Came here on Saturday night on a rim, 1 hour to closing. We were able to be seated after a couple minutes. They have a couple of the comics too, which I assume you can read while you're a patron.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ended up here because I had a MealPal for the day. Unfortunately, I wasn't too impressed with what I had. The rice in the Gyu Don was dry and I personally thought they were a little stingy with the meat. I know it's a MealPal, but it was a higher credit one so I would've expected a little better. I do like that it came with a fruit tea. That was tasty and refreshing. It is very possible that I just had the wrong dish from this place, so I wouldn't discount it, but at the moment, it seems like a place heavily carried by its aesthetics and not necessarily the food. read more

One of my favorite anime that I watched growing up was Dragon Ball Z. I ended up buying the first few seasons of Dragon Ball Z, up to the Freiza saga on VHS! Looking for places to eat in the Financial District for dinner, I saw Goku Kitchen just a few blocks away from my office! I just had to go and eat dinner at Goku Kitchen on a Tuesday evening! I would have gone the first night I arrived in from Las Vegas on Monday, but it was closed. As soon as you walk inside Goku Kitchen, you'll see all of the Dragon Ball Z anime figurines, wall papers from the Manga, and even a large size Goku! The menu is so cool too! The menu and food offerings are all inspired by Dragon Ball Z. Even the dish that the food is served on is themed from the Manga! The service was outstanding at Goku Kitchen. I had ate a large lunch so I only had room for some of their pork gyoza. Goku Kitchen has a wide range of dishes from Ramen, Scallion pancakes, pot stickers, soup dumplings and so much more! While I was waiting for the Pork Gyoza, I was admiring all of the Dragon Ball Z decorations and figurines! There was even a cool Vegeta display with the scanner on his face! After about 10 minutes, the Gyoza was completed. The food was delicious! The Gyoza came with a side of soy sauce. It was perfectly pan fried too! There was plenty of pork inside the Gyoza! We found this place for lunch and thought it was so fun it being decorated with abingdon wallpaper and nostalgic collection of anime toys and figurines. It was quiet late Sunday afternoon so the place was quiet with two other tables of customers. In total the is about 6-7 tables and 3-4 counter space with stools. The waiter was very frowns and quickly took our order. The menu was Asian fusion focusing on Japanese, Chinese & Taiwanese dishes. We decided to order the tonkasu Ramen, udon soup with sliced beef & onions & braised beef noodle soup. The service was quickly and good arrived in less than 10 minutes. + overall food were tasty - All the dishes were just missing 1-2 things that pushes to the mark of 5 stars with the word factor. First time here with my family for my son's birthday. Place is positioned down a side block where I happened to get lucky with parking. Gotta pay the meter but hey it's something. Stepping in immediately and the whole place is decked out in manga panels and figurines. The attention to detail was not missed. There were little Goku and Gohan keychains attached to the menu, even when we got our bill there were little magnet characters. Happily surprised by the food as well! Impressions first.. the name definitely got me. That's part of the reason I made it here. The motif revolving around Goku and Dragon Ball is a plus. What most people would think though is that this is a Dragon Ball restaurant which is far from it. I learned that it's pretty much all decoration and I love it! The walls are plastered with pages of the manga; there are action figures of different characters as well; even a life-sized version of Goku is on the corner. The menu is a board book using a manga template and each one having a mini figure key chain. They definitely put a lot of thought into their decorations. The service staff were really friendly. We were asked to scoot over a little closer to the wall due to a larger group needing more room, and then they eventually moved them to another section that was tighter, though much more closer to memorabilia. Their choice. The appetizers didn't quite wow me. It was good though it didn't stand out particularly. What I did love was the beef udon noodle soup. The chili sauce was served in the senzu bean pot and gave a nice touch! It also gave a good kick to my soup. Before leaving, I tried the black gold lava bun. I liked it, would've enjoyed it more if it was a bit sweeter. I also walked away with Thai iced tea. Decor-wise, it's every fan's dream. Service-wise, they're all friendly and accommodating. There's a wide variety of drinks and meals depending on what you're craving - the scallion noodles I had were pretty solid, and some of the sparkling drinks with the DBZ cans felt light and refreshing. If you come on a quiet time with just one other person, try to get the booth facing the window cuz there's so much over there. Won't spoil but it's nice seeing so many scenes and figures from different arcs that it really brings you back when you were younger watching the show. This restaurant is specifically for fans of the famous anime Dragon Ball. The place has been designed as almost like a museum to it. There is a life size Goku statue, a complete manga collection, and loads of figurines. They even sell cans of soda that have the character designs on them. Any fan will want to take lots of photos. The food is pretty good. It is mostly Chinese food (dumplings, braised beef noodle soup, scallion pancakes, wontons, pork buns) with some Japanese options (gyudon). The food is actually authentic and similar to food you would find in Chinatown. Prices are reasonable too, with most entrees priced at $10-$14. The food by itself is not something to go out of your way for, as it's located in far south in a quiet part of the Financial District. Recently took a road trip to NYC and stopped in Goku Kitchen and had the absolute best time. To start the space is decked out in anime. There are action figures, life size version of GoKu and everything is themed at the restaurant. Although the space is small, the service is phenomenal and the food is delicious. Totally biased review because it's our favorite Anime and it's a themed restaurant done well. The Asian menu here is authentic and offers casual dining eats. Reservations are a must - never thought I'd have to say that for a casual dining spot but you'll know when you see the line upon arrival. I made the mistake of not having one but had planned for weeks to come here and surprise my son for his birthday. The manager heard my plea and luckily I arrived pre-lunch rush on a Sunday and someone didn't show up for their reservation. Phew! I got really lucky. And they were super nice about it. It worked out for all. It was five of us, we ordered a bit of everything! Curry over rice, eel over rice, noodles, dumplings, milk tea, and bao buns. It was a great casual lunch. Everything was good - I loved my curry dish. It was creatively plated (must see photo...meow). The cups and bowls were all from the Dragon Ball Anime or at the minimum, Anime art inspired. The food doesn't look that appealing to me so I only got gyoza but the gyoza is small and taste like the frozen gyozas we buy from the supermarket. They do take walk-ins but the process was a little unclear. He said it was best to make reservations but on the website and IG there is no proper instructions on how to do that. He was about to turn us away because he said the night was "full" but when we explained to him you guys don't have any procedure explaining reservations he gave us a number to wait. He did turn away people after that as he said he was expecting a Large group to arrive. So idk what's the deal with that. Service was good and food was good no complaints there. Inside is cool but it's not an interactive restaurant just visual so good for pics but that's about it. It's busy and fast paced so you'll be in and out within an hour max depending on how much food you order. Not a bad place but a tip would be to call to secure a reservation just for safe measure. read more

Came to eat here with my family after celebrating my son's bday at complete playground just a few blocks away. They took us in right away and food came out pretty quickly as well. They were so nice and friendly to the kids and allowed us to take photos as well. They even allowed my son to choose a gift since our bill was over a certain amount & it was his bday. Place is beautiful decorated for anime fans. And very clean. I'm not sure if there was a restroom here. read more
