My 9 year old grandson loves Golden Chick so I took him on one of our outings. I love chicken and this did not disappoint it was hot and had a very good crunchy coating. The rolls were also hot and very good. The only thing I did not care for was their fried okra. I am a fried okra snob and it has to be hot and have a crunchy coating. It had neither. I am giving Golden Chick three stars because their fried chicken and chicken tenders are pretty tasty. The yeast rolls are downright addictive. However, the wait in the drive thru is crazy! I think the varied menu is just too much for a small fast food joint and that probably contributes to the crazy wait times. Earlier this week i ordered three individual meals from the drive through with only one car ahead of me and it was 26 minutes later when I finally got my order. They told me that one item was not available so they subbed extra chicken tenders. The side dishes are not good. The mac and cheese is the worst I have seen- soggy mac noodles with glowing orange processed cheese sauce. My five year old nephew would not eat it. The fruit salad looks to be a cocktail mix poured straight from the can. Green beans were beyond over cooked and could have been made into baby food with a few quick shakes of the container. I will definitely order chicken and rolls from Golden Chick again, but next time I will call my order in ahead and do my own sides. read more

I had to wait for 7 minutes in the drive through line to get my order taken. My order came out incomplete and when I went to serve the mashed potatoes they were powdery and I had to mix them with water. read more

I love the food here. Its always very tasty and fresh. Lots of sides choices. Chicken is delicious, catfish even better. Only down side I have to say is the portions seem a bit small. All in all not bad at all. read more

Best chicken fingers at a fast food place. Love that they have catfish and so many sides to choose from. The chicken and rolls are really good. Most of the sides are average in quality. Their yeast rolls and french fries are a must! We usually order their fried chicken and spicy chicken tenders which never fail to satisfy our needs. Their Lotta Zing spice is the best! There's also a icecream machine inside so help yourself to unlimited icecream. The only problem I had with this location was that they gave us fried okra instead of French fries last time we came. We didn't notice until we got home and had to miss out on their delicious fries:( Overall, would prefer over the Wylie and Garland location. read more

The Murphy location is a nice location to eat at and they serve up excellent food as far as I am concerned. The food is always tasty. What also sets this apart from the other diner's that serve chicken is the variety in Murphy. They have tenders, fried chicken, roasted chicken, chicken salad with plenty of sides to choose from and their rolls , are very yummy. Dine in, an employee will be out with a basket of rolls, giving out extra ones and you get complimentary ice cream for dessert. I live by this place, and drove by it several times and never thought to try it. Once I did, I was hooked. We got chicken strips (spicy) meal. It came with rolls, gravy, and a side. It was so good. The chicken was fresh, and unlike other fried chicken joints they had a good amount of meat (not just breading). We did drive thru, but even the staff was nice. I have gone back several times. Customer service was good, but it is TEXAS, and that's the norm here. The only reason I'm giving this location two stars is because the chicken itself was actually good. The sides and service however were NOT. My husband went through the drive through and got a family meal-15 pieces with 4 sides. He got home, the fries and the gravy were not in the bag. My husband is pretty annoyed because this has happened before and we just let it go. Not this time. He drove back and went in and got the rest of his order (pretty fast I might add, I think the look on his face was enough to get them moving!). The coleslaw had a horrible after taste like it's been sitting in the fridge collecting all kinds of odors and tastes The rolls you might ask? We literally had to "break it" apart it was so hard. I'm pretty sure it was reheated from last night! We are very disappointed :/ it was not a good experience and they are usually good. I really hope they're not going downhill!! read more

This was literally the worst experience I have ever had at any Golden Chick location. Not only was the food, old and stale. THE STAFF IS HORRIBLE. I actually bonded with one of the customers in the lobby, because of how mean and rude Candice treats customers. We also bonded about them getting orders wrong and blaming the customer. I was picking up food that was completely missing from our order, but Candice interrogated me like I worked for her. Another employee named Alyssa was apathetic and cared more about talking to the boy customers than doing her job. This location needs a HUGE lesson in customer service, ethics, and all things restaurant etiquette. I suggest you go to Chick-fil-a or Raising Canes for that fried chicken craving. Went to this location of Golden Chick today because the service at the Golden Chick in Wylie, where we use to go had gotten so bad that we didn't want to go back, even though we love the food. I wouldn't have believed it, but the service at this Murphy Golden Chick was even worse. The food was still great, but...first off, they didn't have any side salads. None what so ever. Then, there was no ice in the drink machine. Not only was there no ice, but the carbonation in the drinks was zero. Yuck. Top that off with, we waited and waited and waited before we got our food and there were only 2 orders in front of us in line (and absolutely no other people in the whole location, so their orders could not have been backed up due to their being busy. Finish that up with, the ice cream machine was not working. Well, I guess we will be trying out Chicken Express next time we get chicken hungry. read more

It seems that every time I have gone to this location, there has been an issue where they cannot meet the order and have to substitute for something. I am pretty easy going and a person of habit so I have never minded and always gone back... till this evening. I was craving chicken, looked online and saw they closed at 10:30. As cold as it was, I got into my car and drove over there, arriving at 10:01. When I walked up to the door, the door confirmed 10:30, yet when I walked in, they told me they were closed. I don't mind the other issues because I am easy going, but this issue is something I cannot stand. If you are open till 10:30, then be open till 10:30. I don't know if this is a Golden Chic policy, or the policy of the person who bought into the franchise, but it sucks. Fortunately, I went down the street to Raising Canes. I had never eaten there before and was surprised at how good it was. This particular Golden chic is sketchy, as the quality is sometimes good and other times not so good. However, for a first time, this Raising Canes was awesome! I am so glad I went there. I will never go to Golden Chic again. Raising canes had better employees, faster and better service, and far better food. On Sept 1st I decided to give them another try. I went through drive through and ordered 10 legs and thighs. They said 20 min. 20 minutes? Are you kidding? This tells me that the management has no clue? Do you realize this is fast food? 20 minutes is not fast food? I picture a stupid teen saying "uh, we just ran out". and a manager saying; "Uh, should we put more chicken down"? Yes idiot. you should, long before people are going to have to wait 20 minutes. read more

Where do I start? Every time that you pull up in the drive thru you will be waiting no longer than 10 minutes before someone decides to greet you and take your order. I was waiting so long that I was afraid that the restaurant had closed early or they were being robbed. I kept hollering hello!!!!! Now, when you finally get your order taken prepare to wait another 10 mins to get your food. Once you get your food, please check your order before leaving. Or you will be disappointed. The last time that I went, I was given an yeast roll that was not cooked all the way. It was soo raw that you could still smell the yeast. I guess they had the oven on high. The outside of the roll was golden brown, and the inside was straight up dough. I will find another location to do business with. Could not post without giving at least one star, but the research no stars because of their poor service. read more
