Came in two weeks ago and got to work with Coach. He was a great salesman and loved our chat. He got me all set up with what I needed. I work close by and thus far everyone has been really sweet to me. Given that I work close by I come in randomly to burn time and look around. I'm always treated with respect and kindness. The store itself has been freshly remodeled and looks great. I must admit I'll jump in the bays at times to try out different clubs and so far I've been treated with nothing but respect. The current staffing actually makes me miss Golfsmith which is not saying much. After multiple visits, testing the environment on different days,I am finally writing this for good measure. Upon entering, I have never been greeted, and I've never been approached for help. When I asked for assistance the smirking distracted sales person essentially seemed put out by my questions so I just walked away, hopefully left him hanging. A depressed environment, GolfTec guys and repair shop guys were very cool though, the stars are for them. Otherwise I'll shop elsewhere, out of town. read more

I'm a big golf fan and love playing golf 2 or 3 times a week with my golf buddies. The golf galaxy store 10001 research blvd has everything you can possible need. I just invested on new sims2 max driver, woods and sims2 irons. I will have to say the staff has always treated me with respect and the salesmen Steve was so very helpful in my purchase. Steve spent time with me on the simulator and gave very good hitting tips. I will be back in the future for more golf stuff when needed. read more

I hate doing this but I cant help but not share. In mid July I ordered some junior clubs for my sons birthday at the beginning of August. I figured that was more than enough time to get there. After weeks of them not coming and having trouble tracking them, I finally checked with support (in mid August). They told me they were delivered a few days prior...to Kentucky! I live in Iowa! They did offer to reship me out the same set for free so I accepted because my son really liked the set. So today (Aug 31st) I contacted support again because they still hadn't come and they were stuck in transit. They told me they were sorry but they were now unavaliable and I would just be refunded. So long story short- I wasted a month and a half waiting on two sets of clubs that were never delivered and my son didn't get his birthday gift. We will be looking elsewhere for our golf gear from now on. read more

This company bought the failing Golfsmith... (yes, Golfsmith failed because of bad management and competition from online)... unfortunately, Golf Galaxy has destroyed any semblance of what Golfsmith once was. The Austin Store has ZERO soul. ZERO!! Pricing is exorbitant. Service is zero. They have a bunch of uninterested employees that wouldn't know their butt from a footjoy. Their selection is horrible. Their pricing is horrible. Their service seems to be horrible. The store looks like it's purposely set up to be able to pick up and close within a few hours. ZERO soul. It's a shame that Austin was left with this. I hope that PGA Superstore considers coming to Austin. Sorry... but I can see you all failing soon. read more

