Stopped by this market to grab some fruits and tea bags. It's located on San Gabriel Blvd... but you might miss it since there's no big sign close to the street. The store is fairly clean and has lots of fruit choices. I've never seen kiwi and manila mangos so big, so I had to grab some. They were really good and very sweet!! Someone four years ago had already mentioned this but the customer service is STILL trash. The cashier was rudely staring at us, barely said anything, and even worse, she threw the receipt at us. COVID-19: Social distancing is enforced at this establishment. All of the staff wears a mask. All customers are expected to wear a mask too. Some of the staff also wear gloves. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is open to customers with limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. While I was grabbing my groceries from this establishment last weekend, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They also do not allow pets in their establishment. Parking: They have a pretty big parking lot, but the spaces are a bit small, so be careful. If you are worried about your car getting dinged, I highly recommend parking on the street. Store: The items at this store are organized in a manner that makes sense. The aisles are wide. I had to take a star away because this supermarket is just very dirty. It seems to me like they only clean this place once every two weeks or so. It's kinda gross. I went on a Sunday for their discounted produce. And boy oh boy was the produce area packed with people trying to get their hands on some food. I took a star away because I was shoved out of the way by some Asian lady, and when I complained about it to the security guard and manager, they didn't do anything about it. Want to give this budget market the credit they deserve: this is not the cleanest or neatest market like 99 Ranch, Ralph's or Pavilions, but nor are their prices. I found many products selling at lower prices here than other markets, especially their produces. There are always items on sale. The packaged greens are my favorites - bok-choy, green onion, Napa cabbage, are often on sale here. Avocado is another one that you can find on sale frequently here. These days, VALUE is huge and this market certainly caters to budge-conscious buyers. Unfortunately, they didn't carry this peanut brand. Bummer! This isn't our go-to supermarket. It's like a last resort kinda thing just to see if they carry the item. Store is clean and organized though. I can't say the same for some of the other supermarkets in the San Gabriel Valley area. Aisles are a tad tight though, but hey, as long as you can push the shopping cart through the lanes, you should be fine. On a Saturday morning in May, no lines at 9:30am and must wear a mask. I went to buy frozen maw fish and look for snacks. Not very crowded at all. In the frozen area next to veggies, new Korean frozen fried pork chops and new Chinese desserts on sticks. They also shipment of rice. I've been coming here every 2 weeks or so to get groceries for my parents since quarantine started in March. The market is decent sized but sometimes feels cramped because the shelves/aisles are so narrow. I've found that their produce is pretty fresh but their fruit selection is so-so. Meat selection is also ok. Things are reasonably priced here. I had a whole cart of groceries enough for 2 families for 2 weeks and the total was only around $100. Also, I've always seen hand sanitizer and masks in stock. Tip: Definitely come early in the morning. If you come after 10am on the weekends it tends to be more crowded and you'll most likely have to wait in line outside. read more

