I am so happy we have a Vietnamese restaurant in Oakley now! Came in today and ordered to go I got the shaking beef cubes with garlic noodles which is always my favorite. My wife got chicken curry soup and a side of garlic noodles. The food was great and the inside of the restaurant looked really nice. I met Vivian the owner she was a very nice and gracious lady. She told me in about a month they are going to extend the menu and their hours to include Bahn Mi Sandwiches and a breakfast menu. I'm excited about the Bahn Mi sandwiches those are my favorite! I called in a "to-go" order. It was ready within 15 min. I had the Spring Roll appetizer. They were good, I would have liked a little more peanut sauce for the 4 pieces but they were good. I also had the #21 Chicken Combo with chicken, salad, 1 egg roll, 3 shrimp, 1 fried egg and garlic noodles. Portion sizes are good, garlic noodles are yummy along with everything else. Chicken seemed to be a bit dry and I'm thinking if I had some siracha or other sauce it would have helped. I will definitely return to try more items on the menu. Third time here with my family of 7. Eating out is never cheap with my family. Sad to say this will be our last time. I really wanted this to be a go to place in Oakley that serves great food! This visit was super disappointing. My son ordered salt n pepper chicken wings with a side of garlic noodles. They forgot the salt, no flavor wings and noodles were too sweet. Salt and pepper calamari was chewy. Beef pho barely had flavor per my two other sons. I had the beef stew, I love beef stew. I've had it here previously, it was delicious. But tonight it was off. Really off. It barely had any soup/broth in it. Saddest beef stew I've ever seen! Picture attached, see for yourself. I kindly asked if I could have a little more of the broth, server said ok. But came back and said they couldn't offer me more beef stew broth but could bring out beef pho broth. I don't like eating dry soup so I accepted their only option. Checked my bank statement today and found out that Golden Gate pho tipped themselves more than what I actually tipped. I'm not going to call to complaint angrily and try to get my money back cuz it's only $5ish in tips. I ordered two avocado smoothies to go, and it was HELLA expensive, I wasn't expecting to be paying like $22.52 for TWO small sized avocado smoothies and for take out. Like what the helllllll. The math ain't mathin. My husband told me when he got back in the car after picking it up that the total was $19 which included tip. So I said uhhh ok. But tonight when I looked at my bank statement, why the heck is the charge to $22.52? The grand total for the two smoothies is $16.86 which is reasonable and that included the taxes and not the tip. He said he's sure he clicked the lowest tip option because it was only take out and the tip covers for the plastic cup and straw that is in the take out order which came up to be $19 GRAND TOTAL. Food is good but the service is horrible! I've been several times now, my last server was Cale, and the one before was Melissa. Both were horrible. Cale never even came to the table. A guy named Juan took care of all the tables. I think he was the busses. He was great! The servers seem to have no supervision. They sit and talk, watch videos on their phones, or just hang out with each other. I'm guessing they are related to the owner. If it weren't for Juan nothing would get done at the tables. Me and my boyfriend went to GGP yesterday, and it's actually good. The reason why I said actually is because the ones around brentwood or out of brentwood taste like nothing. But GGP, it tastes really good, i know some people don't add the sauces that are on the table, but coming from a Hmong and mien person, add that sh*t in there yall i know some don't add it because of health problems or issues, but if you don't trust me and add them! if u don't like spice, you guys don't have to add the spice.