Wow! Where to begin regarding the Golf Galaxy on Research Boulevard in Austin Texas. First of all I've been going to the store for 10 plus years now and have made numerous purchases of golf equipment and golf apparel at this location during this time. The current staff in this location, Jason (who I've known and visited with for several years now), along with Tanner, Nelson, and Coach are fantastic. These guys are rock solid, gold, and are tremendous assets to this location. Each and every visit has felt like a positive, friendly, professional experience and it is most certainly because of these great professional Golf Galaxy associates. EXCEEEEEEEEPT for today. Today was a complete 180. Today, as soon as I walked into the store with two of my own clubs in my hand, one bald, over tattooed and over stuffed, bearded little guy, approached me asking if I needed anything. As soon as I was going to say I was going to hit golf balls in one of the two open bays on the left (which has always been used to the best of my knowledge for customers to try out new and/or used clubs and possibly swing their own clubs) the insecure, beared, overly stuffed little boy said in a direct, hastily tone, "We can't be the only driving range in town. Are you looking for anything?". When I tried to state that I may be interested in a three wood and/or a used driver, he again stated they can't be the only driving range in town (not sure what he meant considering the store is, in fact, not the only driving range in town. Interesting enough, on this particular day it happened to be raining heavily all day. What a GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY to have more customer flow and GENERATE SALES, than a rainy day. Terrible sales stradegy No. 1. If he and the situation weren't so insulting and ironic, it would be laughable. At this time another sales associate, Nelson, who I have worked with in the store swinging clubs on a couple of occasions, and who is nothing but, nice, personable and professional, recognized me and approached to shake my hand and say hello. At this time, again, for a third time, the rude, tattooed, hairless, sales associate repeated in front of Nelson that their store cannot be the only driving range in town, obviously trying to make it clear that they're store is not open to just come in and hit one's own personal golf clubs. (Despite the fact that the two open bays on the left, the ones that do not have the Track Man monitors, have a big soft leather chair for those waiting to hit balls in these open bays, appearing to present a comfortable atmosphere. You know what: duly noted, but ashame. Before its renovation, this was a great store which always welcomed people to come in and hit their own clubs for a spell. Even in the past month or so, a floor sales associate said to me directly to come in anytime and hit clubs in the open bays that are not used for club fitting. I will certainly consider the guidance of this poor excuse of a sales associate moving forward.) So, to continue, before this rude sales associate could glean information that I may have been interested in looking at some used golf clubs, he made it clear that there would be no casual hitting of my own clubs. At this time Nelson proceeded to walk away and assist other guests and patrons. While I continued to look through the merchandise on the floor, I could hear the rude bald sales associate virtually yell loudly across the store in Nelson's direction but which could easily be heard from anywhere in the store, that "the store is not a public driving range but the point is to sell golf clubs. That's our goal. That's what we're supposed to be doing here." Please know, this entire experience was nothing short of completely rude and unprofessional on this rude sales person's part. Just amazing. I was under the impression and still hoped that one's of this Golf Galaxy's goals was, while first and foremost in business to make a profit, to also overall promote the welfare and game of golf in a broader sense. Like I previously stated, I have been a devoted, frequenting customer of this Golf Galaxy location. This little rude sales associate obviously had a burr under his saddle about people coming in to hit clubs, and was overcompensating for some other deficiency that is going on in his little world; his small hands, small feet, whatever. It is hard to believe that he can last, let alone actually succeed, in the sales industry. One of just a few things is going to happen to this particular location: he will hopefully, eventually be jettisoned back where he belongs hustling in used cars or used mattress sales, or the remaining professional staff at this location will all leave, finding him to be the upbearable and complete jackass that he is, at which time the store itself will eventually fold with him anywhere near the helm. After trading in for a new M4 driver on the last visit about 6 months ago. I decided to return hoping to find a new 200 yard club since I have a gap between my 185 and 215 clubs. Went in and there was a renovation going on. Nobody greeted me so I browsed around for a bit. After 15 minutes. I approached a worker and before I could finish my explanation, he interrupted and told me to go to the very last Bay. (Non trackman ones). I told them there was no one there as I have already been waiting for someone there. He wasn't attentive and went away to help others in his department on the other side of this big box. Went back to the bays and saw 2 young boys hacking away. I took the 2nd bay and waited again. Nobody came so I decided to swing a few of my own clubs that I brought in. Even set up the computer myself and hit about 10 shots per 3 clubs. Still not one employee came by to check in. I walked around hoping to find someone. Nope. Went back to the bay and swung balls for another 30 minutes or so. Still not one employee checking in. Decided to walk around and there was virtually no available employee to assist. All were busy with others. I was pissed because it took me a long drive to get here (SW Austin during commute hours). My total stay was 1.5 hours and I did not even receive one assistance despite my multiple efforts to find one. It appears to be well stocked and tons of options but this customer service went south. I miss the old design and attentive workers who were eager to assist. Not on this visit. read more

Today I went to Golf Galaxy to get my irons re gripped because I just got a new set of irons and the grips that were on there I did not like. (I did not purchase the irons at Golf Galaxy) When I asked to get the clubs regripped after I bought the grips which was over $100 they said I would have to leave my club a there for about 4 days because there so many orders placed already. I was a little confused about this because I had already been there for almost half an hour and saw no one working on regripping clubs. But I didn't mind too much because I understand there were already a lot of orders ahead of me so I couldn't control that, so I just bought my own regripping tools at the store which was about another $30. After that I asked a worker if I could hit on the TrackMan because I just bought new irons so I wanted to get my distances, at first they weren't really sure, so I said I would pay for the hitting bay on TrackMan because I understand that they charge to hit on those bays. He then said actually you can just hit on it, it's a slow night so don't worry about it. I really appreciated that so I started hitting on the TrackMan. After about 5 minutes of hitting, another worker (could have been the manager) that I have not talked to yet asked what I was doing, so I explained. He then said I couldn't do what I was doing and I told him someone gave me permission to. He then said that this is a retail store, you can't just come in here and use us for a range (with attitude). I then didn't really know what to say because I literally offered to pay because I understood that they didn't want people using the store for a range. He eventually said it was fine because it was a slow night and there were no other customers in the store. He still didn't seem very happy about it and had a lot of attitude, and made me feel very uncomfortable/unwelcome. I hit for just 2 more mins because I could sense this dude was frustrated about this so I got my stuff and left. I was pleased when I first got there but then it switched to making me feel very unwelcome. I wish the workers were on the same page. I left very frustrated because I already bought multiple things there and even offered to pay for the bay, which eventually ended up with them acting like I was trying to use the store. read more

