Take out took over two hours and never delivered my order!!!!When I called to check the order, the rep said the driver was around the corner and yet no one showed up. Therefore, I drove to the place to demand a refund and there was a line coming out of the building, orders sitting there not being filled, horrible customer service too. After demanding an explanation, the Customer Service Rep stated that calls are being answered from New York through an affiliate line so they "Lied" when they said order was with the driver waiting to be delivered around the corner. When I demanded to talk to the owner, Customer Rep said that the owner is the cook and doesn't speak a word of English! He said he refunded my order after I demanded to see the receipt, he said, why, I should trust him after waiting over two hours for an order and customer reps telling me the driver is on its way but never showed up, this places is a joke!!!! Terrible!!! I find it extremely annoying how every time I order they ask me if I'm paying cash or card. If I tell them card they want the entire card number over the phone. I don't understand why such an inconvenience for a $10 plate. Drives me nuts! Then you get there and they have a $10 minimum charge for cards, this is 2025 everyone has a card. I took the girls to our AIRBNB and came back .. what a pleasure to meet the the owner and his daughter. Doing everything to keep their customers happy. I received my food with apologies.. none were needed as I wasn't in a rush. When I brought the food home.. I have to say amazing.. we are from New Haven CT. We have amazing Chinese restaurants. We decided to place another order at Golden House since we were pretty happy with the food we had recently gotten there. We ordered the Chicken with Cashews which came with white rice. We ordered the Beef with Peppers and Onions which also came with white rice, we ordered steamed dumplings and a Pu Pu Platter. We got a free small wonton soup with our order. The Chicken and Cashews had celery, carrots and onions and was plentiful. It was lacking in cashews but the flavor was very good. The Beef, Peppers and Onions was loaded and also had very good flavor. The steamed dumplings contained 6 and were very tasty however the sauce that came with them we did not like. It was more of a sweet tasting sauce. The Pu Pu Platter had some items we liked and other we did not. On the platter was two wings, two beef teriyaki, 4 chicken fingers, 4 crab rangoon, 2 egg rolls and boneless wings. The wings were full wings but not very flavorful and on the smaller side. The beef teriyaki was also lacking flavor but good size pieces. The chicken fingers were good. The crab rangoon were not fluffy like other places and were a little greasy. The egg rolls were good but not our favorite like other restaurants. There were few boneless ribs. In our opinion, there was more we disliked than we liked and would not order again. The soup contained 4 wontons and some green onions. The broth had good flavor but the soup was lacking the pork and bok choy other restaurants include which make theirs outstanding and more like a meal on its own. Not bad though for basic wonton soup. We stopped going here several years ago because the food went way down in quality. We got a new menu in the mail and decided to try it again because it said there were new owners. The teriyaki beef was grey and smelled odd. I tried it anyway and it was chewy and not like any teriyaki that I ever had. I also ordered the crab rangoons. The outside had the texture and taste of cardboard. The inside had sugar that was still crystallized. The General Tso's was also extremely disappointing with little taste. I could go on with the other things we ordered but I think the point is pretty well made.... My husband actually told me to throw out the menu. This was on a Friday, early evening. So glad I checked after he purchased his food otherwise we would've never order from here! I use to eat at GH when it was back on Taunton Ave. The food is absolutely delicious!!! My kids and are so picky and they loved the General Taos. I loveddddd the pepper steak, I'm so upset I didn't order the lunch special instead lol It's the best I've ever had actually. Ordered the egg foo Young from there for the first time in quite a while and I was totally disappointed with the quality of the meal. The Egg foo young was burnt and crusty, the rice was blah and the gravy had no flavor also used to be a good place before the pandemic I don't know if you changed your Ingredients but it's half as good as it used to be and it was only a seven out of 10 before so I give you a 3 1/2 out of 10 and that's being generous I threw it in the trash may be the rats and cats will enjoy it. read more

The last couple of take-outs at Golden House have been horrible experiences. I will never call for delivery service on a Friday night again. After ordering food for two, we waited for two hours before getting our food (probably busy night). As expected the food was delivered cold and the driver never apologized and seemed a bit angry with the small tip we gave him. Yes, we still gave the driver a tip after waiting for two hours. I have noticed that the food is now rather tasteless and at times has a nasty oily smell. We had the Kungpao beef combo plate with pork lomein and a side of crabrangoons. The combo plate came with wonton soup and a veggie egg roll ! SO delicious. The combo plate itself was flavorful too. The crab Rangoons were delicious and crunchy! Everything was fresh. The delivery driver, Steve was also super awesome and friendly! I was not disappointed for the amount of food I received!! The flavors were boring. It was a cookie-cutter mish mash of flavors. Nothing amazing, but nothing horrible or inedible. The wontons were delicious, and instead of having a tiny dab of meat like most places do, this had a decent amount of meat. I didn't think I'd like the fried rice. It was practically white, so I figured it would be bland. To my surprise, it did have flavor...but again, it was just ok. All in all I decided that I wouldn't be opposed to eating here again, but I also wouldn't go out of my way. They're always polite and pleasant, I've never had a bad experience from them and I've been ordering for many years. When I lived in East Providence I was never disappointed with the delivery times. They're food is perfect. It's even amazing as leftovers. The crab Rangoon is the BEST crab Rangoon, it is unbeatable and I refuse to eat crab Rangoon anywhere else. I am pretty picky about Chinese food and I really like this place. It's cheap and the food is always hot and tastes good to me. I do like plain rice though so I guess if u don't u may not like it. I highly recommend this restaurant. I always get the lunch combo number 16, and the rice is well cooked and moist, the boneless spare ribs are amazing and the fried chicken is also great. Great place to go if you are in the mood for American Chinese food. The delivery is always convenient. One thing I wish Golden House had is bigger indoor seating and tables to eat and enjoy the food. Other then that it is my #1 place to go when I am hungry for American Chinese food. The workers are extremely nice and courteous. The food service is quick. This was the worst Chinese food experience I've ever had. I just downloaded this app specifically to write this review. I ordered a simple plate. Chicken fingers with pork fried rice and beef teriyaki. When the order arrived, it contained FOUR chicken fingers (instead of 6 that is listed), the rice had almost no meat involved, and the beef teriyaki was small and cold. All of the food was unsatisfying and bland. They did not speak kindly to me on the phone and did not even look me in the eyes, let alone smile, when the delivery driver arrived. On another note, even the duck sauce was terrible. They give large containers but instead of the slow flowing syrup like consistency it should have, it was almost the viscosity of water. This business clearly waters down their duck sauce and does everything in their power to save a quick buck. They do not have one ounce of respect for their customers. read more
