:30 magic show at the Sanger. It's been a little while since we have been here, so I'm excited to see if this place is just as extraordinary as it was last time? I absolutely loved our little secluded table by the window. It was a perfect way to enjoy the evening and a meal with my amazing husband. CJ, our waiter, was absolutely fabulous. He waited on us hand and foot, even while working at least a 6 table section. Our beverages were extremely tasty, especially the house speciality jalapeño margarita martini. So why do a majority of us come to this restaurant? Tapas. They have so many options, then throw the specials on it, and it makes it almost impossible to choose. So we went with two on the menu and two off the menu. One after another they coming rolling out of the kitchen. This is by far some of the best tempera asparagus ever. I hate to say it, but this is the best tempera batter I've ever had. It stays super crunchy, even with this sweet soy glaze drizzled over it. Next comes the special of super fresh seared sea scallops, which were seasoned to perfection with an extra kick of extra pepper. I was not overly impressed with edamame hummus nor the spicy cream sauce the scalloped were served with, because it was bland. Another tapa on the way, the delicious swordfish with a succulent sweet cherry compote on top of these amazing cheese grits. I think the cream sauce of the side was almost the same as the last one, because it lacked in flavor. Lastly, and the real reason why we wanted to come back, was the lamp lollipops. They were extremely tender and good, but they lacked in luster this time. They seemed to be over cooked and not seasoned very much, but still they were good. The sundried tomatoes really added a good level of flavor and the couscous was delightful. So after all of these tapas, we decided to plate share their waygu beef special tonight. We even took half of it home, because I'm not leaving without dessert. The beef was extremely tender and had a delicious charred crispy seasoned sear on the outside. These mashed potatoes were absolutely smooth, buttery, and divine. The fresh veggies could have used a little extra care, but were still good. To finish off the night, we opted for the creme brûlée of course. It was perfectly smooth and light with a perfected crispy sugar coated topping. Overall Review: perfection on service (5/5) and food (4/5) some of our tapas just lacked a little luster tonight. If something is on the plate is should play a role and highlight the dish. I just found some of the sauces and ingredients didn't pack that punch tonight. I still love this restaurant and definitely have plans to be back in the future. read more

I had the pleasure of going to Global Grill last evening for my daughter's birthday. MAN...it did not disappoint. I have a restricted diet and JEN the waitstaff treated me like royalty, she ensured that my food was good, enough and met my needs. We sat in the smaller room to the right and it was so quiet and cozy. I ordered coffee at the end of my meal, usually I am a plant milk girl...they did not offer plant milk so I took the coffee black...THAT DIDNT DISAPPOINT EITHER. Upon walking in, the lady at the hostess table did not greet us or even look up at us, so we awkwardly stood next to her podium until she gave us the time of day. She was not a pleasant start, however, we were very pleased to find out that the rest of the meal was an entire 180 on the initial impression she made. Our waiter immediately came to greet us after we were served water. He gave us a very detailed and thorough explanation of Global, its owner, as well as how they source all of their produce, fish, and meats. His knowledge on how every dish was prepared and all the ingredients in each was astounding. Every item we ordered tasted simply fantastic, there were different accents and notes with each bite and the way each item was cooked, had obviously been perfected. Each plate comes out as it is ready, rather than waiting for everything to come out together; so everything is fresh and temperature appropriate to serve. The only complaint with some of the tapas was that they decide to make the portions in 3's rather than fours. Can make for a bit of a nuisance when it's just two people eating, having to constantly split the third item. We started the night off with the Tuna Cubes. This plate come with 6 large cubes of fresh raw tuna. The fish was very fresh, and the sauce made for a sweet accent on the end of each bit; my only complaint was I wanted more! We then moved on to the fried stuffed Artichoke hearts. This tapas comes in three, so we had to split the last heart between us. Each artichoke had a mouth watering interior filled with a creamy spinach center. The fried exterior was unlike any other fried taste I've ever had and was simply amazing. Our next dish was the Asian scallop tacos; again another plate of three. The flavor of the interior of the taco was honesty perfection, however the tortilla exterior was a bit hard. How they seared the scallop made for a brilliant texture, all while the scallop simply proceeded to melt in our mouths after the first bite. The tacos come with a spot of sriracha and a dot of avocado lime paste on each. Next we tried the pork medallions; this tapas oddly came in an order of 5. The medallions are aligned on a single dish covered in an almost Indian tasting sauce, which happens to be one of my favorite foods! (Tastes a lot like tikka masala flavored curry) on top of the medallions are sweet/ sour flavored berries. A bountiful amount of flavors in this one... each bite your mouth experiences a different texture and flavor. The medallions also were so tender that they pulled apart with a fork. Up next to bat were the baby Brussel sprouts. This was honestly the most filling dish we ordered and comes with a very large portion of food. The dish comes out in a gravy boat style serving platter with a heaping serving of seared Brussel sprouts and dangerously thick cut bacon cubes all simmering in a decadent sauce at the bottom. This was one of my wife's favorite dishes of the night, I however, am more of a carnivore. Next in the seemingly endless list of tapas, were the lamb lollipops; a trio once again. In terms of meat based tapas this was by far the best tasting. The lamb could be cut