Well today was our second visit, with the first time being about 8 months ago. Frankly, I could cut and paste my last review for today. It was absolutely just a good as it was 8 months ago. Our server and all the staff were very friendly and attentive. I'm sure our water and sweet tea glasses were filled 2 or 3 times without asking. The food: well we like what we had before so much the wifey and I had same things. Her, the Saag with Chicken and me, the Shrimp & Chicken Zafrani. Both tasted great. The only thing is for me - I do wish my meal had maybe 1 more shrimp and 1 more chicken piece. Now this was the lunch meals, so maybe the dinner meal has a bit more. But still for $20 it was a nice meal. As for the location: Still after 8 months, looks great, well kept and clean. I will be back again and recommend you give this place a chance. read more

What a great restaurant all around! Warm, attentive service and excellent food -- every menu item we ordered was on point. I ordered appetizers thinking I wouldn't have leftovers. I live on the south side and had an hour-and-a-half ghost tour plus an hour drive home. The staff kindly accommodated my odd request for a bag of ice so I could safely transport the food. My friend had the crab masala -- wow! It truly lived up to the "lump crab" name. No crabmeat was spared: a jubilee of crabmeat simmering in a creamy masala. I couldn't stop saying how delicious it was. The gobi manchurian was a winner as well. My karamurji was good but very spicy for me; the basmati rice helped cool it down. In hindsight I probably should have ordered some raita. They gave us rose ice cream to share on the house, which was very kind -- light and creamy. Excellent, attentive service. After a trip to Busch Gardens, we were hungry for a big meal and this place did not disappoint. We wanted something refreshing after a hot day at the park and the salad was just that. It was simple but so fragrant and fresh it started off the meal so perfectly. I got the butter chicken and my partner got the chicken tikka masala and normally, and try his and let him try mine but we were in no mood for sharing because both were so delicious. The service was quick and the staff was so kind and attentive. The place itself was very chic and it perfectly if you want to dress up a little on a date night. The sweetest part was that I told them it was my partner's birthday, and they gave him a free dessert with happy birthday written on it. I didn't know they were going to do that and I had already ordered some Gulab Jamun to end the night with something sweet. Amiraj is the perfect mix of contemporary, casual, and swanky. You can go here for a date night or in yoga pants and feel comfortable with either. The servers are very welcoming, and helpful. Our server made some great suggestions for our dinners. The wine list is extensive and the selection of traditional and modern dishes offers great options for all diets and palate preferences. My partner had the lamb vindaloo and I had the chicken tikka masala. The lamb was perfectly braised with the right amount of spice. The chicken was tender and the masala was the best combination of sweet and savory. We also had buttered chicken kulcha which absolutely did not disappoint. Lovely dining area. Would be good for a date! Came with a group of 10 and they were very accommodating. Even easily did separate checks. They added tip since we were a big group (totally fine) but didn't tell us. Luckily we noticed so we didn't give double 20%! Got the chicken tikka masala which was delicious. Tried several other dishes and everything was good except the dals which were very soupy. You tell them your spice level on a 1-5 scale. I got 2 but there seemed to be some discrepancies on that. I tasted other 2s that were much spicier. Mine was more of a 1 but still tasty. Naan was great! Definitely sharable. Wine list doesn't reflect correct year and I wasn't shown the bottle/label before opening and pouring but it was good wine so it wasn't a huge issue. The food here was outstanding with the exception of the overcooked chicken in the tikka masala. However we are used to our leftovers being carted away, packaged nicely and brought back out to us. A friend and I went to Amiraj based on a recommendation and the food did not disappoint! I have been to many Indian restaurants across the US and Amiraj's food was top 10 Indian food I've ever had at a restaurant. I would give Amiraj 4.5 stars as the service could have been improved (see below), but the food makes Amiraj worth five stars. My friend and I recently went to Amiraj for an early weekend dinner and were seated immediately. Despite the restaurant being mostly empty, our food (other than an appetizer) took 35 minutes to arrive from the time we ordered it due to many takeout orders that needed to be filled. While our server did not let us know about the delay until after our food came out, our server unprompted apologized to us and gave us a complementary gulab jamun for dessert. I appreciated that Amiraj acknowledged that they made a mistake and did right by us unprompted-it is a sign of a great restaurant. My friend and I shared the Chili Garlic Naan and the Rosemary Blue Cheese Kulchas and I got the Lamb Kozhambu at the five level spice. All the food was fantastic-the naan was warm, garlicky, and had a slight kick, while the kulcha was stuffed with the perfect amount of cheese. My Lamb Kozhambu was exactly the level of spice I was looking for (very hot-be careful if you don't have a high spice tolerance)! The lamb was tender, there was a good amount of lamb in the dish, the spices and flavors came through, and Amiraj provided plenty of complementary, well-cooked rice. The gulab jamun was delicious, and I liked that it was not too sweet and that the pistachio flavor came through. I would highly recommend Amiraj for a meal if you are in Williamsburg! read more

