The Goats are back!!!!!!! You see some weird stuff on the Bay Trails and Goat covered hillsides are no exception. Ill paste in the previous review that has all of the background on the who and why's of this sudden goat invasion. Seems I caught them early this year however. Many were in the process of shedding their coats. Also the juvenile males, had staked out a section with mounds and spend tons of time jumping into the air and then head butting each other. Its like a fraternity party except its goats. ----------- SO if you have an hilly area covered with weeds? Or say way way too much poison oak on your land? Blackberry getting out of hand? You could get all traditional and fire up that carbon spewing mower or weed wacker. Get bit my god knows what bug? Or sit back with an adult beverage, turn on the game while someone does it for you........... In this case the someone is a goat or rather a whole herd of them WTH? I was on my usual bike ride and went careening down a corner smack dab into a herd of goats contentedly chewing away on a hillside. Ive seen them before in the same spot but I have never seen a sign. This year the stars aligned and I was able to find the owners of the herd in question. They have a fantastic back story and its detailed on their web page. Quite frankly I learned abit too much about the lives of the goats, dogs, and shepherds but I went to the site on my own volition. It is nice to see that the goats retire to the farm and don't end up at my favorite Jamaican restaurant when their grazing days are over. The goats help eliminate problems plants like poison oak, and cut down excessive fuel to help prevent wildfires. Plus they quietly go about their business with a minimum of fuss. I wonder if they are carbon neutral. I have no idea what kind of er....tailpipe emission they send up into the atmosphere but the fertilizer they spread has to be good No? The goats at present can be seen grazing about mid Sunnyvale Bay Trail on a hill that is not named. and I leave you with the FINEST hands down songs about Goats Wooly Bully Uno, dos One, two, tres, quatro Matty told Hatty about a thing she saw Had two big horns and a wooly jaw Wooly bully, wooly bully Wooly bully, wooly bully, wooly bully Hatty told Matty: "Let's don't take no chance Let's not be *L-seven*, come and learn to dance." Easily one of the best feed store I've ever been to. Best In the Bay Area hands down…read more Lots of parking. They breed their own chicks in house which is a huge plus as you get it straight from the source. You see the walk through of the roosters and hens as well, literally the parents of your birds and they're all extremely healthy. The hens are also labeled and you're given a zoo-like biography of each breed which is amazing for those starting out + for kids to learn. They have all sorts of breeds, literally breeds I've never even heard of. The hatched chicks here are given mareks vaccination in house + sexed at birth for most breeds except silkies and a few others. I love how the staffs make themselves known but just let you wander and live in the moment without breathing down your back. The prices for feed and items are overall pretty good, items are labeled for the most part. Selection is huge. Many of the items are not priced with a label so they are just ignored and not bought as you can tell by the dust. One biggest drawback here that made it 4 stars instead of 5 is the lack of pricing on some items and the chicks/pullets. Nobody has time to ask for pricing for each individual chick and the staffs don't have a list, they have to check manually for each on their register which is insane. Maybe the store management is too lazy to put the pricing? Maybe they priced chicks differently per customers? Who knows. Luckily the pullets has a pricing sheet and the staffs were amazing about it. Overall, I'd take your family here to buy farm item, feeds and learn about the breeds. If you have time to spare, you can ask about pricing for each or just buy elsewhere.

The chick we bought there as a replacement for the dead one also died. No one wants cdfa involved…read morenormally but they're the only ones who can rule out a disease outbreak. sixty six percent mortality within 48 hours. Go elsewhere for now. Edit, I got the managements attention. so, first, it was you guys who told us that the first chick we had needed vaseline on her anus as it might have a condition. Second, that is a cockatiel cage and that lamp is inches away. We are both ex phs workers who have had birds for decades. The reason I'm not calling the state is 2019 inland empire. it's more than just your business. However, it's now clear you may have a health problem that may rapidly expand.

I have been going to Ganado for 4 years now, since I got my chickens. They are a great resource,…read moreespecially since they are located in the Willow Glen area and close to San Jose, Santa Clara etc but their prices are reasonable and you can buy almost anything for your animals there. I mostly get bedding and food for my chickens and bird seed of which they have a large selection. During the spring, they sell chicks as well and you have to check their website for types and days that you can get them and you have to line up early. I saw harness and leashes for chickens on my last visit! The service tends to be hit or miss but mostly miss. The ladies at the counter don't necessarily want to answer any questions and have several times waved me to a section when I asked for an item so I gave up asking questions. You have to pick and pay for your items and then provide the receipt to one of the helpers outside who will load the items in your vehicle. I have seen people pulling trailer loaded high with bales of hay. I haven't seen them selling eggs but they have chicken towards the back of the yard. If you pay with anything other than cash, even debit card, they will charge either a fixed amount or a flat fee, which tends to be a bit higher than most places. Take cash. Plenty of parking and it's in a quiet neighborhood. One of the last places left that sells affordable animal feed at a reasonable price!

Came back for another visit, this time introducing my neighbor and brought them along to buy chicks…read moreas it's their first time and want to start a flock. The chicks are locked behind a closed door this time around and no one can enter except the staff. The staffs told us that we are NOT ALLOWED to see the chicks prior to purchasing. You have to choose the chick breed you want and they just give it to you. Their reasoning is that because the chicks will change and look different growing up. That is extremely weird and unheard of, if you are buying a pet, you would want to see it before purchasing. This usually curtails certain issues; there is an unhealthy chick, illness is visibly noticeable, the holding pen is extremely dirty or possible bait and switch scheme (you buy a certain breed and you're given another one). Everyone knows that their chicks will grow up looking differently, it's common knowledge that chicks and full grown hens look different.
