This is not your typical Indian food. Food is excellent! Great flavor and great service. The Chicken Masala is one of the best I've had and their Naan bread is superb. It's delicious and we really enjoyed it but it was not exactly like other Indian food I've eaten ( and I've been to many many Indian restaurants). You'll recognize the entree's and appetizers as things you've seen before and the will be similar but not the same. The vegetable pakora reminded me of Indian seasoned falafel with spinach. We loved them. The samosas are served with a garbanzo bean topping and yogurt. They were also very good. The chicken Kurma is very good but a little more subtle than I'm used to. They give you left over from the buffet as a different dish for take out and if you call and complain they are rude. The take out containers are always half empty...I guess they don't want to give enough food for the high price they charge. When you order multiple curries, they give you rice in a bigger container but it is less than if they give you in individual rice containers. I DO NOT recommend these guys at all! read more

SO yum. my best friend lives 2 minutes from this restaurant so we were both psyched about having this option near by for our nights in. We went for dinner before the VS fashion show and they did NOT disappoint. We both for the chicken Tikki massala. (sorry if i misspelled). the service was great, the goof plentiful and the chips and sauce we got when we got there were truly so good. yum! not sure what they were but so good and not heavy at all. Tried this place for the first time last night it was the first time I've had Southern Indian food and it was absolutely fantastic all the appetizers and the dishes were unbelievably prepared and The Taste was exceptional. This place is definitely worth trying and if you do I'm pretty sure you're going to love it keep in mind most of the food is spicy as many Indian dishes can be.... will definitely be making a return trip!!!! read more

This review is for dining in. I was shocked at the absolutely horrible service we received here. It took us possible 10 minutes to even be greeted at the door, and 10 more to seat us despite the fact we were the only ones waiting. The staff was not warm helpful, or friendly at all, either. We ordered a lot of food and all of it was subpar at best, I think every other Indian place we have tried was better. Not the mention the sour taste of bad customer service in my mouth the whole time. And the water tasted like dirt. We spent a lot of money on an awful time. Never coming here again. read more

Wow!!! The food is really amazing and we will definitely return to try new dishes from the menu. This place had one of nest seafood appetizers that I have ever tasted in an Indian restaurant in USA. The owner recommended a south Indian style goat and chicken curry and both were outstanding. The service was attentive and courteous. Went with another South Indian friend a few weeks ago and we both were amazed by the variety and authenticity of the food. It's like eating my grandmas cooking and believe me that's a HUGE compliment. I know they had been shut down earlier in the year but everything was clean and hygienic as far as I could see. I recommend trying their buffet... but it's not the usual palak paneer and chicken tikka. I promise you will embark on a South Indian culinary adventure! We went for the buffet. Great way to try out a new restaurant. There was a lot to choose from, not much that I, myself liked but that's just me. What I did have was good and I would go back again. Flavor and spice wise, I feel it was good on both aspects, as an American who has eaten Indian food before, this place was good and gave different options of spice /hot levels. We live near-by and like Indian food. We dined-on on a Friday night at 6PM and were the only ones in the restaurant beside 2 other tables. We ordered some naan and samosas, both of which we ok. We got 2 curries- and we are curry fans- and both hated them. We both got sick later on in the evening. I have never felt sicker and had to take a day off from work. I triad to order dinner VIA foodler, when I started to place my oder I discoverd I would be obligated to a $100 minimum + an additional $8.99 delivery fee + 8% tax on top of everything. So I called to ask about delivery and was directed to order VIA Grubhub where they have a $35-$40 minimum, delivery fee of $8.99. While I was on the phone with the owner he became extremely defensive, I explained that both of those options are absurd and that there is quite a bit of compition that he should consider. I.E. Rasoi ($6.99 delivery fee and $20.00 minimum). He started yelling that he does not care about his competition and that he get's a good number of phone orders a day between 4-10... I reassured him that I like the food at his restaurant but that the exorbitantly high prices for delivery knock him out of the options for delivery. He then yelled at me and accused me of working for Rasoi (Who I know and love) and that he did not need this s--t. Then he hung up on me. So much for Godvari for dinner tonight. read more

Very pleased with the buffet lunch menu. Plenty of varieties including live dosa station. Many authentic South Indian delicacies. Tasty too. Would prefer little more spice. Would be nice and great if food was served on banana leaves also. read more