I went in earlier today in search of a USGA handbook and when I could not find one on my own, I decided to ask an employee for help. I went up to one of the employees nearby and asked if they had any in the store. He had responded by saying there were not any, but still checked anyway, which I had appreciated. He then confirmed there were none so I thanked him and was on my way. After a few seconds he called me and my boyfriend back to tell us where we may find some at another location, but the whole time he was making eye contacts with my boyfriend and never once looked at me. Please sir, do not assume the man is the golfer; I was the one who had played D1 golf. read more

I wanted to give praise for Michael at Golf Galaxy Arboretum. After 2 frustrating attempts to get the correct matching shaft put on my 5 iron, Michael finally stepped in and just switched mine out for a new one so it would match the set I bought here. Up to that point, I was irritated enough with the lack of attention to detail that I may have never returned, but Michael's excellent customer service made me a fan of this store again. I'd give them zero stars if that were an option. I bought a new m6 driver there. A sales person (eric) said he get a head cover and take the club to the front counter for me. He went to the back room while I looked for some other items. I made my purchase and when I got to the course I saw he had switched the new club I had handed him with a demo club. I was playing with a golf manufacture manufacture rep that said they do this because they can pocket cash for selling the demo. Even if that isn't accurate it ruined my impression of this place. Bad experience with dishonest people. I'll be getting my money back and shopping elsewhere. read more

Very bad experience at Golf Galaxy today. I went in to decide between a new set of Titleist AP1 or AP3 irons. They seemed to be very busy, but I was able to get the attention of a sales guy and get a 7 iron of each club to test. The range/simulator was open so I proceeded to hit. I then encountered another sales guy. He was very condescending showing me how to use the simulator. He then insisted that I vacate to let others use the simulator because "they cannot accommodate people coming in to get range time on their lunch break." There was an open bay next to me and no one waiting. I had hit 4-5 balls. I literally went to the store today to buy one of the two sets I had narrowed down to. The guy vacated immediately after the comment. After hitting a few more balls, I (reluctantly) meandered around the irons section attempting to find help on a new set of irons. Couldn't find anyone so I left angry. I'll find another retailer to buy the ~1.5K set. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. The customer service was the worst I've ever experienced. I would put 0 stars if I could. Not one person approached me to help while I was inside for 30 minutes. All employees stood around putting and bsing but not helping me as I was looking for a new wedge. Will be giving all my business to PGA Superstore from now on. read more

Complete lack of professionalism. No understanding of customer service in ANY capacity. A completely miserable experience that makes you shake your head as to HOW they think they are treating people respectfully. I actually think that they have great customer service and the employees that have helped me have been very nice and knowledgeable. The selection and club repair however is quite another story. I asked for a new grip to be put on my putter and they did such a horrible job it was unusable. The selection is always abysmal and their prices are so incredibly high. If you are looking for a better alternative for clubs I would highly recommend Discount Dan's Golf. They beat any price of Golf Galaxy by over $30 and their service is top of the line. They will ship you the club and it usually gets to me in less than a week. I have been going to Golf Galaxy to demo clubs and ordering them online with Discount Dan's. I really wish that the selection and pricing were better but I am glad that I found an alternate store. read more

Great experience with the manager"Deb". I went in there with a broken driver shaft that they just replaced. The head flew off. So I went in and spoke to her and she automatically did the right thing. This store used to be good. now you have "pros" in there worried about how far they can hit a club in the bays. I recently went in to buy a new driver. I talk to the sales person about the newest clubs. He went over to the bays to hit and store had two bays open, but of course the two bays that were open, the monitors did not work. I hit a few balls in the open bay, but wanted to see my numbers before I dropped 500+ on a new driver. I waited around for about 30 minutes to finally get in and "pro" set me up and then left. Said he would be back in a few. I thought he was going to fit me for this new driver. He came back after I was done, and asked me how it went. I told him I was concerned about the spin rate of the club and the lack of distance compared to my old driver. He proceeded to tell me that the launch monitors had recently been upgraded, and look at my swing, I was probably hitting it about 20-30 yards longer than monitor was showing. And the 4500+ RPM was because of the tape they put on the face to protect the club. I told him I was going to buy a driver that day, but wanted to make sure it was set up for me. He told me it was fine, it would be great for me and wisked me off to the register to pay for the club, Went with me to make sure he got that commission on the sale. The next day I went over to one of the Dick's Sporting Good because they are the same company and the pro in there told me that club was not right for me at all. Luckily, the manager there allowed me to return it for store credit. Reason, I went to Golf Galaxy was because at least they had a few left hand clubs..none of the Dicks or Golf Galaxy's stock many left hand clubs.. Do not wish to drop cash on a club that i have to order online, without trying it out. Service used to be great at this store, but even the guys that used to be so helpful are gone..Time to find a new store to shop for golf needs. read more
