We had the great fortune of dining at Evergreen restaurant in Colorado Springs today. One of the first surprises of my life was the Brussels Sprouts, I've never eaten a whole Brussels Sprout in my life, even wrapped in bacon! But I thoroughly enjoyed Evergreen's version. I had the filet mignon beef Stroganoff with perfect mashed potatoes and gravy, INCREDIBLE! Others had the Norwegian Salmon and broccoli, a surprising watermelon salad. We enjoyed several mock-tales that are uniquely wonderful in start and finish on the palate. Then the cremé de la cremé was their mousse style fruit desserts. They actually taste like the fruit they represent, not super sweet sugar bombs. The atmosphere is cozy with casual dining inside and out. The owner, Crystal was our server and she is a sweetheart to the max! Evergreen is high on my must go again list! read more

Ordered the Watermelon Gazpacho Ceviche which was amazing! A perfect matching of ingredients where you could taste each element individually but also together - best I've had! For a cocktail, the Rosemary Smoked Negroni was fantastic - again, probably the best cocktail on the planet. Good food, I just wish it was organic. Good atmosphere, I just wish we felt more welcomed. It was our male server's first day. He had just moved back to the area from Denver. He was pleasant to speak with and gave us prompt, responsive service. His supervisor, who seemed like she may have been the owner, didn't seem interested in speaking with me and walked away while I was asking questions on two occasions. Despite this, I enjoyed the saganaki, even though it didn't have as much flavor as I expected. I also enjoyed the carbonara as the large noodles were perfectly toothsome. I think I might have liked the ragu better and if I go back I will try that. My wife got a burger special and she said it was good. Would be an awesome patio to host live music. It's a wonder they have any traffic being so tucked away in the Colorado College campus, but I wish them the best of luck and hope they thrive. Hands down the most aesthetically pleasing restaurant I've been to in COS. My server was so attentive and kind, even with 5 other tables occupied. This restaurant was so clean and the ambiance was not what you'd expect from COS, but something I could see in SF or WA (which says a lot!) My order: Today I got everything I wanted to try out. Turkish coffee (first time), heirloom and beet salad, Shakshuka (first time), and a coffee bean mouse dessert cake. - Turkish coffee was delicious, reminds me of a hot mocha but not as sweet. I'd order this again! - I love beets so I had to get the heirloom and beet salad. It came with a huge chunk of feta cheese which was so crazy. I wish it came with arugula bc that combo never fails. - I've always wanted to try shakshuka so I decided to order it. Tomatoes aren't my favorite veggie so I didn't finish it, but it was very tasty with the flatbread. - Coffee bean dessert - this was such a fun dessert. Today they only had this in the display and even though chocolate mousse isn't my favorite I decided to give it a try. Very tasty and I will def be back to try the other fruiter flavors. Was excited to try this restaurant. The ambiance is wonderful with a delightful patio and atmospheric interior. Wait staff were attentive and helpful. I was a little disappointed in the food. The chicken was a little dry and my companions pasta lacked just a little flavor. To be fair our expectations were high but we felt our main courses were not quite where we wanted them. Any disappointment on the mains was quickly replaced by delight at the desserts. The desserts are made daily and are unique! The lemon cake looked just like a lemon, not just on the exterior but also in the interior!!!! Taste was out of this world! The Macron was light and tasty and my companion enjoyed her golden coffee. Would I return, for dessert definitely, I would also like to try their breakfast. I may have been unlucky with mains so will give it another try. read more

Although the food was some of the best my partner and I had. It took an hour for us to get waited on. 4 tables left by the time anyone came to our table. It then took 45 minutes for any drink or appetizer to come. The waiter apologized and said he was "venting to the chef" by this time there were only three table total of people. By the time our food got to us there was no cutlery. He handed us our forks and knives by the part that touches your mouth. One knife was still dirty. The waiter kept coming to the table to complain about the customers who had left and how he was alone. When pouring water he got it all over the table. Took 3 hours to finish a meal, drinks took anywhere from 30-40 mins to get refreshed. A shame really the food and environment was great, it the service ruined it all. read more

We went here for Sunday brunch and ate outside under the awning. It was perfect day and setting. We had their Omelette, Farmers breakfast and a Blueberry Mousse Cake for dessert (oh, my, my, my!!) such incredible flavors! The mashed potatoes were scrumptious, sausage delicious, and most importantly Do Not skip dessert if you have room. The design of the Evergreen is sleek and has fresh clean lines - very inviting. We've found very few restaurants with outstanding flavors, fresh food, and friendly staff with an inviting ambiance in the Springs. We are so thrilled to find a fresh upscale place. My husband and I visited on a week night at 5pm when there was no one else in the restaurant. When we arrived the hostess/waitress asked us if we had a reservation which we said we didn't. We asked if it was okay to eat there without a reservation; we understand that places can get busy and don't want to impose, but she said she could "fit us in". We were sat and assumed it would be okay, but then we overheard her loudly complaining to the kitchen about how busy they were going to be, which made us feel like we were an inconvenience. But during the hour or so were there, there were only 3 other tables (a 2-top, 3-top, and 6-top). Four tables doesn't feel like a rush, but we felt extremely unwelcome and like we were an imposition. The food was fine if a bit overpriced for the quality. We won't be back and I'll be surprised if this place lasts another year. read more

They were also super accommodating and seated us quickly even though we showed up before our reservation time. The service was pretty good. My complaint is I left my prescription expensive Gucci reading glasses on the table. Walked to my car and came back and they said they were not there. They were absolutely there someone stole them. And now I'm out of reading glasses. So no one can tell me the server or someone didn't steal them. Pretty sad there's no honesty. so I don't have any reading glasses and I can't afford another prescription. I have to buy Dollar tree glasses, thank you very much. read more

