The lady said that would not be possible so i stood up and made my way to the door. She stopped me and told me she would call her boss. Then all of a sudden the number 146 was offered to me. in a way i was like......WTF?!?! Just a second ago the most she offered me is 78 bucks, then all of a sudden she is willing to give me double that. THE BUSINESS PERFORMED HERE IS SHADY. I DECLINED THAT OFFER JUST BECAUSE I WAS LOOKING FOR CASH, NOT A CHECK( WHICH IS THE ONLY FORM OF PAYMENT HERE). I just wanted to give a quick review for these guys. I had an old collection of gold coins that my Dad had given me a while back. We have a few medical bills we need to take care of so I went in to see what I could get for them. I still have the receipts my dad had saved when he bought them in the first place. I was hoping to get maybe half or three quarters of what they were bought for. (Do collectibles actually ever gain in value?) It turns out that they're actually worth MORE. Apparently the price of gold has gone up quite a bit since then. The lady knew I just wanted to get a portion of what they had been bought for and she knew I would have been happy with a much lower offer and she still ended up buying the coins for quite a bit more than the amount on the receipts. 1/28/2013 went into goldmax in east dundee illinois. to sell my gold.I identified my self as harry z. she never gave me her name. i told her this is my first time doing this meaning selling my scrap gold and asked her if they used ounces or penny weight.she replied penny weight. i asked her how many penny weight to an oz and she didn't know.i told her 20 for that standard.. she said they don't tell her. she said she works off a price list and gold max gets 30% / she does not work off of commission, she was paid hourly, and the 30% is for the store and advertisement.the daily price of gold is $1600. she said 1 penny weight of 10k gold is $9.12. i told her from my research it's any were between $34.48 and $34.61 for one penny weight of 10k gold.. the agent said goldmax keeps 30%. i asked her what the penny weight of 14k was and she said $13.48=1pennyweight. when i asked her what the penny weight for 18k she said she could not tell me. i told her as a consumer that she need to disclose this and she went on to say it was against company policy to tell me. i told her she need to tell me, and again the agent said she was not able to tell me or provide a copy of the list. she already gave me the price for the 1ok and 14k pennyweight. she cold only tell me the price of two. i told her when i walked in she "blurbed "it out as an example to me and i didn't ask her how much a pennyweight of 10k gold was. and as a consumer she need to tell me the price for 1 pennyweight of 18k gold. she finally said $17.33 for one pennyweight 18k. (after request 3-4 more times for the information.) i went home and used a calculator. my complaint is: 1 penny weight of 18k gold at 17.33 IS NOT 30%. FOR SAKE OF ARGUMENT, I USED http://www.cashforgoldcalculator.com/ WITH A GOLD PRICE OF $1654.70 or $62.05 per 1 dmt/pennyweight i understand this number is slightly higher and is for an example only. they say 1 dmt/penny weight is $62.05 minus 30% is $18.61. subtracted from $62.05= $43.44.(goldmax price is $17.33 per dmt/pennyweight 18k) my complaint is gold max only pays in reality 30% to the customer and keeps almost 70%. they are in violation of non-disclosure and bait and switch tactics. i understand that gold prices fluxuate on a daily basis and is not my argument. it is the percentage stated of 30% and in reality it's almost 70% (goldmax) keeps as profit.
