I'm from Phoenix Az and was recommended to try this place out, the photos of the food didn't look so well, but wanted to give it a chance anyways. The drive through line was kinda long but it went by very fast!!! Our food was hot and the chicken was flavorful and moist. The ribs were like average but good. The mash potatoes and gravy kinda bland, needs some Cajun or something lol. If you love cheese get the mac n cheese. The bbq sauce was very runny. This is my favorite Golden Pride location. Kind of like a Frontier, but a more open floor plan. Perfect for a quick lunch or, after a long, hot afternoon there's nothing like coming in for some fried chicken and mashed potatoes (and those rolls, oh). The cinnamon rolls, the fresh-made tortillas. The tacos are also good too. My go-to burrito is the #8 breakfast burrito with eggs, bacon, cheese and hashbrowns. Sometimes I try to mix things up a little by adding green chile or even beans (more of a forkful burrito). They also have one of those Coca Cola freestyle machines (go for the vanilla Sprite). Although the burrito size may have gotten slightly smaller over the years, the quality sure hasn't changed. (Be wary that sometimes people come in asking for handouts or kids coming up to your table trying to sell candy bars to you while you're enjoying your lunch. I love to hunt for the best chicken places. I was ending my trip to Albuquerque, and they had just restricted all the restaurants to take out only. The drive thru was quick and easy. We simply got a 10 piece bucket and two sides. The chicken pieces were difficult to recognize, but they seemed pretty tasty. It could've been a little overcooked, but it'll seem pretty todos if you're hungry. The sides were also tasty. The Cole slaw had to have been the best part of the order. This is a Cole slaw where you got that "creamy" taste with it. The mashed potatoes were good, and they came with this Popeyes like gravy. They also have breakfast burritos that people claim are good. This restaurant USED TO BE GREAT, but the last several times I have ordered through the takeout drive-through,the food was AWFUL. Today, I ordered cheese enchiladas and a side of corn on the cob. When I got them home and opened the container, it looked like a dog had thrown up in there. 2 tiny, flat cheese "enchiladas", half a cup of dry hard beans, half a cup of wilted brown lettuce, and rotten corn on the cob that was so old that half the kernels had emptied of their contents already. There was supposed to be lettuce and tomato. The lettuce was brown and there was no tomato at all. I ordered red and green chile, and I got none. The beans were dry, hard, and undercooked. The corn had OBVIOUSLY already gone rotten BEFORE it was cooked. The cob was dark brown. The nubbins were MUSH. I threw it out. I could not be bothered to drive all the way over there, but I did call them and told them they should be ASHAMED and that I would never come back. He offered to re-make the food, but why would I want a repeat of rotten food? $15.00 for inedible food! It is infuriating. Because of the tariffs, food products have gone up in price. Maybe this is why a restaurant would serve rotten food. Before purchasing at this restaurant today, I hesitated, because I had had several bad experiences. Against my better judgment, I had this experience. I was hungry. I was in the neighborhood. In any case, I have learned my lesson. From the homemade tortillas alone you can tell the quality standard they have with there menu. The food is always amazing. The fact that the drive through is their main way of doing business makes their abysmal drive through service an issue. Shorted food and the rude woman taking orders correcting everyone on the fact that fries are French threatens the existence of this great institution. Golden Pride is definitely one of my favorite restaurants EVER! My go to is the #2 carne adovada breakfast burrito. This burrito has just the right amount of carne adovada, potatoes, eggs and cheese. Their Western Hash Browns are also amazing. I like to pick up an order and cook an over medium egg at home and let the yolk drip all over the potatoes, cheese and green chile. Their green chile, although not super spicy is always incredibly flavorful. I cannot say enough about their cinnamon rolls. They're ooey, gooey and AMAZING! Running late to work and didn't have time to make breakfast? No problem, head through the drive- thru and be in and out in less than five minutes. Another popular burrito, their #9 with bacon is okay. Although when I do go with this option, I find their bacon to be undercooked and definitely filled with more potatoes than the #2. Their chicken is also great. While I prefer their smoked chicken, the fried chicken is also a good option. Their BBQ sauce is sweet with a subtle spice and they're ranch beans are loaded with flavor. I appreciate the friendliness of all of their employees and have never been disappointed with any of my countless Golden Pride experiences. I absolutely love the food. I also love ketchup and get only 1or 2 packs. I asked for 5 packs. She said no. I thought she was joking at first. She was actually serious. I said I would pay for it . A couple