I'll start with a qualifying statement -- I'm from Brooklyn. I've grown up in pizzerias since the age of 12 and my family has been in the pizza game for decades. Good Pie is legit from NY standards. The Upside grandma is an homage to L&B Spumoni Gardens in Brooklyn, NY however it's not as good as the real thing. This is partly because the original requires double-baking to ensure the first layer of sauce is baked into the crust before adding the cheese and then 2nd sauce layer on top. Maybe the pies I ordered were off but it didn't look like they followed the multi-step approach that L&B perfected. Otherwise it's still a great pizza for Las Vegas standards. The regular grandma is decent too but I'd give the upside grandma the edge. Lastly, $34 for a half sheet is highway robbery. Even the original pie from Brooklyn isn't that expensive. If the prices were more reasonable, it would be a 5-star rating read more

Are you ready to venture off the Las Vegas strip? What if I tell you that the best pizza in Las Vegas (and maybe, just maybe the country) is only a few miles off the strip in Downtown Las Vegas? Walking into the unassuming strip mall next to Gold & Silver Pawn Shop, made famous by TV show Pawn Stars, and into Good Pie, I had my doubts. But then I met Vincent Rotolo (Vinnie to his friends -- and everyone is his friend) and I was blown away by his passion for pizza.   I watched as Vinnie made the "Good Good" - cheese on the bottom, sauce on top. Then more fresh mozzarella, flown in from Brooklyn. There are 4 different cheeses on every pie. When he was little, his dad used to take artichokes and stuff them with sausage, so with a nod to his father, he tops the Good Good with artichoke and sausage. Vinnie likes to stick with two toppings and refuses to put anything on a pizza that the grandmothers wouldn't have used. Looking down his kitchen is a wall of photos of grandmothers, keeping an eye on him and his pizza.   In addition to the Grandma style, Good Pie also offers Detroit and Brooklyn style pizzas, along with gluten-free and vegan options.    My favorite? The "That's Dat Good $hit" Detroit Style - mozzarella, fresh mozzarella, pecorino, wild mushrooms, caramelized onions, finished with Urbani porcini mushroom and truffle thrills, whipped ricotta cheese, shaved grana padano, fresh parsley & Urbani organic truffle oil. I'm a sucker for mushrooms and truffle, and the Detroit Style of pizza was new for me - the crust is golden crispy on the bottom and soft and fluffy inside. read more

What a great experience! We had a group of about 20 guys who were dining pre-theater (before seeing "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" across the street at Majestic Repertory Theater. Anyway, I called in advance, and while Good Pie doesn't do reservations, per se, the manager told me she'd work to accommodate us. And they did! They set up a table -- or several tables -- where we all fit well. Our waitress was super sweet. Drinks were great, and the pizza was fabulous! My partners and I ordered the Brooklyn-style with sausage and pepperoni. It was excellent -- reminded me of some of the best pizza I've had in NYC. Crispy, but flavorful crust, just the right amount of sauce, great cheese, spicy sausage, and pepperoni that was appropriately crispy and delicious. Everyone raved about both the food and the service. We even had enough time to grab some ice cream across the street before the show. What a great addition to the Arts District! read more

If they could mark this as a -1000 stars I would , I just had the worst experience of my life trying to make a reservation at good pie for dinner on Sunday, 1-7-24. The female who answered the phone seemed at firstI explained to her that I need a reservation for 6 PM for Sunday, January 7 that I had family into town that I had previously dined multiple times at this establishment and each time spending a minimum of $150 without tip. phenomenal and the service is impeccable. It's very hard to keep children. Very quiet and calm waiting for 45 minutes for food no matter where you're at. It was evident with the conversation, this would be a very horrific experience. Normally I do not leave bad reviews unless something horrific has happened, and in this instance it has. So to start the female informed me they don't do reservations, that they do buyouts for parties of 10 or more. I explained that my family members had never been there and that we're going to take them. They have just got into town& were excited to go Sunday, 1-7-24, that I would have a party of 6. She explained that they don't do reservations, but have something that's called their buyout. Basically it is reserving a table for 10 or more guests, that has to be each customer has to spend $30 per person. You also have to reserve the table with a credit card not on a holiday, not during peak season, but anytime you do a buyout. That does not mean buy out the entire restaurant that means to buy out a table! I couldn't believe what I was feeling or experiencing , since I do reside in the entertainment capital of the world and there's more than 250,000 restaurants to choose from. This seems to be the only restaurant that doesn't honor our hospitality for customers like 85% of successful establishments do. She went on to say there was a $30 charge per person and a 25% gratuity for six people in order for me to do a buyout table for a party of 6. At this point, the conversation took a turn for the worse for business owner of this establishment. I was informed that she couldn't make a reservation that the waiting is approximately zero minutes to 45 minutes. I explained the reason why I wanted a reservation is because I have2 kids with ADHD, as they don't do well with waiting. I didn't want the other customers to have their behavior affect their dining experience also thinking about my family at the same point. It's extremely hard to wait at a restaurant to get a table especially if you're waiting up to 45 minutes with starving kids which doesn't makes very easy to keep calm and quiet. I had explained my situation and the only thing that she said, " I could bend the rules, and do a buyout. You would have to spend exactly $30 per person. You have to reserve the table on a credit card and it can't be under $30 per person and there has to be a 25% gratuity as a minimum. I'm sorry but that's not necessarily a big deal considering we were going to order 2-3 Triple pep pizzas, Caesar salad, 2 orders of garlic knots, and possibly another pizza or 2, with multiple alcohol & regular drinks, Caesar salad, garlic, knots, multiple desserts. The bill would easily total between $300-$600. but telling me for 6 people that I have to pay $30 per person. That's ridiculous that I have to spend that much per person in my opinion, the owner of the establishment should fire this employee because the only reason why I step foot into ghetto town down there was to go to that restaurant to eat and I ate multiple times never had a problem had great customer service, great food, great music, no alcoholic drinks, but we did drink iced tea and ice water but still had a phenomenal. time. Each time that we came in, we sat in the same waitresses section every time we went in. She made our dining experience, memorable and that's why we kept coming back. Unfortunately, I hate to say that I will not be returning to your establishment. For the lack of professionalism that I experienced while being on an 6 minute telephone conversation. At this point the female who claimed to be the manager said rudely, "Well your family sounds quite lovely". at this point I had had all the disrespect I was going to take from someone who sounded like she was maybe 20 something. We just moved downtown, right around the corner form Good Pie. We tried it last week and it was amazing. We went back today and we thought there was a mistake on our pizza... but, it turned out that we had made the mistake! We were so embarrassed!! But the crew at Good Pie not only made us another pizza and insisted we take it free of charge, they were beyond friendly and awesome! We hung out and talked to the owner for a bit and he seemed like an old friend back in NYC. He said he wanted to create a neighborhood pizza joint... and he has. With some of the best pizza I have ever had anywhere... and we are from NYC too and are picky! I highly recommend the "That's dat good $hit" pizza... it will knock your socks off! Holy moly! I know the owner Vincent, not only is he a genuinely kind and caring person but his pursuit of pizza perfection reaches an almost psychotic level and shows in every pie coming out of this small store front. The garlic knots are to die for! You can taste the sweetness of the roasted garlic in them. The other item I had was the Good White. The whipped ricotta just made the slice. It wasn't as good as the other place I found but it is still very good and authentic! read more
