What a great restaurant all around! Warm, attentive service and excellent food -- every menu item we ordered was on point. I ordered appetizers thinking I wouldn't have leftovers. I live on the south side and had an hour-and-a-half ghost tour plus an hour drive home. The staff kindly accommodated my odd request for a bag of ice so I could safely transport the food. My friend had the crab masala -- wow! It truly lived up to the "lump crab" name. No crabmeat was spared: a jubilee of crabmeat simmering in a creamy masala. I couldn't stop saying how delicious it was. The gobi manchurian was a winner as well. My karamurji was good but very spicy for me; the basmati rice helped cool it down. In hindsight I probably should have ordered some raita. They gave us rose ice cream to share on the house, which was very kind -- light and creamy. Excellent, attentive service. I would definitely return when I'm in town!

Tried Amiraj tonight-- so good! Got the samosa and dal tadka ("Indian hot") and loved both. The spice level was just right for me, and the portion was so big that I'll have leftovers (not typical for me)!! The Samosa was my parents' first intro to Indian food and they liked it! There were many vegan options clearly marked.

We came specifically for dessert. We got two different ice creams, flourless chocolate cake and the pastries which were like mini donuts in honey. The seasonal ice creams were incredible!!! I got the strawberry and my husband got berry coconut. The strawberry was better in my opinion. Chocolate cake was pretty good, very thick and rich. Would return

After a trip to Busch Gardens, we were hungry for a big meal and this place did not disappoint. We wanted something refreshing after a hot day at the park and the salad was just that. It was simple but so fragrant and fresh it started off the meal so perfectly. I got the butter chicken and my partner got the chicken tikka masala and normally, and try his and let him try mine but we were in no mood for sharing because both were so delicious. The service was quick and the staff was so kind and attentive. The place itself was very chic and it perfectly if you want to dress up a little on a date night. The sweetest part was that I told them it was my partner's birthday, and they gave him a free dessert with happy birthday written on it. I didn't know they were going to do that and I had already ordered some Gulab Jamun to end the night with something sweet. When we go back to Williamsburg, we will definitely stop by again!

The staff are awesome! We asked if they had any GF naan, and they created a chickpea version. I so appreciate the effort! I love the chicken hariyali lazzatdar...reminds me of korma and curry at the same time. The flavors meld perfectly! I get it nondairy, and it's simple delicious!! I also had the vegetable korma for comparison. It was good, but I like the hariyali lazzatdar best! We tried the karara murg, which reminds you of butter chicken, but with more wow factor. It was excellent!

Wonderful place to eat a delicious and very scrumptious dinner of Karara Murg, GarlicNaan, Crab Masala, House chai, and Gobhi Manchurian, Anch Chili Mango Shrimp!! The crab masala was chock full of tender, sweet crab meat!! The Gobhi Manchurian was spicy hot and delicious!!! The house chai warm and cozy!! Service is impressive and impeccable!! Highly recommend this place!!!

We didn't have reservations since we accidentally came across the restaurant. Was seated immediately and the aesthetics was very beautiful with every detail. Food was very flavorful and delicious! We got so many appetizers and entrees and everything was customized to our spice preference. Would definitely come back!

My first time and they were so helpful with talking about each sauce and menu items paired together. I will be back!! Beautiful decor and great ambiance!

Amiraj is the perfect mix of contemporary, casual, and swanky. You can go here for a date night or in yoga pants and feel comfortable with either. The servers are very welcoming, and helpful. Our server made some great suggestions for our dinners. The wine list is extensive and the selection of traditional and modern dishes offers great options for all diets and palate preferences. My partner had the lamb vindaloo and I had the chicken tikka masala. The lamb was perfectly braised with the right amount of spice. The chicken was tender and the masala was the best combination of sweet and savory. We also had buttered chicken kulcha which absolutely did not disappoint. The sauce was very fresh and complimented the seasonings well. If you're in a hurry for lunch Amiraj has some great carry out lunch specials worth considering. Overall, a wonderful atmosphere with just as wonderful food.

This Indian food restaurant is excellent. Ordered appetizers and the Chicken tika masala which came with an excellent sauce and rice. The chicken was hot and the carrot, broq vegetables crispy... The house salad was also fresh. Service was prompt and friendly. Decor was impressive in a quiet classy way.

Amiraj is 1 of three Indian restaurants in Williamsburg. This and Marsala Cafe go back and forth being my favorite. What I love about Amiraj is the dinning room. It is uniquely decorated, clean, and large crowds don't cause it to be too loud. The menu has all the things Indian and they are tasty. Notably is that they have a nice craft cocktail list. The wine list is quite extensive and the wait staff is very attentive. So if you are hankering for some Indian you won't go wrong here.

