Gold Ranch is turning into a cool spot to stop on the way between Reno and Truckee. If you need fuel, there are large lanes to pull through even with a trailer. I have not visited the new diner, but when I stopped to get fuel on a rainy morning on my way to work, I noticed quite a few people inside, it looked really inviting. The Jack in the box is an easy option for a quick meal, and their curly fries can't be beat. There is a coffee bar available that you can grab your favorite style caffeinated beverage for your road trip One of the cool things is the huge wall of beef jerky and all the different flavors. Quality/Quantity - This was my buddy's "go to" place for breakfast every morning before skiing. But they increased the price by $1 so we stopped coming, lol. Our "go to" breakfast was in the Sierra Cafe. They used to have pancakes, eggs, bacon/sausage, hash browns, etc. for only like $5-6 bucks. Atmosphere - Convenient in and out location. Casino, RV resort, gas station, etc. Open 24 hours. Plenty of parking in the back, but we have never had an issue getting a space up front either. Service - Good. We usually just go to the cafe. I have not used any of the other services. Nor have I gambled here. Price - Depends on what you buy/drink. Or depends on how much you gamble. Gold ranch is just on the outskirts of Reno as you're leaving Reno. They have so many gas pumps, which is nice and a store to get snacks on your way out of town. There is a restaurant there also a jack in the box, and I noticed that they had electric vehicle hook ups now about probably 15 of them or so. Which was really great to see for those who need that electric vehicle charger. They also have camp hook ups there also that I just noticed but I know they've been there for years. Overall gold ranch is what we usually hit on our way out of town if we're going over the hill for some reason. Since I live in the area if we have to top off our gas tank before we head to the Sacramento area, we can do it. read more

First time here for convenience of being close to the border. Came into restaurant right as they opened at 8am on a Sunday. Seated right away, food came out little over 10 mins later. Good portion sizes for breakfast and the price. Very basic, but still yummy and waitresses were very nice. I have to dox a star for the women's restroom being closed as we came in, especially with who roams around the small casino. But still will return! read more

I called to make a reservation yesterday for an overnight stay 2 hours before arriving and this lady didn't tell me there was a power outage that day, so we arrived surprised with no power at all. She also told me while making the reservation that she'll leave a paper with the code for the hot tub and rest room by the window for me but she didn't and nothing was there but just my misspelled last name and the site number we're assigned to by the door. So we couldn't use the restroom and the hot tub at all. We left early morning and when the lady called me this morning I mentioned we didn't have power all night and I asked nicely if there's a discount for not having a electricity and she told me no and that's the electric company's fault for not having a power and I have to pay for the whole amount. She sounded not nice after I asked, I guess she doesn't like people asking for discounts at all. I've been to campgrounds across the states and this place is one of the worst. read more

Remember 3 stars means average. This is what Gold Ranch has become. There is nothing horrible, but there is also nothing great about the place and specifically the restaurant. The prices, service, and the food are nothing special what-so-ever. This has not always been the case. In the past the Gold Ranch served as a neat place to view the snow covered cars coming in to Nevada during a storm or grab some lotto tickets or some cheap gas and then enjoy an inexpensive, reliable meal with familiar good service. Today's Gold Ranch is priced quite a bit higher than it's competition, the food is just okay, the service is without a smile, and the former allure is just not there. I think they are relying on the weary traveler stuck there by closed highways instead of the locals previously came in and are available year-round. There were only about 5 tables with customers around early dinner time. It used to be packed. What about the other parts of the Gold Ranch? The casino is still smokey (comparatively with other similar places in Reno), the gas prices are similar to the restaurant (tourist trap like), the bathrooms are questionable. I have not stayed there but the RV park looks as nice as an RV park that is 100 yards from the Interstate can be expected, The Lotto people are very nice and it is easy to access when the jackpot is not feverish. read more

