I came to Gobi Mongolian Grill as part of a large work function of over 30 people and boy was I happy we decided on this spot for the group event. The concept here is not new: diners pick from a large selection of raw ingredients and sauces and bring them up to a large "Mongolian" grill for a stir fry preparation. The bonus here is that Gobi is all-you-can-eat so hungry diners and enjoy all the different stir fry combos to their hearts content. Restaurant chains like Fire and Ice utilize this same business model. But for only $15 during dinner, this is a hard deal to beat. My rating for Gobi remains so high largely due to their extensive seafood selection. Jumbo scallops, clams, squid, and shrimp all beckon to be picked. And as an AYCE veteran, the strategy here is to load up on the seafood and expensive cuts of meat as opposed to filling up on carbs like noodles and rice. They have plenty of veggie varietals for vegans/vegetarians as well. Gobi's sauce selection is just as extensive as their seafood too - with some truly authentic northern Chinese sauces like Mala and Sa Cha. Three plates in, I can confidently say that they use high quality ingredients despite some of them being frozen. As a bonus, they also have a full ice cream/sundae bar with the more exotic flavors like green tea and maple, a welcome finish to any meal. Service was courteous and quick, they were especially accommodating of our large group and the separate room in the back makes Gobi good for these larger engagements. So happy to see Gobi back in action again! I had no idea how they could make everything Covid friendly, but I have to say I have felt truly the safest here in a restaurant since quarantine. All the desserts and salads are in individual sealed containers and they even give you gloves for that area. There are temperature checks at the door with a really high tech face scanner. Hand sanitizer is everywhere. The servers are also wearing plexiglass shield face coverings. And the food--still as great as ever! Came in with my parents today for an early birthday celebration and it felt so nice to all be back together again in a place that we have celebrated many birthdays before. The process of picking what type of fresh veggies, noodles (udon, rice noodles, lo mein, cavatappi), meats (beef, chicken, crabmeat, squid, fish, mussels and more) and sauces you'd like and then watching it all get cooked right in front of you just doesn't get old. I'd been wanting to try this place since they opened. Locked down happened and then life happened so we didn't get there until about 3 weeks ago. My cousin wanted to try the place so we went. This location is in the run down remains of the Imperial Buffet that used to be there when I was a teenager. The buffet line was odd with no real rhyme or reason to how it was laid out. The meats were at least still frozen/cold on the meat line. One thing we DID avoid was the seafood of any kind. The scallops looked old and the fish smelled funky. The sauces were run of the mill BJs/Costco/Sams Club bulk bought. The grill area was interesting to say the least. When I walked up I gave the person next to me some space by leaving one of the numbered slots open, the cook didn't like that and yelled for me to take the next number. Having unceremoniously dousing the griddle with oil, my food was chucked on. They say if you have allergies to let the cook know however, since there's no division between where food is put and they basically use the cooking utensils for everyones food, I'd recommend if you DO have allergies not to go here. After cooking, the food was ok for me. My wife on the other hand barely made it to the dollar tree before having to make a run for the bathroom. Greasy and a bit overpriced for what you get. I love Mongolian grills and wish there was one closer to home. I think the concept is awesome - you get to select what you want from the buffet bar (type of noodles, meat or tofu, veggies, sauce, etc.) Everything is clearly labeled. You can fill up your plate with whatever your heart desires then bring it to the grill and watch someone cook it for you. It's buffet style where you can not only pick what you want on your plate to be cooked, but you can go up as many times as you'd like for seconds or thirds (though I'm typically stuffed by the second plate). This is my second time here. I love the buffet option to pick your own veggies, meat, type of noodles, and sauces to customize your noodle dish. For noodles, they have udon, lo mein, and rice noodles. Watching them cook it and immediately eating the noodles fresh and hot is so satisfying . This time, I tried the Szechuan sauce and the pad Thai sauce - both I thought tasted great. We were given free sides of white rice so we also got a side of just stir fried veggies to go with the rice. I went during lunch time and my first plate was amazing. I mixed sauces and seasonings and you're able to go up anytime if you want to retry a mix at something. You bring your plate up to the chef who creates your masterpiece on the grill! This was a fun experience and I liked the buffet/hibachi-style combo of this place. They have a lot of options for meat, veggies, and noodles which allows you to get really creative with your meal. It's a pretty good price for how much food you can get, too. The only thing I didn't like was the quality of the meat - I found it to be a little tough in some cases and while I understand that you get what you pay for, I feel like since that's a central component of most people's stir fry, it should be extremely good. I also wish they had some Mongolian foods that don't need to be stir fried, like dumplings. I thoroughly enjoyed my 1st trip to Gobi. I've actually been in that plaza many many times but never really noticed Gobi before. I wish I would of known sooner. At Gobi, you order your drinks and then you go to pick out your own stir fry ingredients. They have tons of options to add to your plate in a buffet style setup. Chicken, Steak, shrimp, Scallops and other seafood. They have several choices of noodles and so many different sauces to use. You bring up your plate to a numbered counter and chef's throw your ingredients on their grill. Within 5-10 minutes your food is cooked and ready to eat. The only issue I have is that we were given a bowl of white rice, from what I read on the menu you have to request rice and fried rice is $1 extra. Another great thing about Gobi is at the table they have a bunch of cards on a rolodex type thing that have different stir fry recipes where you can pick out the ingredients at the restaurant to make one of them. If you are still hungry you can go back up for 2nds so dont worry if you found that you didnt quite fill yourself. I recommend this place to anyone looking for food on Queen St. read more

My family and I came here for my son's 13th birthday it is his absolute favorite place to eat. I would explain it as a twist of all you can eat and pick your own hibachi. So what you do is you go through a lineup and there's all different types of foods that are not cooked yet , all different kinds of meats Seafoods vegetables tofu basically anything you can think of that is in a traditional hibachi or Chinese dish is there to pick from. So the first line you go through would be all the vegetables and then the second area is all of the different types of noodles you could pick from and then there are the different types of meats and Seafoods and then further down you pick what kind of sauce you want and there are about 12 sauces to pick from. Also if you can't decide what dish you want to prepare there is also a little book of recipes that you could look through and create your own dish from that recipe I thought that was pretty cool. I usually get all the vegetables then rice noodles, chicken ,squid, shrimp, steak. I like to mix up the sauces I like things a little spicy so one of the times I went up I got the spicy garlic sauce and spicy ginger with a little bit of Korean BBQ. So after you get all of your food together because it is not cooked yet you wait until they tell you to go to the number on a big round table. They will cook your food right in front of you it's pretty amazing to watch and if you have any allergies to certain Seafood or anything just tell them you need the spacers that will ensure that nothing that you're allergic to will get into your dinner. You can repeat this process as much as you want because it is all you can eat. Also they have an amazing salad bar with all the fixings and all different types of dressings. They also have an amazing dessert bar with many different flavors of ice cream in so many things to put on your ice cream. They also have a variety of different fruits and puddings. We drove an hour to visit Gobi and it did not disappoint! We raved about it the whole ride home. The options on the bar were endless and this is the first time I see fresh shrimp on a weekday. Even their salad bar was fresh and delicious and we were there closer to closing time. The workers on the grill were friendly and quick. It was amazing to see one of them speak 3 languages making everyone around him comfortable. Our bill totaled less than 30 bucks with a 10% off for checking in via yelp. My husband and I have established this to be our permanent date spot when we have time away from the kids. Sooo worth the drive and soo worth the money. We have enjoyed eating at Mongolian Grill restaurants before- there is a national chain called Fire and Ice, and we had a lunch at their Cambridge, MA and Nanuet, NY (since closed) locations. The concept is super cool -you go to a salad bar and fill your plate with an assortment of pastas/noodles, dozens of fresh veggies, and a slew of meat or seafood choices. You pick one of a dozen sauces or a combination of sauces. You bring your stuff to a gigantic circular grille and cooks stir fry your creations on the sizzling grill with mixing utensils that look like pool cues. Then they scoop the hot steaming dish onto your plate. It's really quite a show and I bet it will delight the kiddies in your party. I stuck to the shrimp and squid with noodles, veggies and Szechwan and Curry sauces. Went the second time recently for a friends Birthday the party was large about 15 and was accommodated by staff however the language barrier of waitstaff decreased efficiencies of service. Everything here is back open after COVID and I was excited to see a buffet back in action. Everything looked clean and there were many options to choose from, including tofu if you don't want meat. I'm not a huge meat fan but I do love vegetables and there were many options to choose from. Ultimately I got the thin noodles loads with vegetables and crab meat.
