Steak was delish - cooked to order
    Louis L.

Golden Corral (Williamsburg) GOOD: nearly everything - immaculately clean, nice presentation, good food, friendly, efficient service (steak!) BAD: Nothing much, a couple of the dishes looked a little dry but there were 4 great dishes for every dryish - no impact In the class of chain restaurants, GCB Williamsburg scores big. As many say (most impressive) immaculately clean, very inviting. The food, especially cooked to order steak was delicious. You easily get double the price (18.99) in value with two plates of meat (fried chicken also great). The service was great - no waiting on plate clearing which turns me off at other buffets. Well done GCB Williamsburg.

Two of us stopped for a late breakfast buffet (or early lunch?) around 10:30 am on a Friday. We were traveling between Virginia Beach and central Virginia, and were familiar with this Golden Corral as our daughter graduated from W&M in Williamsburg. Food. We enjoyed a nice assortment of breakfast items. Favorite breakfast items included warm buns with sausage gravy (good), mini-waffles with syrupy strawberries and blueberries (good, but would be better with fresh fruit), sautéed mushrooms, onions, and peppers (watery, under-spiced), sausage patties (dried out) and bacon (good, crisp), fresh cantaloupe (food), and orange juice (good, undiluted). *Many different juices were available, including apple, orange, cranberry, and more. These were tasty, and were not diluted. *Drinks were included with the fee upon entrance. My husband ordered coffee; I got hot tea. These were served with creamer; sugar and Equal were on the table. *The plentiful salad bar, and desserts, were available throughout the breakfast service. We each enjoyed a salad, and my husband liked a banana pudding for dessert. Lunch service began around 11 am, and lunch items started to replace breakfast items on the breakfast bar. We tasted the bourbon chicken (good) and corn on cob (water-logged). Ambiance. The food stations stayed well-stocked, and the restaurant was clean and relatively empty. Our waitress brought our drinks, and dropped by once to see if we needed refills. She was nice enough, but not particularly attentive or friendly. Parking was plentiful, free, and relatively easy to access from the Bypass Road. A final note. The restaurant's website mentioned an omelet bar for cooked-to-order eggs, as well as chocolate-dipped strawberry slices. We didn't see either. Price. Our receipt shows that we paid $27.73 for two senior breakfasts, including tax but before tip. ($12.49 x 2, plus $2.75 tax). Our receipt shows " Snr Weekend"; we were surprised that a Friday would be considered weekend though we don't know whether there is a price differential between weekday and weekend.

This was our first time at this Golden Corral and it was AWESOME!!! The foods were DELICIOUS and FLAVORFUL!! The service and prices were great and the servers were very friendly!! It's a GREAT place to go with affordable prices for kids, adults and seniors too!! The entire family enjoyed the experience and the kids had a ball from the time we got there and, especially, at the end to exit where they could play games for quarters! YES!!! I do recommend them to my family, friends, friends of friends and, NOW, the World too!!

The workers were a little bit unorganized and loud. This is definitely a buffet! There is a lot of food options from pizza, to fish! The place is nice for what it is. Lots of seats!! The food tastes good and that is the main part of the review! The sweet potatoes were ehhhh! The utensils, plates, and cups were all clean! Buffets are not my cup of tea but it was good! 50/50 on the recommended. There're definitely nicer places to go eat out but this is a good place to go like for a big group and such!

    Steak

Food was genuinely inedible, feel sick less than 20 minutes after eating. The environment is horrible due to being hot and suffocating. The steak was either completely fat or still had blood in it. Never eating here again.

I like this Golden Corral location. My parents took me here as a child and the staff were always friendly towards us and I thought the food was decent. Golden Corral is about variety and is solid for the price. I preferred it over other buffet chains like Ryans back in the day. Now they seem to be the only one around. I do not stop in Golden Corral too often because I rarely indulge in buffets aside from Peking or Western Sizzlin' all the way in Maryland, but I have made it a personal tradition to go to Golden Corral for their breakfast buffet after my bloodwork appointments. Anyway, they are in the process of renovating this location and look to be done with the interior, but currently still working on the exterior and parking lot. The new interior is much brighter and more open than the previous look, and the buffet is organized in a more condensed way without the separate salad bar and such. Temperatures on the buffet all were kept well, which is expected given the brand new equipment. The whole building was impressively clean, something I do not remember it being when I was younger. They use glass plates now, too. Fancy! During my last visit, I was one of the few people in there, I suppose since it was almost 9 in the morning on a Monday. With that said, they kept the buffet surprisingly fresh with staff members checking the food and changing out items that had been sitting. I only really go for the breakfast buffet, so I am largely basing my comments after that. I have been to the lunch and dinner buffets many times, just not for a couple years. Nonetheless, I always thought the quality and variety was comparable. I shall update my review whenever I go back for anything other than breakfast. I pass by and sometimes their shrimp special interests me, for example. They do the classic breakfast staples like waffles, pancakes, french toast, grits, hash browns, eggs, sausage, and so forth well. They had a few varieties such as strawberry waffles and blueberry pancakes, which were a nice touch. There is fruit and a large array of sweets and desserts, among other things. Everything ranged from fine to good, at least in my opinion. The only thing I did not like was this beef thing that was quite dry and overcooked. On the other hand, the breakfast pizza was far better than it needed to be. The service was friendly last time I was there and it is obvious that they have regular customers who have a friendly relationship with the staff. It was hard to not be attentive to me because I was the only one in the immediate section, but they were nice. This last experience here was better than previous ones in cleanliness and food quality, so I most certainly plan to return.