9/5/17 Gold Ranch Casino and RV resort is the last casino on your way to California. It is easy to access off of I-80. The Casino has great breakfast prices in the coffee shop. This casino usually smells like smoke but is clean. The have $3.99 pancakes, eggs and bacon and a $8.99 Prime Rib meal. They also have a coffee bar. Food is good and normally quick. Casino slots are nice and seem to be loose on occasion. They have a Jack in the Box and a Port Of Subs attached to this Casino. There is a SInclair Convenience store with lots of snack options as well as souvenirs and is open 24 hours. There are lots of gas pumps as well as diesel. The RV resort part has 105 fully paved sites, including 68 wide pull-throughs, hook ups, free WIFI, laundry facilities, heated pool and pets are welcome. Honestly, my favorite casino simply because I've managed to get multiple Major jackpots on their machines. They have free play that can be used in most of the machines (unlike Cal-Neva) and their parking lot is kept clean. We always had a great experience until tonight. We've been coming for a few weeks now and the bartenders are great (Nikki, Courtney, Michael) sorry if your names aren't spelled correctly. Good service and usually break even at the slots. I've had a few weird experiences/broken a few machines but the tall/thin manager on duty always was helpful. Today not so much. The cage girl was rude when we said we needed help and we waited over 20 minutes for a MOD. We wouldn't have cared if the cage girl said this or the other guy hadn't told us no one would help us as there wasn't anyone on duty. If you're not in a rush situation, there is a casino, bar, premium coffee set up & a restaurant inside the facility. The cafe has a varried menu with daily & everyday specials. The food is good & served hot by their friendly staff. They have a RV Park with full hook ups. If gambling in Nevada isn't enough, the rear of the property is in California & has a Lottery building with all the tickets for every game available. They were crisp with perfect seasoning to make them absolutely delicious. The next time we go to Reno we are definitely going to stop by Gold Ranch for lunch again. I've been going to Gold Ranch for years and it's always been a great stopover for gas and gambling and a cocktail on the way back to Truckee. The food is usually great too. I was very disappointed to see that they had "fired" Dennis. One of my favorite bartenders. I can't imagine why they would let go of such a valuable asset. The management has all changed and I have to say, not for the better. I saw one gal sloppy drunk hugging everyone and you couldn't help but overhear her discussing (with some tattooed fellow) how she is going to close the bar at night? This tattooed drunk woman is in charge of the bar? What? What happened to a sense of pride in your job? None of the managers, like April or Marlene would have ever been caught dressed like that and certainly would never have been sloppy drunk at the bar where they work. I think it's time to start checking out Boomtown's new place since they made the roundabout easier to get back on freeway. The gas may be more expensive but they usually give you 15 cents off if you swipe your players card. Gold Ranch needs to figure it out, before they lose all their locals. The locals are the bread and butter and what keeps your casino rolling. Gas station will always do well but you won't get employees if they can't make money because no one wants to be there. And what is with the red shirts? You've taken what classiness your employees brought and made it look like a third rate golf club. I sure miss April and Marlene and now Dennis. I've stopped here a couple of times for a late lunch after going to Boca Reservoir for some recreation. I used to make the trek to Truckee, but recently that hasn't been as fun of an experience. Once I had the steak, which wasn't bad and another time I had a burger which was decent. Portions are large enough, food is diner quality. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here but if you are passing by and hungrey it's okay. I've been sampling other places like this that are older style and this one is on par with the others. We understand that things are rough everywhere. BUT ordered breakfast this morning. My husband ordered an omelet, easy. It came out like a scramble. Not easy at all. Sent it back and got it back with some cheese on top that wasn't melted. Again Sent it back and actually got an omelet but was over cooked. I ordered steak and eggs .medium rare and over medium with crispy hashbrowns, on both sides. I got tough as a boot over cooked steak, hashbrowns barely cooked on one side. My eggs were actually cooked over medium. Needless to say it will be a very long time before we try it again. It was as if Tabitha was running the restaurant again. Come on Mike.
