We go to this location about every 2 weeks. We love their spicy tenders and gravy and yeast rolls!! We alternate each time we go, as to what we order. If not the tenders, we get their cornmeal fried catfish. Some of the best catfish we have ever gotten anywhere! We always ask for their lotta zing sauce instead of tartar sauce. It's delicious! Their slaw is very good and fresh. Their garden salad is fresh and crispy. They also have delicious fries that we order when we get fish. Golden Chick is one of our favorite fast food places. A young man named Seth usually takes our order. He is so nice and recognizes us each time we go through the drive through. He, also, makes sure our order is correct when it is being bagged. My family and I have been eating at the Golden Chick in Leander for years. They have a great bunch of staff who are always welcoming. The yeast rolls are to die for. Hot and sweet. You can even get a six pack to go. My family live the golden chicken tenders. Fantastic flavor. I go with the catfish. It's fried fresh and never sits under a heat lamp. I always have them fry it extra crispy and spicy. It may be considered fast food but it is some of the best catfish in the area. This location has been remodeled within the last couple of months. New ceiling covering (stamped antique style tin) and ceiling fans. They also installed padded bench seating. Nice modern update and comfortable seating. read more

Catching up on my reviews. (I take notes and keep receipts to ensure I'm on point when I enter it!) We visited this Golden Chick March 13, 2020 during lent. We enjoy Golden Chick for Chicken but we really like the way they cook their catfish. They are very flexible with their menu. They have many "combo" choices in roast chicken, fried chicken and southern fried catfish. Something that I had not seen on previous visits was fried shrimp. On this visit (take out as the news from all over the world was Covid 19 although we weren't under any orders yet) Friday the 13th it was lent and so we both opted for the Southern Fried Catfish Medium Combo. I ordered the 3 piece and hubby the 5 piece meal. This particular combo came with One Side and a Medium Drink. There was also a special where you could add three shrimp for $1.99 extra so we opted for one of those so that we could try the shrimp. Hubby got the macaroni and cheese for his side and I got the mashed potatoes and we also ordered an additional single side of their famous corn nuggets. Everything was hot and delicious and stay that way until I arrived home. I want to go back to the options to let you know they have a huge variety of sides -at least 9 options and you can get them in a single serving or a larger family style serving. We each tried a piece of the fried shrimp and it was good, however it is not something we would order again because we prefer the other main dish options over the shrimp. They also offer chicken and fish sandwiches, and several main dish salads along with a side salad. Their yeast rolls are light and fluffy and so tasty. They have several fountain beverage choices along with sweet and unsweet tea and pink lemonade. I have never had a bad experience at this location in Leander. I have use their drive-through, pick up, and dined in. The property is clean. Their associates are very friendly and very helpful! TLDR: I still recommend this place for a quick, hot meal! So long as you don't invite your cardiologist, you'll enjoy yourself. This location has quality customer service, speed, and good fried chicken that demotes the 'Colonel' down to a buck private. Aside from the chicken itself, I had to praise two more items I had the good fortune to try. First, the chicken salad sandwich is a thing of beauty, served on a hot, fresh yeast roll and including grape slices (!) along with the usual chicken/mayo combo. Second, be sure to try the 'corn nuggets', which are crispy outside, creamy inside and with a burst of fresh corn kernels. If I could get this instead of french fries, I would! He's not able to get out at all so family tries to send him meals as none of us live near him. ( I'm in another state). We ordered the holiday sampler and a chicken sandwich with some extra sauces. The food was great, the tenders were a little dry but pretty good with the zing sauce. We liked original and spicy tenders. We also got half crispy and half roasted chicken. We definitely prefer crispy for next time. The rolls were good but not almost world famous like they claim. The mashed potatoes tasted like they have some buttermilk and were good with the gravy. Though there was definitely not enough gravy for us. We will for sure be coming back here. The atmosphere is not more than what you would expect I think they deserve 5 stars because they do what they do well. Every time we come in, the service is frendly and quick, and they even bring the food to your table, with no tips. The food is always fresh and hot.