A friend and I went to Amiraj based on a recommendation and the food did not disappoint! I have been to many Indian restaurants across the US and Amiraj's food was top 10 Indian food I've ever had at a restaurant. I would give Amiraj 4.5 stars as the service could have been improved (see below), but the food makes Amiraj worth five stars. My friend and I recently went to Amiraj for an early weekend dinner and were seated immediately. Despite the restaurant being mostly empty, our food (other than an appetizer) took 35 minutes to arrive from the time we ordered it due to many takeout orders that needed to be filled. While our server did not let us know about the delay until after our food came out, our server unprompted apologized to us and gave us a complementary gulab jamun for dessert. I appreciated that Amiraj acknowledged that they made a mistake and did right by us unprompted-it is a sign of a great restaurant. My friend and I shared the Chili Garlic Naan and the Rosemary Blue Cheese Kulchas and I got the Lamb Kozhambu at the five level spice. All the food was fantastic-the naan was warm, garlicky, and had a slight kick, while the kulcha was stuffed with the perfect amount of cheese. My Lamb Kozhambu was exactly the level of spice I was looking for (very hot-be careful if you don't have a high spice tolerance)! The lamb was tender, there was a good amount of lamb in the dish, the spices and flavors came through, and Amiraj provided plenty of complementary, well-cooked rice. The gulab jamun was delicious, and I liked that it was not too sweet and that the pistachio flavor came through. I would highly recommend Amiraj for a meal if you are in Williamsburg!

It was like a Southern charcuterie board and was honestly pretty substantial. This started things off on a very high note. It was beautiful presented, carefully curated, and it tasted excellent. One question though, how are they not offering a ham sandwich with that amazing ham? What a highlight that was with their pickled onions. My husband had the catch of the day, which was sword fish and he ordered the pimento Mac and cheese on the side. I had a chance to try both and was very impressed. My father ordered the bone in pork chop, which is I must say, was the star dish. My mother had the cavatelli, which she actually finished and she never finished anything! And lastly, I had the burger, which despite asking for it to be medium rare I received it well done. It was still good and it maintained moisture, so I won't dock a point for that and the fries it came with were terrific. One thing is for certain, they clearly put a lot of thought into the menu. Every dish is clearly very well thought out. I really enjoyed the cocktails. My husband and I had a mojito and a strawberry mojito. They were both terrific. Initially though, my husband had ordered the horchata probibida. He asked to send it back because it didn't taste anything like horchata. As far as service is concerned, our waiter was excellent. Personable, knowledgable, friendly. You can't really ask for more. The ambiance was really nice. It had a polished, modern feel that made us feel comfortable to sit back with a cocktails and enjoy our time together. As far as I'm concerned, Williamsburg has no shortage of places that cater to visitors, but the Amber Ox is a restaurant that would be sought out regardless of the city that it's in. I highly recommend visiting here and this will be a place I visit again when I return to Williamsburg.

We weren't sure where the restaurant was located within the building so we stopped to ask where the Terrace a room was at a hostess stand where three women were working. They all stared at us like we had dropped from the sky and then one woman gestured down the hall. Except it wasn't down the hall. We were in fact at the Terrace Room hostess stand. Sort of an odd beginning. We were seated at a two top with one chair and a couch with huge pillows scattered all over that left no room to actually sit. Had to toss them to the center of the couch to squeeze in. The menus are giant in size so it's hard to lay them down on the small table. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. We started off with a bourbon cocktail that included some candied ginger and was very refreshing. The server gave us each a small cube of bread and some butter. It was sort of comical how miserly they were with the bread. The menu offerings were sort of odd but we were able to watch what other tables ordered to make our selections. The entree prices are pretty hefty. We each got a Caesar Salad to start that was good. We both settled on the brisket sandwich (a July Fourth special) and one of us got the fries and the other a side of summer veggies that was squash & zucchini. The sandwich was okay but nothing grand for $21 and the veggie side caused us to both explode with laughter at how meager it was. C'mon folks, squash is dirt cheap so load it up. Absolutely ridiculous. Their wine selections were not super familiar to us and pricey but they give you an ample pour. The Inn itself is very beautiful and the night stars shimmering on the reflecting pool out front is very romantic. I'd recommend a drink at the bar and skipping the $200 dinner for two.

They even had a gentleman walking around playing music from the time period. I enjoyed a Rummer refreshing cocktail while hubby had an Apple Jack old Fashioned. The drinks average $15. They also have a fine assortment of wines. They brought a bread basket with super fresh bread and mini corn muffins. They also brought whipped butter, a Virginia ham spread and corn relish. All excellent! We saw peanut soup in several places and ordered it here. It was very different. Very peanutty and super filling. I ordered the crab croquettes which were flaky and delicious. The sauce had just a bit of zing and completed the flavor profile perfectly. Our server Lynette was such a sweet lady.
