My husband and I wanted to give this place a shot since we recently moved here from Chicago and are trying out all the new places to eat. We decided to get takeout and I ordered the almond chicken platter and him the general tso. First, when you go in this restaurant, coming in the back door by the parking lot, it was so filthy and disgusting that I truly do not know how they stay in business. The prices were higher then their online menus but what can you do. We arrived home and started eating, I literally could taste cigarette smoke on my extremely chewy chicken. My husbands was no better. I couldn't even eat it and we ended up throwing it all away and ordering pizza! Such a shame, Oxford is in need of a decent, CLEAN Chinese food place. Although it's called the "Golden Dragon," there is nothing fancy or flashy about this little place. And that's one of the things we love about it! This is one of those old-style Chinese restaurants where you can get great almond chicken, chow mien, won ton or egg drop soup, and all the other simple Chinese dishes you want, at very reasonable prices, and with personal attention and service. It's not one of the new breed of trendy and expensive quasi-Chinese restaurants that serve you little pieces of chicken or vegetables to wrap in raw lettuce leaves, with soy chili, or other chef's creations at incredible prices. We just moved to the area and gave this place a try. The portions are small, the prices are high and the flavors are bland. It was literally the worst Pad Thai I've ever had, it didn't look or taste like Pad Thai. The General Tsao's didn't have any flavor... It just tasted like breaded chicken in gravy. The Golden Dragon has become one of my favorite places to go for Chinese food. I would strong suggest u get the Won Ton Special. My wife gets it with pork and I get it without meat. I noticed they were doing a strong take out business as I waited and so I thought I was in for a treat. The food was edible, but not very appealing. I have been coming here since I was 10 years old, and I am 20 years old now. Food is amazing, but my addiction is their hot and sour soup. I used to be in a couple times a week to get the hot and sour soup, I just had to have it. I have been here a few times and usually order the same thing, which would be beef with broccoli and brown rice. This meal typically tastes the same at every Chinese restaurant that I have ordered from so it was good. The egg rolls and wonton soup were just as good. The restaurant itself could use a little updating, but nor bad and doesn't have any effect on the food. The man who works there, who I am assuming to be the owner, is so nice! Chinese mean you don't know how to answer the phone so when you call no one answered the phone

You know the food probably wouldn't be bad if it hadn't been steeped in cigarette smoke, the rice smelled like someone sat over and blew smoke over it for a month....I ate some but had to throw rest of it away. Go to the China House by Meijer, awesome food. read more

Just moved to the area so have been using yelp to find new dinner places. Not surprised this place was empty after getting home with my carry out. Sweet and sour chicken was soaked in their sauce- It was overly sweet and so soggy it was not edible. Will not be returning and would never recommend this place. read more

Horrible. Got there an hour before close and our server acted as if we were in there an hour after. After each order we got a very "fine. Next!" As he moved on to the next person. I've had the food a few years ago and it was apparently forgettable, so don't support a real life soup Nazi and go to Alex's or Mings in lake Orion for some great Chinese food. read more

The food used to be very good. In recent years it has really went down hill. I usually get their almond boneless chicken and about 90% of the time the batter isnt even cooked fully making the chicken slimy and gross. The edges are always hard and rubbery. The worst part is their customer service. They just ignore complaints and make it seem like its your fault. A specific example is one time I called to tell them their chicken wasnt fully cooked and all they told me was that it had to be since its cooked at 350 degrees. read more

Food is alright for Americanized Chinese. (obviously you will not find anyone form China eating there). The place itself is a dump. Near the front entry. You have to crawl over the vacuum cleaner, extension cords and junk to hang your coat. You get to sit next to the carry out line with peoples butts in your face. The tables get wiped off and onto the grimy carpet that is 20 years old. The server will carry food in his hands (not on a plate). The back entry is like walking through the house of a hoarder. The kitchen is full of family (Children) cooking. I know well that children don't wash their hands well. Kinda gross. Price wise, well, it is in par with other Chinese places but at least most restaurants have cleanliness to show for it. Time for a Restaurant Makeover and maybe some professional help. read more

Based on the reviews I decided to Give this place a try. My husband can and will eat just about anything, but he would not eat this food. It was extremely bland and was not fresh. Even the rice tasted like it had not been freshly prepared. The egg rolls were too greasy to eat. I love supporting businesses in my area but I won't be supporting this one. read more

I use to eat here all the time. It was pretty good. Now it has become so bad, I will not go back. I had a bad meal here but went back a few months later. It was worst! I tried two more times, both times were bad. The last time was a take out, and when I opened the rice at home, there were bugs in it. Not one, but many small bugs! read more
