Lots of free parking. The café is located in a commercial complex of offices and warehouses. The owners have been here for 17 years and the café originally opened in 1990. I come here probably three to four times a week. I just love this place! The only reason why it's not five stars is - it's cash only! It drives me nuts to try and bring cash with me anytime I go. Jenny (the owner) knows me by name and exactly what I want to eat as soon as I show up. I always get the breakfast - two toast, two eggs, two sausage, hashbrowns, a side of bacon and a coffee. It's $8.25! Always leaves me full for the rest of the day. Jenny is as cute as a button and always smiling. Another option, when sometimes breakfast isn't tantilizing the pallet is their Chinese food. It's hit and miss, but always tasty. I get the three item - bbq pork chow mein, shrimp fried rice and the almond chicken (with sauce on the side) The decor hasn't been changed in the twenty years they have been there, but hey - it's cheap and good food. She will probably make you anything you want if you ask for it. Though, I wouldn't recommend the apple pie.. it's not that tasty. Try it! You won't be disappointed. We went for breakfast at the Golden Coin this morning and it was quite a rich cultural experience! Like stepping back in time. Old-fashioned cash register items written on the wall faded paper and very dated decor but I wouldn't change a thing! The food was cheap coffee was hot the owners were attentive and most entertaining of all were the other customers - a group of 80 something older men solving all the problems of Richmond Vancouver & British Columbia! We enjoyed ham and cheese omelettes with pan fries and steaming hot coffee. Came out of there for under $15 including the tip. Totally recommend for the experience. Cash only. Makes one wonder what the state of the kitchen is like. Do your bowels a favour and skip a meal if you must. Most people eating there are coming from the company next door for lack of nearby options. The food is terrible! I think most dogs would complain. The liberal use of ketchup in the 'sauces' is inexcusable. The cooking oil used smells unclean and over used. The 'Chinese' options are not very Chinese even when compared to the most Westernised slop. I didn't try the cafeteria options, but I saw them bring out 'dishes' that made me long for BC Ferries. I have been coming here since 1997. Although the owners have changed, the food actually has gotten better. This mom and pop restaurant does many of its entree from scratch. I usually get the breakfast and I am never disappointed. Pancakes and sausages for $2.99. Veggie omlette for like $4.50. Steak breakfast for like $7. I really like their chow mein chow fun meals. The beef liver is awesome too. Now I take my son there. I will keep going until they retire. Of note, the decor is very very outdated. Like of like a bus stop cafe. Its clean and spacious. The price and service more than over compensates for this. And there is TV too! Jenny the waitress knows me by name and the chef David use to work in a fancy hotel kitchen.
