Do not work here! This place is always hiring for a reason. Terrible management that creates a hostile work environment; the pay is NOT worth your sanity--there is no benefits either. Literally no reason to work here unless you want unnecessary stress. We've driven past Gold Star Burgers for YEARS and never thought twice about stopping in. Last night we were craving a good charbroiled burger and decided to finally give it a shot instead of making the drive out to our usual burger spots like Andy's Burgers or Carrie out Burger in Chino. Honestly, I'm mad we waited this long. We went through the drive-thru and ordered two avocado burgers and an order of zucchini fries. First off, the service was great. Everyone was friendly, the order process was smooth, and we got our food surprisingly fast considering how fresh and delicious everything tasted. The burgers were ridiculously good. Perfect charbroiled flavor, juicy, fresh, and actually satisfying. I couldn't even finish mine in one sitting, but later that night I ate the rest cold and somehow it was STILL delicious. That's how you know a burger is good. But the zucchini fries? That was a whole different experience. I've ordered zucchini fries from a lot of burger spots over the years, including some of my all-time favorite places, and these were hands down the best overall. Crispy, flavorful, perfectly cooked, and paired with their ranch it was seriously addicting. The second it hits your tongue you just feel happy. If you don't make at least a little happy noise eating these, I honestly question your taste buds. Overall, I'm disappointed we slept on this place for so long, but really glad we finally tried it because now we officially have an amazing local burger spot whenever the craving hits. it has been a while since I have been here. I don't know why, but I'm glad I decided to come back. This place did not disappoint. The Staff are SUPER FRIENDLY!! When I would eat your I would usually order the patty melt on rye. That's what I ordered on this visit and it was so good. I wish I had ordered two of them.. lol The fries here are great too! Located on Clay smack dab in between Van Buren and Limonite, Gold Star is tough to miss. They have an old school drive thru with nothing but a speaker and a massive menu to choose from. Sure it's typical burgers and Mexican food but you'll see more rare things like a tuna melt. I've been coming to Gold Star for years and ate a variety of items. The chorizo breakfast burrito is great. The chili burger is awesome. The patty melt is perfectly done and their zucchini is my favorite in the area. Thin, crispy and perfect for dipping in their glorious ranch dressing. They used to be on the slower side when it came to food prep but the last couple times I was like wow you're done already. Service has always been friendly. Inside is chairs and booths. Nothing special but you get your own fountain drinks if you eat in. I've been eating here for years and had yet to float them a review. Ordered a bacon breakfast burrito, staff was really nice and my food was ready quickly even on a busy Sunday. The burrito is massive, I saved a portion of it for tomorrow's breakfast. I am really bad poncho cheese fries. It's literally my all-time favorite guilty food so if I go to a place that I've never had them at it's a must try. These are pretty good. As a former employee, I experienced a lot of unprofessional management here. Communication was often unclear, and employees' availability/time-off requests were not respected even when they were discussed weeks in advance. Hours would sometimes get cut over small issues, which created a stressful work environment. The manager was also frequently dismissive and not very supportive toward staff. They make you feel like you're bothering them, interrupting their private conversations since they're always chatting with each other, because you want to place an order.