Warm and festive without being overwhelming. Our excellent server was Surya who was attentive and friendly. Helpful staff who are accommodating on heat levels of spices. Chicken tikka Masala was scrumptious. Afghani tandoori chicken was perfect---reminded me of "Indian Fajitas!" Buttered Naan is the best around. Samosas where delicious. Diverse diners--so you know it's good! Can't wait to return to get rice pudding and dumpling dessert. Generous portions prevented us from getting that far. It used to be our favorite Indian restaurant in RI but not anymore. The food is good but the customer service that we encountered tonight was unacceptable. We just want to say that the server's job is to serve the customers politely and not take out their personal irritations in front of them. Today was a good day, tried the lunch buffet at Godavari was probably one of the reason. We went by at exact noon time ( assuming that this one opens at 11.30am just like the few others we had been ) The food was all ready, and we were seated right away. Later on, I thought going in at 12 was a good thing as I saw the crowd filling in by 1. Ok, so if you around, go at 12..you'd have the place to yourself ;) ! I have been to the Godavari @ Woburn a couple of times and must say compared to that this restaurant is quite big. Loved the Diner kind of set up. I would like to just go for a hot filter coffee by the window someday !Coming to the food, my goodness what a spread ! Vegetarian options are pretty elaborate too. The lamb vindaloo was amazing ! So perfectly cooked juicy lamb and thick, a well balanced curry. The tandoori chicken, wings and another chicken starter was amazing. The masala wings were pretty well taken even by my 4 year old. Two kinds of rice, Biryani and seafood pulav was yum ! The naans, idlis, chutneys were lip smacking too. They have a dosa counter for some piping hot kinds.. Anyone who makes dosas would know it takes just a minute or two to make one..so, what do you do stand there and make some pep talk with the man making one for you :) Mr. Bhalla made waiting quite easy with some conversations about how he just makes the dosa and didnt know what went into the mysore masala dosa chutney, well, I dont bother either, Mr.Bhalla, the Dosa was good ( quick tip: try and ask the chef about the chutney.. Am sure he/ she is as charming as you are ! ) There were quite a spread for picky eating kids as well, French fries, sandwiches, Potato chilli and of course dosa. For Dessert there was fruit custard and coconut cake. Not being a fan of desserts, I can't comment on that . They served chikoo milkshake too and a friend said it took him home. Nice large Buffet with many choices. They really teach their American friends the difference between North & South Indian - I especially suggest this buffet for those who like spicy dishes. Maybe I'm defective, but I found it difficult to see the selections due to rather low lighting levels. However, if you want the polar opposite of McDonalds - type food, like a buffet for the chance to try everything, and would like a very extensive choice of vegetarian offerings (plenty meat items, too), it's very worthwhile. I just moved from Dallas to Lincoln and tried out various restaurants around. Coming from Dallas where we had plenty of choices and some great restaurants, i was initially disappointed with what RI had to offer. Then decided to give Godavari a try based on the yelp reviews and i must stay i am impressed. I ordered Schezwan fried rice,butter chicken and chicken lollipop for delivery. Firstly i got my food delivered on time. Thats a good start. Coming to the food, Chicken Lollipop was very delicious and flavorful. Fried rice was great too and was made mild as per my instruction. It went very well with their butter chicken. Quantity of butter chicken was much admirable while the quality also maintained standard. I had enough curry and pieces to take it for lunch next day. After dining here i have stopped worrying which restaurant to choose when hunger kicks in. Hotel ambience is good too. Give it a try. I will definitely return! read more

Went there tonight with 3 friends. We all have had Indian food before and like some things. After placing our order I asked for beverages and all they offer are cans of soda. Not even a glass. The servers bring out random food that we had not ordered and when we question them, they grin, nod and walk away. I don't think English is understood nor spoken, beyond the waiter (order taker). The food wasn't very good.. I ate some but the other guys I was with had the wrong orders and the food was unidentifiable. If that was not bad enough, the place is filled with flies and they actually have sticky fly strips hanging in the dining room over the tables where patrons are sitting with flies stuck to it. On the way out, we needed to stop in the restroom which was filled with urine on the seats on the floor and the floor was so greasy i almost took a header to the floor. It was the most disgusting restroom comparable to a mens restroom at a college nightclub. The whole experience was horrifying. read more

First, the heat was not working in the building and we were FREEZING. After waiting forever for our food, we decided to take it as take-out and then waited much longer. Our problem with the menu is that the hot (spicy) foods are not marked as such, and they should be. Otherwise, how will your non-Indian customers know what foods to avoid if they don't like hot foods?! They should put a little hot pepper mark next to foods to indicate amount of heat. This would be immensely helpful and make the ordering experience soooo much easier. The Indian servers did not speak much English and were very hard to communicate with. Once we got the food home and tasted it, most of what we ordered was too hot for us to enjoy. read more

Extremely late service and poorly staffed. South indian tiffins are good but north indian can improve. In general, the tables are dirty with left over food needing to be cleaned for a while probably because of inadequate staff. Many items in the menu are unavailable. Flies were around and the beetroot halwa (dessert) had a hair strand, the manager claimed it to be of a customer as it was female hair !! apparently they had no female cooks. I went to an appliance store and I saw this restaurent so I decided to check it out with my wife today , it was relatively slow , the floor was sticky like someday drooped a milk shake , the was just ok nothing too special , it was very very very spicy and extremely hot , my mouth and my wife's mouth was on fire after ordering an appetizer , I ate my meal but my wife could not stand how spicy hers was , I did mention that to our water but the only thing he offered to do is to get her a yogourt sauce , but it was way too spicy for us , the waiter was ok but lacked costumer service manners , I would not give them another shot next time !!! read more