I came here because of the good reviews and because somehow most of the good restaurants in the area seem to be close Mon-Wes!!! I have to concur with most of the reviews, we had an Outstanding meal !! One of the best Indian meals I've ever had. Everything seemed fresh and with the right amount of spices. As there were 2 kids in my party the waitress recommended some dishes that were not very spicy. Honestly no complaints about anything I ordered ( chat of the day, butter chicken, chicken korma, goat biryani and even the mango and the pistachio ice cream. I hate to leave a less than stellar review but I was not impressed with the food I ate here. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful. Chicken Tikka Masala had no flavor. It was just like eating salt. I have had this dish in tons of other cities and this was not good because it did not taste like anything. Order was ready in 20-25 mins . Ordered some naans, paneer gravy and paneer starter. It looked an upscale restaurant while picking it up. They had a bar inside and lots of seating (inside and outside). Food was ok. I expected more especially looking at 4.5 reviews. Paneer wasn't spicy and naan was ok. Worst thing is the price .. it was about 60$ for such a small order . Coming from Edison NJ it's a shock for us . Taste didn't justify the money . Amiraj is a very good Indian restaurant. Ambiance is very nice and service was good. I ordered the butter chicken with 3 stars for spice. The only reason I am giving this 4 instead of 5 stars is because I have had better butter chicken (not as flavorful as I expected but the spice level was perfect) and the garlic naan was good but wasn't my favorite. That being said I would certainly go try some more dishes there because the staff was awesome. I would certainly recommend anyone to try it. read more

Fantastic experience every time here. Came today with a group of 7 and they were more than accommodating checking in often to make sure we were doing well. I ordered the lunch special. It begins with a soup or salad. I went with the soup of the day and oh my goodness it was good. The flavoring was all there and the lamb melted in your mouth. I'd go with the soup every time. For my main dish, I had the Lamb Korma. This was lamb in a Mughlai style curry sauce. I also ordered it level 5 spice. It was spicy for sure but after the first couple of bites I adjusted. Again, the lamb melted in my mouth. It was very tender. The sauce was great too and the perfect vessel to dump your rice into. The portions too are generous for being a lunch special. For dessert, I ordered the Badami Kheer. This rice pudding dish was just what I wanted to top off the meal. It is a sweet but not too sweet dish. Finally, to drink, I had the cardamom tea. This tea was good with some great flavor. I probably wouldn't order it again though with the slightly high price tag for a beverage. Overall, I love Amiraj. I feel like I don't come here enough. Hot tip: When ordering door dash, look the place up on Yelp for reviews. It gives you a better out look on the place. So we did jus let that. The reviews were great. We placed our order, butter chicken, chicken tiki and a few other items. Both chicken dishes were fantastic! So much flavor! I think the butter chicken was my favorite. I combined it with some of the rice we had as well, like a curry. Delicious! The chicken used was breast meat just like advertised. I was extremely happy with this! I am weird with meat sometimes. Everything was packed nicely and it was piping hot!! The garlic naan was just what my tastebuds needed.... My stomach later though hahaha. Totally worth the discomfort from all the garlic! Within spitting distance from the Silver Hand Meadery my girlfriend and I went to prior to dinner we were recommended this fine Indian restaurant by some of locals that worked there. Split an order of our go to Indian cusine of choice, Chicken Tikka Masala, along with an order of the Naan bread paired with Cucumber Raita (think yogurt dipping sauce for your bread). Order came with Basmati rice and was the perfect amount of food. I do not go for Indian food often however if you look at Amiraj's menu you can keep coming back here for weeks and get something different each time. This was my first time going to Amiraj and it blew away my expectations. I see why they have amazing reviews. The restaurant is clean and very relaxing atmosphere. They do check in on us when we were sitting down. The staff is friendly. I had gotten the bachelor style chicken curry. It's definitely one of the best curry I've ever really had in my life. My mom had gotten the chicken tikka masala and that was amazing. We had both got plain naan bread which was fresh and taste amazing. My mom and I couldn't stop talking about how delicious very thing was throughout they night. Normally we would go to a different place but not anymore. This place is a relative newcomer in town, but they are already getting a loyal following. The space is surprisingly nice and includes many seating options. The menu is robust but not overwhelming.