EVERYTHING here is freshly made, exceptional and prepared to wow the hardest-to please (me!). Saw Evergreen on a friend's FB and later checked them out on IG (evergreen_cosprings). I knew I had to take my wife there. Our experience for brunch today was a mixed bag which is how I landed on 3-stars. Ambiance: Super rad. The former La'au's Taco shop has been turned into a swanky European space fitting the Evergreen name. First impressions: Kind staff. Multiple dirty tables. Service: Kind but way too casual and lacked any sense of urgency. Timing of the entire meal was off. Coffee and pastry that I ordered arrived during the meal. The free mimosas they were doing for all guests today were an afterthought that arrived after our check (which we had to ask for). Oh, our server spilled mimosa in the lap of another guest. Our dirty plates sat on the table for some time. Food: Prices were right. The food was quite beautiful and tasty. Pastries and super swanky and glamorous. First experience having shashuka and it was great; except got finding a label from a tomato in there! I'd go back in hopes they work out the new restaurant issues. Worst experience. We made a reservation for the dining experience Jan 14 for Valentine's Day. It was $100 a person with gratuity at the time of reservation. The day of we couldn't find the restaurant because it's inside Colorado College. Their website doesn't indicate where exactly the restaurant or the parking was so we parked a block away and paid for parking. The restaurant ended up being behind/part of the Spencer center, so you do have to go around the building and up a deck, to find the door with the restaurant name on it. As soon as we entered, we noticed the restaurant was crowded and small. When we told the hostess, we had for a reservation, she seemed surprised and went to talk to who ended up being the manager for five minutes while we stood at the front. After five minutes, she informed us our seats would be at the counter next to the door, which was facing a wall unlike everyone else in the restaurant. We told them that was not acceptable and asked how they could accommodate us. They offered gift cards or for us to come back two hours later and we asked for a refund. They accepted and apologized but they said that someone was going to have to sit at those two seats because of the number of reservations. She said because we made the reservation and were billed by a third party she said she was gonna need to contact stripe to give us a refund. She gave us her contact information to ensure we got the refund but said she would take care of it as the manager. Two weeks went by and I didn't get my refund, so I emailed her and she said stripe couldn't refund us so we had to come back to provide our card or she could give us cash. When my husband went, she offered a gift card multiple times and ended up Zelleing him. She could have used my contact information from when I made the reservation to tell me that or could have asked me via email so we didn't have to go back. I also saw the kitchen staff defrosting the first course on the 14th. I would not recommend. read more

All of our cocktails had beautiful single Icecubes in them. From roses to crystals. The appetizers were phenomenal the Brussels, the carrots, and the beet salad were amazing. Every one enjoyed there entrees. The paperkash was amazing the branzino was great. The Kiev was delicious. You just can't go wrong. It truly was a great experience the way the owners wanted it. This place is a hidden gem! We went for my girlfriend's birthday. The inside of the restaurant is gorgeous, they also have an outdoor patio for dining. Our food was absolutely delicious, and my coffee was the best I've had in the Springs. We shared a honey cake and a lemon cake and both were absolutely delicious. The lemon cake was my favorite because of the way it is served. It looks exactly like a lemon. The honey cake was so good, not too sweet and perfect for brunch. We tried Evergreen on a Saturday night and although we decided 4 stars we will definitely return. One of my issues was the lack of gfdf options. I was fine this evening to get the shrimp salad. It was so good! Seasoned well with half dozen medium grilled shrimp. I almost licked the plate. Macaroons for dessert were delicious. One with a creamy filling and the other with a fruit center. Some dairy but not a lot. The 3 other in our party got different options. The beef was overcooked and a bit dry but the sauce saved the dish. The diner raved about it. The pasta dish was good but could have used another minute in the water. The salmon was ok but the diner thought it odd that it was fried. The other desserts ordered was the 9 layer cake. That was definitely the big winner of the evening. Favorite cocktail was the pumpkin spice with ginger beer. It was a very light flavor and ordered for a second drink. Service was very friendly and the ambiance comfortable, quiet, and just beautiful. We will be back Note: park in the alley west of Tejon for a shorter walk. read more

Came here shortly after it opened, have enjoyed lots of different plates through various iterations of various menus through the last year, and along the way a lot of memorable dishes. Brussel sprouts always a favorite, anything with mussels, a spectacularly flavorful beet salad one hot afternoon really hit the spot, pasta carbonara (a simple dish that is particularly well done here), shakshuka in the winter a must. I'm not a dessert person but I know the handmade desserts are well loved. Some of the reviewers below seem unable to roll with any punches at a small family place; earth to reviewers, it's not a chain, sometimes something is not available or there is an imperfection or two, that's part of the charm (ever seen a Stanley Tucci movie?). A little pretentious for the atmosphere and location. Website looks terrific but you are basically in a narrow restaurant that has a problem with managing air exhaust dynamics for the kitchen. A few times we were doused with smoke filling the restaurant. Most restaurant kitchens are set up to have negative pressure so that smoke and exhaust never filtrate into the eating space. Service was "pushy", always asking if you are ready for another entree. Would have been nice to simply enjoy the company you are with without constant interruption. We couldn't move to another table as we were told other reservations had them.... those tables never got occupied before we left. Food portions were small. read more

The first little girl I spoke with straight up hung up on me, and then the second person told me she was rude because they are all pre occupied.