of weeks later. I got 2 packs for 2 burritos. I asked for more and the cashier yelled and cussed. I can't believe how tight they are with the ketchup. The best fast Mexican food in Albuquerque and the chicken and ribs are excellent as well. However, the best items at this spin-off of the famous Frontier restaurant are the breakfast burritos (#9 is my standard), the carne hashbrowns, the chicken sandwich ordered "fiesta style" (cheese and green chile), and the carne adovada burrito. Don't be afraid to order anything on the menu, it's all good! Tip: don't avoid the long drive-thru line - it moves fast. Update: Not a fan of the new high tech soda machines. I remember coming here and enjoying the breakfast burritos along with the ribs. I used to say to family coming into town that this was the best place. Sad to say that now the quality of food has fallen. I ordered the number 2 which is supposed to have carne adovada in the burrito and there was none in any of the 2 burritos that were ordered. There was a little bit of red sauce. I hate to say that I get more meat in a taco from Taco Bell. The ribs used to fall right off the bone, but to my disappointment the meat did not and was tough and chewy from the ribs. Me and the family come here monthly. That will not be happening anymore. The customer service as well was not what is used to be. Very sad to see this happening to a great place. Visiting from CA and we had a craving for ribs. Saw the reviews and had to try. The first Golden Pride was out of ribs and didn't want to wait 45 minutes for more to cook, so drove to this location. Very roomy inside. Got the family platter of ribs to-go with potato salad and green beans. Ribs by themselves are really good, but the sauce makes them even better. Sides are good, but the ribs are the star. If we stick around the area, would like to try the burritos and stew. Happy Independence Day everyone!! read more

My 2nd time at this place in one year. I'm not impressed by the food I presumed it may have improved but not from my evaluation. The ribs were dry and had no flavor the coleslaw was the same but the mashed potatoes were good! I believe most ABQ customers have had there taste buds dulled from eating things so hot their flavor buds have been affected. The prices are great here! I'm from California and the carne adovada burrito is out of this world and is filling for under three dollars. The meat is flavorful and the tortilla is homemade and soft. I take mine home and have it with a handful of spinach. My boyfriend grew up in 'querque and loves their #11 breakfast burrito and his mom is a huge fan of their breakfast burritos as well. I realize how popular they are and how hard they are trying to keep up with the demand, however, today I went through the drive thru and ordered a breakfast burrito with green chile. Since their lobby is not open, I pulled over in the parking lot to eat. After taking a bite, I noticed that there was no green chile on it. I waked back over to the drive thru, because you can't even go in to the lobby. They were nice enough to take my burrito back inside, open it up, and put green chile on it. The burrito I had already taken a bite out of. Now it all worked out OK, but it was always my understanding that a restaurant could never take food back over the counter. Got 56 oz. cold green chile stew and a breakfast burrito. Like two weeks ago, chile was watered down--it was more like soup. Really disappointing! Burrito was not rolled and when I opened its wrapper, ingredients fell into my lap. Won't be going back to this location--workers don't take pride in what they serve. No managerial oversight. Part of problem is that only drive through is open--if you don't check your order there, by the time you get home, it's too late. The food is actually pretty tasty. The reason I am giving them one star is because they have become greedy over the course of the last 3 years or so. The number 9 burrito is a fan favorite, and $4.39 almost hitting $5 with tax, you'd expect to get a nice sized burrito. The last few times I've gone through the drive through on Yucca and Central, I come out with a burrito comparable to the size of one of McDonalds ($1) I also used to always buy their chef salads, super yummy. Golden Pride is our go-to restaurant when we eat out with the kids. They have a great menu selection that makes everyone happy. My kids always share a 20 piece nugget with mac and cheese which are amazing. My husband and I are always hoping they get full and save us a few! As far as I'm concerned, there isn't a bad item on the menu. The restaurant itself is large and there's never a line to order unless you go at lunch. My only complaint about the place is the bathrooms which I do everything in my power to avoid. Doors don't lock and they seem really dirty. The staff is always friendly and patient. I called in an order once and was having service issues. I kept trying to tell the person who answered the phone to hold on, that I'd be out of the dead spot in a second and they did. They held on for a minute until my service was better. Most people would have hung up and just expected me to call back. The staff there is truly amazing. read more