effortlessly with a butter knife, literally, since we were never given steak knives (I think as a point to show the quality of the food). They were cooked to just the right temperature and had a very soft warm center. The sun dried tomatoes that topped the lamb tasted like they were soaked in wine which gave a very nice accent to each bite. Least favorite part of this dish was the couscous; tasted very bland. Up next was my favorite dish of the night... the wahoo and grits. I had never had the privilege of tasting wahoo before, so I was very excited for this one. It was one of the nights specials so we simply had to give it a go. The dish came out with a hearty portion of wahoo sitting atop a savory portion of grits, topped with pickled cucumbers and a single pork rind, and dressed with a very tasty hot sauce around the edges. The wahoo was seared and fell apart with just the touch of a fork. The pickled cucumber shavings countered the hot sauce in a perfect way. By far one of my favorite dishes of the night! Last but not least, we ordered one of the other specials of the night, kabobs on top of blue hash. The flavor of this one was one of my favorites, however, it was so rare that it was impossible to chew threw each piece of steak on the kabob. I love my steak rare but the inside of each piece was almost raw and it made for a very chewy plate. The flavors that they used to season and cook the meat in was some of the best I've had on steak, just wish it wasn't so chewy at the end of each bite. The hash was nothing worth reporting on. Probably would have swapped this dish for the crawfish cheesecake in retrospect. read more

Slightly disappointed. My boyfriend just moved to Pensacola and I had seen this on Yelp. I heard the word tapas and I really wanted to try some. I thought of the Spainish dish tapas but was disappointed when I found out it wasn't. I stuck with some vegetarian tapas ( Brie and tomato olive dish). My only complaint was the large amount of balsamic vinegar on everything. The tomatoes were drenched in it and it was too overpowering. My bf loved the chicken cordon bleu. What a great place. We have been to quite a few places here in Florida, and this by far sets the bar for everyone else. Great location, beautifully designed layout without being too pretentious. Let's get down to the business of the food, which was so good, so perfectly prepared, that I savored every bite. I could not find a thing that wasn't done well or plated beautifully. We had guest in town last week and wanted to show them our downtown. I wasn't sure what their food likes were and I knew that Global Grill had a nice variety - something for everyone. We absolutely had one of the best meals out we have had in a long time. When many restaurants are starting to disappoint, Global Grill has seemingly kicked it up a notch! We had three tapas to get us started. Two of them were specials that weren't on the menu. All fantastic! For our main course, the seafood was fresh and creative. My buddy had a pork chop that he says is one of the best he had ever eaten. All of us were satisfied and impressed with the food quality, taste, presentation, and the service. Our server knew the menu backwards and forwards. She was able to describe the specials like she had created them herself. She did a great job. Oh, and the drinks and wines were amazing. The is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Pensacola! I make a point to come here every time I go to Pensacola Beach, it's located in downtown Pensacola but worth the drive. They take reservations, and I definitely recommend making one especially on the weekends. If you're only making a reservation for 2 people definitely request one of their more intimate table in the front by the window. Service is always friendly, knowledgeable and on point! The prices are fantastic and really worth every penny. I never pass up the "Tuna Cubes", lightly marinated fresh/raw tuna cubes served on skewers and garnished with sesame seeds. So clean and fresh, yet flavorful and delicious! The artichoke hearts stuffed with Boursin cheese and fried! To die for, but I'm partial to anything when it comes to artichokes.... and cheese for that matter! This time I tried the Brussel sprouts served with a warm smoked Gouda cheese sauce and thick chunks of smoked bacon. Delicious and a little indulgent, a little salty but I'd definitely eat them again The Yellowfin tuna hot tapas was also a smash! Global Grill is my favorite restaurant in Pensacola. The atmosphere is excellent, especially when they have a musician playing. GG serves specialty tapas, both cold and hot, with different cooking techniques emphasizing cuisines from around the world; hence the name. The menu is always changing and since the place is 5* good, reservations are needed. I'd recommend ordering 2-3 tapas to share (party of 2) and then splitting an entrée to get the full experience. The price of the tapas ranges from $6-$20ish (the higher end is the lobster tail wrapped in bacon) and the entrees range from $20-$40. Depending on your taste preferences, I'd recommend the lobster wontons with the honeydew ginger sweet & sour sauce. This is amazing and my only complaint is it comes with 4 and sometimes I am selfish and want more. My husband and I split the entrée, which is huge for one person to eat and GG puts the entrée on two separate plates with no splitting charge or sharing fee. Our favorite entree is the pesto crusted tuna (ordered rare/seared) which is seared over this creamy tomato puree and the best polenta cake. Even the next day, reheated in a microwave, the flavor profile is still in tact and the taste is succulent. The desert menu is awesome, however the only thing my husband and I get is the port wine sundae with berries. It is amazing, so much so that my husband and I get our own. On our last visit, 6/21/2017 for our three year anniversary, our waiter mentioned that we could switch out the ice-cream in our sundae for one of the specials that day. It is an extra charge, but depending on the ice cream of the day, worth it. I had the banana nut ice cream and my husband ordered the regular sundae to compare. I didn't think the dish could be elevated even higher, but it was with the banana nut ice cream. Several staff will deliver meals, refill drinks, clean plates.
