Breakfast. I highly recommend the albondigas and mole. Only problem with that is they are specials only. Tried the menudo or in my case posole. Flavorless. I love the taste of menudo but don't like the meat. Cooking hint-cook the meat in the pot with a cheese cloth this will give the desired flavor to the posole. Good Luck Cafe provided one of the best breakfasts out I've had in a long time. The ingredients taste fresh and the service is friendly and fast. Our food was on the table less than 10 minutes after ordering due to several cooks on the line cranking out the food. We tried the menudo and it was flavorful, well cooked, served hot, and had a good balance of hominy and tripe. The rest of the food: pancakes, eggs, machaca a la Mexicana, rice and beans, and oatmeal was just as good. Lots of breakfast choices for varied tastes. If you get there after 9:30 on a Saturday, you may have to wait for a table-it's worth the wait. So I've been to this place twice. Once last year during December, and yesterday. This place is clean, everyone is friendly, and the food is really good. Only had a double bacon and fries. The burger was tender and juicy, not too thick but not flat either, that perfect in between. Cooked to be good enough for a medium rare fan, and that's not easy. Fries were decent enough, thick and not ultra crispy. Bacon on the burger was sublime. read more

The BF and I went to Good Luck Cafe this morning after driving all night long. The food was good, but it wasn't as good as the reviews make it seem. The restaurant is divey, but very clean. Our waitress was cleaning while she wasn't serving and she even cleaned their clock on the wall....that's pretty thorough. The waitress spoke to us in Spanish off the bat, and luckily, I can speak mediocre conversational Spanish, so we got through the meal successfully....not sure if this is typical or not, but I kind of liked it. I had the huevos rancheros at the waitress's suggestion and I liked it alright. The salsa was GREAT! Very spicy. And the eggs were perfectly cooked....but I didn't like that they used refried beans instead of whole beans and that they were on the side and not part of the stack. The hashbrowns were not crispy or flavorful...nothing special. The BF got pancakes and said they were pretty typical pancakes. The language barrier with our waitress ended up in wrong order after wrong order which was frusterating, but even after we got the mostly right order (we gave up) the burger was okay, not even good, and everything else wasn't even okay. The burgers were more like meet pancakes that were crumbling apart so it was just a huge mess, and they didn't really have any seasoning. The fries were super limp, and just tasted like barely cooked potato out of the microwave; soft and flavorless. I asked for a water no ice and got hot water that tasted nasty. Anyway, the young lady was never attentive and her attention to detail was poor. She messed up our order. We've frequent the Good Luck for over 20 years and it now seems they've lost they're ability to serve good HOT food with a smile. I say this hesitantly but the last few times... Poor service n the food never is hot anymore! When the customer points out to staff of their deficiencies, they seem to say the right things... but the same outcome! We came today to have an early lunch. We were greeted after about 5 minutes. Doesn't matter what we ordered, but we ordered a chicken nugget basket for my 17 month old son. My plate came out first, 10 minutes later, my husbands plate came, and another 10 after my sons basket came. we cut the chicken open to cool them off and they were still very pink in the middle. We alerted the waitress and the "manager" and we didn't get any sort of apology he simply says, well chicken takes a while to make. Never complained about how 3 nuggets could take over 20 minutes and still raw. The waitress takes the food to the cooks for them to finger f#$& the nuggets. Then she brought the basket with the fries asking if we wanted to have them for my baby while they fixed the chicken. We take the basket, its drenched in oil and theyre still raw inside. I then went back to the manager again he doesn't even look at me, takes the basket out of my hands begins to walk away, then says what do you want? To which I replied, well acknowledging me would be nice. He says they're fries, they're going to be greasy. Then walks away from me. I was so angry we didn't even stay. I've been there and loved it, but after being treated so badly I will never go back. Raw chicken is very serious and had my son been a bit older and just grabbed the nuggets to eat, I guarantee he would have gotten sick read more
