In the winter there aren't many restaurants open in Silverton and glad we found the block brewery. Serving mainly paninis and pizzas, this is not a bad place to be stuck at. They have a custom wood fire style pizza oven on site and all the pizzas we tried were great. Hands down one of our favorite places for pizza! (And we've eaten pizza all across the US!!) We found this place while visiting in August and had to go back again while skiing in December! The Golden Block is an absolute must-visit!!! The Kathouse Kolsh is the best beer I've ever tasted, and mixes perfectly in the summertime with the Sour they offer. This is a friendly establishment that welcomes all people, and has an amazing ambiance (with some pretty hilarious wall art also)! The owners, Molly and Floyd are absolute gems!! My fiancé Thomas and I have LOVED getting to know them throughout the years, as we travel for vacation to Silverton twice a year. Golden Block catered our son's rehearsal dinner May 30, 25 . We were exceptionally pleased with the pizzas provided, the beer, and the service that Molly and Floyd provided. They were easy to work with, had great suggestions, and very organized too. The pizzas were very fresh, hot and extremely delicious. They even kept the microbrew open later than normal after the rehearsal dinner for the crowd of the young ones to go party for a little bit . My family of 4 did a share with a few pizzas (good size, larger than the 12" advertised), panini and a salad. Great place, old style pizza oven that put a nice crust on the dough, panini was crisp and came with nice side of chips. The salad was crisp with fresh greens and tasty dressing. Hung out with the staff while they prepared our takeout while I enjoyed a good IPA and my daughter had a root beer. I am shocked that none of these reviews have mentioned the Kathouse Kolsch. This is by far my favorite beer brewed here, with the obligatory blackberries sunken to the bottom. In fact, this "Kolsch"-like beer (don't want to be sued by Cologne) is my favorite American interpretation of the style. It is light, carbonated, refreshing, and fruity all at the same time. If you ever visit this microbrewery, be sure to get the Kathouse, you will love it. I agree with most of the reviews on here that the service has a lot to be desired. Our waitress seemed bored to serve us, and informed us they were out of the aforementioned Kathouse Kolsch. I was utterly disappointed. Only after inquiring three times about other places to get some, did she volunteer to check if they had any in back. She came back with what she claimed was the last crowler. Even though I was gleeful to obtain a crowler, I didn't enjoy all the hoops I had to jump through to get it. Also, the food took forever to come out. Even though the service is meager, the food is above average (I'm looking at you, pizza) and the Kolsch-like beer is phenomenal. So that's why I'm giving four stars. And, I will be back, for a growler of that amazing Kathouse! read more

Ordered the garlic bread (originally to take home but ended up eating it right then and there), the Maggie, the corkscrew and the little giant. WOW. So freaking delicious. The atmosphere was super warm and inviting. Our server, Marco, was FANTASTIC. Was able to offer some suggestions on the menu. Everything was so clean. We arrived via train from Durango, along with approximately 300 other people. Every restaurant in this small town was jammed with the lunch crowd from the train. All the restaurants were prepared & well staffed. The host here said there would be a wait or we could eat at the bar- which we chose. Got the last two seats. The bartender is Natalie from Texas. She is really attractive & very efficient! Took our orders quickly & brought drinks quickly. Never wrote anything down- all from memory! I got spinach artichoke dip on baguette which was delicious! Husband got a beef panini with all the fixings, which he said was delicious! I accidently ordered garlic bread sticks, thinking they were part of the spinach dip. Once we realized the mistake, Natalie cancelled that part of the bill for us. She wasn't particularly friendly be cause she was so busy. But very nice & very efficient. Molly the manager was incredibly rude. From the moment we were seated, Molly was commenting to other tables about how my party had taken all the chairs from other tables... (we had a party of ten and had waited forty minutes to be sat...) She made us feel like our party was a burden and that we were the ones at fault for the lack of chairs on the outside patio. Our server was fabulous. Such a kind gentleman who took the time to validate and confirm our order. For whatever reason a pepperoni pizza was skipped for my four-year-old nephew... and after waiting for forty minutes and finishing our other pizzas we ordered we had asked to see where the pizza was. We waited another twenty minutes hopeful it would come out and it didn't. We asked to speak to the manager and she literally walked away mid sentence. Was rude and condescending to her staff in front of customers. There is a reason they are short staffed... MOLLY IS RUDE TO HER EMPLOYEES AND CUSTOMERS. I have never had such appalling service from a manager. Will never return to this place. I have peace knowing that terrible service leads to a failed business. Again our server was wonderful and I feel absolutely terrible that he has to interact with Molly everyday. That must be rough! read more

Decent pizza and a cool spot - just don't make any changes to pizza toppings because both pizzas came out missing toppings that we ordered. Some of the specialty pizzas seem priced a bit steep compared to the $11 pep which I would suggest over them. Maybe it felt that way because we were missing what we ordered and then got overcharged. I came here for the beer. And they did not disappoint. I had a very nice Kolsch. My wife and I started our meal with two Caesar salad's which were just fine. The service was friendly and attentive. My real complaint was about the pizza. It just wasn't very good. First I don't think that the sauce had much flavor at all. Second, the dough just seemed strange. It was Kind of crumbly. Wow! The crust on their pizza gets them my five stars - by itself. Crispy on the bottom, chewy in the middle, incredible flavor. Maybe the best pizza crust I've ever had. The sauce was great. The cheese was salty and stringy, just as it should be. We had a cheese pizza and a pepperoni pizza, because those are the best tests of a pizza place. And they nailed it. I could have eaten myself sick. We visited at 1:45 on a Sunday during COVID. The service was surprisingly quick. They were taking COVID seriously and looked like they were doing everything right. We sat by the door and had great ventilation. Our server was friendly and prompt. The pizza was out as quickly as you could possibly hope for from a fresh pizza. Paninis had almost nothing on them, seriously ridiculous. 2 small pieces of mozzarella, one slice of tomato and basil. Most of the panini was bread. Regardless, we were hungry and it did taste good. Brown ale was great, decor nice, staff pleasant and brand new bathrooms were welcome after the long train ride.