The floors were filthy! Someone was actually sweeping the trash around while we were walking around in the store. Hong Kong Supermarket! My mom used to always shop at this market back in the day, before they changed name. The prices here are crazy high compared to most asian markets in the area. 168 has way better prices and deals. Large produce and seafood/meat section. Aisles are tight and long. This lady was extremely RUDE! I asked her a simple question if she knew how much an item was. She completely ignored me. I assumed she didn't hear me so I attempted to ask a couple more times. Again, she ignored me. Please note I asked her nicely. The customer in front of me looked at her confused as to why she was being rude. The lady then proceeded to roll her eyes and said rudely, "move over here!". I asked the lady at the next registered and she kindly gave me the price. My lady cashier then said in Chinese "how does she not know the price and had to be annoying by asking me!". First off, I understand Chinese and definitely do not appreciate her talking smack assuming I didn't understand Chinese. Secondly, there was no price otherwise I wouldn't have asked! I told my cashier lady that she was being mean and rude. She turned to me and accused ME of being rude. I don't understand how asking a question was being rude. She then continued verbally assaulting me by calling me rude and announced loudly to other customers saying I was rude. I told her to please bring up the footages and asked her to stop talking to me. She continued verbally assaulting me up until I walked away. I had to endure all her verbal insults because I didn't want to walk away and leave my groceries after spending an hour shopping. In addition, her supervisor just laughed didn't even do anything. The supervisor just told her in Chinese to let it go but obviously the lady cashier was too stubborn to stop verbally assaulting me. Beware of the meat that you buy at this location, or anything that needs to be weigh. Bought beef at this supermarket. Weight at 1.66 lbs. But weighing it at home is actually 1.16lbs. This supermarket 's seafood section is very dirty and the health department should come in to inspect it. The metal tongue for customers to pick the fish are terribly rusted. I told the workers but they don't care. Other than the live fish or crab, everything else are stale and non edible. The fruit section has similar problem as they kept molded produce on the shelves. As another reviewer had noted the produce section is slightly more widely laid out than the middle aisles so you have to carefully pass in a staggered manner. I really like how cheap vegetables were but you have to double check not just visually but if possible palpate your produce for soft spots. I bought a bag of oyster mushrooms that had to be cooked right away to avoid further deterioration but it was cheap and still tasted good, just don't buy produce here if you want to keep it around in your fridge a long time. This place use to be Hong Kong Supermarket. Now it's called Good Fortune. Lol. The plaza looks nice with red string LED lights wrapped around the trees. However this market is not as well stocked compared to the other competitors. They have a nice frozen food selection though. Yes, majority Chinese staple food items. They have some frozen seafoods, frozen dinners, some ice cream... etc. The meat department isn't bad either. Fresh fish, crab, shrimp, chicken, beef, and pork. The meat seems fresh and colorful, and the prices are average. Vegetable department is okay too. Some fruits doesn't seem as fresh. I think some old items needs to be thrown away to make look more aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. But maybe the workers haven't come around that area yet to make their daily stock checks. This is a clean supermarket with more than enough of the Asian necessities. They have an impressive daily offering of packaged fresh fish and seafood, I noticed. I thought that this supermarket is exceptionally clean and homely for an Asian supermarket in particular. Prices are cheaper than the 99 Ranch chain. It's not a huge market but it's good everything I normally need. For great deals on quality meat and fruit, I go to Sprouts. But for everything "Asian", I'm happy to shop here. read more

Now, it has been replaced by this supermarket, which I have nothing against. Looking at the name, it seems like they want to impose some "good luck" on their customers. If you're looking for QUALITY food, give this place a go. I've inspected every aisle and can confirm that the food here is FRESH. I'm talking about the live produce (fruits, vegetables, and meat). Watch out for the prices though, since they're higher than most supermarkets. Even though there aren't many opened cash registers, you don't have to wait long. The cashiers are there to do their job, so you can't expect much interaction from them, except a few words and your receipt. I guess that's typical of most Asian supermarkets. The only complaint I really have is their floors, which are REALLY dirty. read more

The date of this review is 04/30/2016. Driving on San Gabriel Blvd. south, the sign for the Goof Fortune Supermarket drew our attention. My wife and I decided to stop and go inside. On this visit we bought sauces (soy, oyster, ponzu, and teriyaki), instant noodles, fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, and Asian candies and cookies. Their prices are cheaper than many of the Asian markets in the same area. The store is very clean, well stocked, and organized. However some of the aisles are narrower than other Asian markets we frequent. We wanted to purchase fresh fish and have it cleaned and fried. We were informed that at this time they only scale and clean fish. The employee informed us that in a few weeks they will be adding the equipment to fry the fish. We passed up on purchasing the fish today! The parking lot is shared by other establishments located in this shopping center, so finding a slot could be tricky. We parked on the street after circling the parking lot once with no available spot. The employees and cashier were cordial and very helpful. Our cashier fitted foam sleeves over glass bottles to keep them from breaking. Very nice and courteous observation. read more
