Stopped there today, got asked for my ID. I'm 37, but the bartender couldn't read our ids cause she didn't have her glasses. Then proceeded to give someone (a random person) sitting at the bar our ids to check. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional. I get checking ids and that's great. But I just can't believe that happened. I'm not one to really care about small stuff here and there. But giving some random person my IDENTIFICATION is crossing a line. I'm not bashing the food or and other service, because we didn't get any. I just don't appreciate my information given to random people. Growing up in CB I had heard so many great things about this place for breakfast. My family decided to try it out and sadly it did not live up to the hype. Between my wife and kids we ordered French toast, biscuits and gravy. A breakfast burrito and a breakfast skillet as well as coffee and juice and chocolate milk. The coffee had an off putting plastic taste to it and no I'm not a coffee snob it was way off. The biscuits and gravy tasted like it was out of a can. The breakfast burrito was small and instead of steak like advertised it has shaved beef like you'd expect in a cheap Philly or something. The waitress was very nice but was super busy so service was slow. If you are looking for a good breakfast spot in CB stick to Legends or Main Street and steer clear of this place. read more

Had to drop our truck off for some work so decided to do breakfast at Goldmine. Don't have much reason to do breakfast anymore so was looking forward to this. Sue ordered "The Little Miner". Just a basic eggs, H/B, toast, meat, coffee meal. She liked it. Couldn't eat it all, tho. A little disappointed there wasn't any jam on table. Will get to that in a moment. I got "Goldmine Skillet", a combination of H/Bs, onions, peppers, eggs, cheese, which I look for in any place we could go for B/F. Excellent. As a side, server talked me into the pancake vs toast. Said it was very good. Yeah, heard that before then got an inch thick slab of tan batter. This time, not so. Although thicker than I like, it was cooked exactly like I want. Pretty dark on both sides. I know, you don't want it that way but I do. My only down side of this, server got busy and I wanted some HOT sauce. Now, reason for no hot sauce and/or jam? Server was back there cooking. Regular cook split. Another guy came in that may have been owner and took over but not for long time. Server finally came over and said cook got called out and she had to take over. Well, OK, a sign of the times, I guess. Of the server, very nice, tho. We struck up a cord right away (until she got yanked away), when she spotted my 55-57 Chevy T-shirt. She asked if I had one to which I replied, yes. She then proceeded to talk about their 56 with details that only an enthusiast would know. Later showed us pictures of it. Beautiful. Thot I'd seen it before and she said they show a little bit. The Goldmine Bar & Grill does your basic greasy breakfast perfectly. I was wondering why it's always packed but had such meh reviews on yelp so we decided to try it out. First off when you walk in you just find an open seat, they will bring menus to you but they are packed so that may take just a few. Both waitresses that were here today were great, attentive and generous with coffee refills. The coffee is basic coffee, so don't expect anything fancy or flavored - just basic drip coffee. We decided to split the goldminer skillet between the two of us and ordered and extra side of toast. When they brought the food out they were great enough to split he food on two plates even though we never asked or expected them to. Like I mentioned above, food is basic greasy food but the price and atmosphere is so laid back and relaxed that you can't help but love this place. If you're looking for a laid back basic breakfast place, this is one of the places to go in CB. read more

The breakfast is always made to perfection I order the little miner eggs over medium with bacon and toast.

I was recently told this was the best breakfast in CB so I went to today and got breakfast to go for everybody at work. They ordered a Goldmine Skillet with bacon, biscuits & gravy with sausage and french toast with bacon. The only complaint I heard out of anyone was about the side order of bacon - only three slices and not thick cut. But overall everyone was pleased, the order was taken accurately and politely & the food was ready to go when I arrived. I will be back to try lunch and dinner items. read more

Goldmine is convenient for your regular breakfast because they open at 6. However, nothing is 'great', usually mediocre at best. I do not recommend their bloody Mary's. They offer affordable prices on their drinks and beers. I, though, have never been impressed with their service. I had their special today, a Italian sausage sandwich with peppers and onion rings. It came out luke warm with cold cheese on top. The meat tasted like it had been around for a minute. My SO likes their skillet for breakfast. read more

My new favorite greasy spoon in Council Bluffs! Dined here for the first time Sunday morning. The place was packed! My companion and I were seated promptly. Service was excellent and attentive (especially with warming up my coffee), though the food was slow to come out. We ordered the Goldmine omelette with hash browns, coffee ($6.49) and raisin toast ($1 extra, though I don't recall seeing this on the menu), and 2 blueberry pancakes ($4+). The omelette combo was good value; the eggs were stuffed with mushrooms, ham and more, and the hash browns were grilled to perfection. The blueberry pancakes were the largest pancakes I've ever been served! Though the blueberries were strikingly similar to the tiny ones in those Jiffy blueberry muffin mixes, the pancakes themselves were fluffy and perfectly cooked. (Nothing's worst than a burnt pancake, and I've been served my fair share.) There's a reason this is a popular breakfast spot. The service is great and the food is very good and well-priced. Though the atmosphere is nothing to write home about, the restaurant/lounge was clean and almost charmingly no frills. I'll be back! read more

When to the Goldmine for the first time today. It always seemed busy so I never wanted to try it. The moment we entered we were pleasantly surprised on how clean and well lit it was. The waitress was friendly and helpful. There was a large selection on the menu to choose from to eat. We ate breakfast and it was delicious. Ample amount of food on our plates. The restrooms were large and very clean. There is a pool table, video gaming machines and an ATM as well. It looks as though a person could bring their kids there as well. read more

This place and I go back a long time. I moved to this neighborhood with my family in 1960. We used to walk to this place, then a gas station, to get an ice cold soda pop. Now I drive 175 miles so I can have breakfast with two guys I went to school with. I had the skillet. A dish that consists of hash browns, green peppers, onion, bacon and then smothered with cheese and top with two eggs. Very tasty indeed. read more

Just okay. Wife and I both had the goldmine omelette, hashbrowns and sourdough toast. As with another reviewer we were charged extra for something (sourdough). Breakfast is really good there! Delicious food that is pretty consistent. Not a fan of the bar at night, but going off of just food it's a good place to have a meal. Since to remodel it's a lot more room to dine which is nice. Although you can't escape the feeling you are sitting in a bar. read more

We went in after church service on Holy Thursday evening service. Since it was near closing time we checked with management it it would be ok for the family to come in and have dinner. The two owners said yes and invited us to come in and eat. Well that was the end of the good service. If you question the food you get yelled at. Just to sum it up we will never be back. read more

Never again going to the goldmine bar & grill in council bluffs!! Me and my cousins went there to play pool and have some beers and they had free pool table and hot dogs and one of the guys drinking there told the manager that we were a bunch of freeloaders so I went up to him and said "thank you for calling us that, let me buy you a drink" and he refused. Then me and my cousin asked for a corona and the bar tender is like I need I.D so we have it to her and see took the id's back to her manager and then came back and said "we don't have those drinks" so I pulled out $5.00 bill and throw it to her and my cousin throw a $10.00 dollar bill to the guy and I said "THANK YOU FOR YOUR GREAT SERVICE " and walked out. read more