Their bathroom...that's throw up !! Disgusting!!!

While not great food, it is good food. Unlimited. Sirloin steak cooked to order. Nuff said.

It was awe inspiring to think Jefferson and Washington ate and drank here after House of Burgess meetings. We made a reservation on Open Table for an early dinner since we were traveling the next day. (No lunch reservations taken). They are set up in various rooms throughout the house and the servers and staff are dressed in colonial garb. They speak and serve in old school Fashion which is delightful. They even had a gentleman walking around playing music from the time period. I enjoyed a Rummer refreshing cocktail while hubby had an Apple Jack old Fashioned. The drinks average $15. They also have a fine assortment of wines. They brought a bread basket with super fresh bread and mini corn muffins. They also brought whipped butter, a Virginia ham spread and corn relish. All excellent! We saw peanut soup in several places and ordered it here. It was very different. Very peanutty and super filling. I ordered the crab croquettes which were flaky and delicious. The sauce had just a bit of zing and completed the flavor profile perfectly. Our server Lynette was such a sweet lady. I adored her and she even tied the giant napkins for us to prevent spills and mess. (It was super hot though and we took them off eventually) For dinner, hubby got the beef steak. It had a seasoned butter was cooked medium rare, exactly as hubby asked for. The mashed potatoes were creamy and delish. Also came with perfectly cooked stemmed carrots and string beans. It was a little pricey at $58, but you are also paying for the experience and atmosphere. I was a bit full from the bread, muffins and croquettes, but dug into my onion pye. It was served in a deep tin, covered in a flakey crust and topped with an over light egg, fun onions and scallions. It also came fresh veggies. So yummy!

Black-eyed peas and rice were decent but fully believe they are canned beans just based on the rest of the food. The server said it was Carolina gold rice but it's not based on the texture. It's Sysco parboiled rice. Crab cakes were 80% filling and were bone dry. BBQ chicken sandwich was dry and the bread was stale. Onion pot pie was good and the veggies on the side were good. Husband enjoyed the pecan pie but they put honey on the plate and said the whipped cream was fresh. Okay. Don't believe you but okay. I am fine to eat here to support Colonial Williamsburg but if you come here, make sure you level set your expectations.

Starting with the service, the staff were attentive and welcoming. Unfortunately, the food was underwhelming. While portion sizes were reasonable, several dishes lacked the creativity and seasoning needed to stand out. The mussels and French onion soup were highlights, but the escargot and rotisserie chicken were only average. For dessert, the Gateau Breton is fantastic and a standout! However, I would skip the beignets if you are expecting the traditional version. These are smaller with the consistency of a donut hole, and lack the light, pillowy texture typically associated with classic beignets.

We weren't sure where the restaurant was located within the building so we stopped to ask where the Terrace a room was at a hostess stand where three women were working. They all stared at us like we had dropped from the sky and then one woman gestured down the hall. Except it wasn't down the hall. We were in fact at the Terrace Room hostess stand. Sort of an odd beginning. We were seated at a two top with one chair and a couch with huge pillows scattered all over that left no room to actually sit. Had to toss them to the center of the couch to squeeze in. The menus are giant in size so it's hard to lay them down on the small table. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. We started off with a bourbon cocktail that included some candied ginger and was very refreshing. The server gave us each a small cube of bread and some butter. It was sort of comical how miserly they were with the bread. The menu offerings were sort of odd but we were able to watch what other tables ordered to make our selections. The entree prices are pretty hefty. We each got a Caesar Salad to start that was good. We both settled on the brisket sandwich (a July Fourth special) and one of us got the fries and the other a side of summer veggies that was squash & zucchini. The sandwich was okay but nothing grand for $21 and the veggie side caused us to both explode with laughter at how meager it was. C'mon folks, squash is dirt cheap so load it up. Absolutely ridiculous. Their wine selections were not super familiar to us and pricey but they give you an ample pour. The Inn itself is very beautiful and the night stars shimmering on the reflecting pool out front is very romantic. I'd recommend a drink at the bar and skipping the $200 dinner for two.
