Walked in and the shorter mid 20s mexican lady ringing out meals behind counter kept pushing me to pay but i couldnt due to the customers waiting to be seated in front so she tried fo take my card from me and i told her no i would wait. Some of the meats (porkchops) were overcooked or sitting too long so they were not chewable. .Plates were a rare find as we had to serach the stands fo find 2 or 3 plates at 1 time. Oscar was great!!! Service was top notch on this busy Sunday. We have not visited in a while but glad we did!!! Lots of new menu items on the buffet!! They added these homemade chips w/seasoning that were delicious. The fried chicken was so crunchy!!! After paying $42 basically and having a not so good experience, I will be taking a break from Golden Corral, at least this location. The first issue, which was my mistake is I came in at 7pm not knowing they close at 8pm. I did not rate them based on this as that was on me and I should have checked. We had ordered our drinks and sat down at 702pm and at exactly 712pm a waitress walked by so I stopped her and kindly asked who my server was so I could ask for our drinks and that we have been sitting here for 10 minutes waiting for drinks so we can retrieve our food. Who wants to eat ans have nothing to wash it down with, right? Well, she said I'm your server and it has not been 10 minutes so I replied with showing her the receipt and showing her my watch and said it has been 10 minutes. She then said well I have other tables too yet we havent been greeted or given drinks and we haven't moved in 10 minutes. So after waiting then her arguing with us we were left around 45 minutes or less to enjoy a buffet with a lot of attitude. This waitress (name was Maria Delorious) had an attitude with us the entire time yet we remained polite and continued saying thank you for any service we received. I had gotten the meatloaf, corn dogs, churros, and potatoes. The corn dogs were cold and the churros were so hard that could have cracked a tooth. The meatloaf and potatoes were great so I gave them a couple of stars for that. I also tried the steak and they were cooked just as I asked. It seems to be so difficult to get prompt service that is respectful. Okay, first off I think the FDA needs to stop by this place. So many thinks were wrong when I walked in, starting off with the pineapple this may not be a big deal to you, but it was shredded. This should have been a warning sign.. Next, I got a steak and asked for WELL DONE. What did I get? A raw steak that was literally still bloody. not even exaggerating. We came for Lunch Special discount pricing and the drink was furnished at no additional charge. It was senior hours of 1 pm to 3 pm. The salad bar was fresh, crisp and plentiful. We were sad that tuna salad was not available but tried the chicken salad and it was a no taste, it looked appetizing but was tasteless. The Taco Bar only had one ground beef source so we used that in the taco shells. The meat filling looked more like smushed up meatloaf and was really too grease laden to make us happy. The boneless fried fish was crispy good and the tarter sauce was tasty. We liked the pot roast . The pizza was good. The first glass of lemonade was really good but the refill came to the table all foamy on top and we declined it and got black decaf coffee in it's place. Even the grossly sticky floor couldn't deter me from getting my eat on...even though it probably should. As Golden Corrals goes, this is one of the best in the city, food wise. Someone in the kitchen knows how to season food. The counters are clean and in the food prep area seems to be clean. If you pay no attention to the swamp-like carpet that has had way too many drinks spilled on it you'll be fine. The food is hot and plentiful. The service is always nice too. What a show. There was a line to the door, which is fine and expected at 6:30 on a Sunday night. There were two cashiers but for some reason there was only one line dispersed into two at the front for both cashiers. Why there wasn't an employee or manager directing the traffic line into two lines is beyond me. There was a family of about 20 that was in front of us that consistently just had more and more people added to it. Every two minutes, someone would cut us in line because "their family was already here in line." WTF? For the two of us, including drinks, was $35. Which wasn't a surprise. They had zero plates a majority of the time we were there and ran out of silverware. Staff started passing out pre-packaged plastic silverware. How are you going to charge $15 a person, have zero plates for them to use, and give them plastic silverware? There were children running around everywhere. Seriously, you could have confused this place for a Chucky Cheeses. Not sure why they have visibly stated rules that children should be accompanied by an adult at all times, if they don't enforce it. I had to hold my plate up so one of the kids playing tag wouldn't run into my food. The waiter was yelling. Literally shouting at a table in the room we were in. "You got yo drank?" "Y'all all good???" "What did you have to drink" all the way across the room. What food there was tasted okay. Your typical GC quality. The dessert section was a complete mess and a lot of the food trays, like the plates and silverware, were empty. I understand that this isn't a 5 star restaurant, but I also feel like consumers deserve better if they're paying $15 a head. The food is not worth the risk you take. You're gambling on whether or not your food is fresh, the atmosphere isn't that of a elementary school playground, and if you will or will not have metal silverware. Four stars because the front of house staff is courteous and polite, and the food is a-okay. But if you're visiting Golden Corral, you're looking for quantity over quality, and appreciate variety that is consistently decent tasting. I visited this location after a student told me that her family drove all the way to the west side because this Golden Corral is the best one in Indy. I would agree with that sentiment (as the Northeast location closed unexpectedly.) Would have given 5 stars, had it not been for our waitress who ignored us from the moment we entered the dining room. I guess since we had glasses of water, she felt we wouldn't be the tipping type. She frequented the tables beside us, being very friendly with them, but never approached or acknowledged my family- not even once. In the middle of bussing the table behind us, she started texting on her phone, then wandered off- leaving a whole tray of dirty dishes and cleaning supplies right between our table and another occupied table. Some other employee came by later to take her things to the back, and we literally never saw her again. We would have happily tipped our waitress, had she so much as refilled our glasses once or removed a single finished plate from our table. Freezing the entire time we were there.All customers had their coats on. My husband and I each talked to the person who seemed to be in charge. He said he glad just turned it up to 70 but it was still freezing and could feel no heat at all. When we went to other end for dessert found that it was a little better there but still old and all customers had their coats on. Server told us it had been cold all day. Customer best guy his food and then said it was too cold to try to eat so he left (after psying but before eating). Ridiculous to try to eat when it was so cold. Picked up a craving for some traditional American fare and decided on here. We found a wide selection of food here which was a plus. It's been a few years since stepping in a buffet and my Golden Corral memories were not bad. The food tonight was overall average at best. The ribs were my favorite part. I enjoyed the traditional baby back but the brown sugar glazed weren't very pleasing, despite the cooks encouragement to give them a try. I also had green beans and roasted red potatoes that looked recently added to the line. The rolls were good and a favorite of mine from the past. Unfortunately, the fried fish was disappointing due to dryness and lack of flavor. I also gave the rice with bourbon chicken a try which I didn't want to finish. Our waiter was nice and provided timely drink refills and plate pick up. I'm glad for attentive table service. The waitress certainly helped improve the meal. I am impressed by the cleanliness of this establishment. I also appreciate the service provided by our waiter. The variety is plentiful and the staff is helpful. I do not however appreciate the lack of hot healthy options. Everything that is on the warm side of the buffet is made with sauces or are fried. The only healthier options provided are vegetables and a salad bar. There are plenty of breads to choose from, proteins that are fried and other starches that are available. The choices available from different regions of the world are appreciated. It would also be nice to have more drink choices as there are minimal options available. The tables are clean but, the chairs are uncomfortable. It is a good place if you are hungry and in the area.
