I may have missed this--but I do think it might be a good idea to have menus posted outside. I tried a Dirty Chai, and probably will never be getting it again. The coffee itself is great, but I am not the biggest fan of the chai. It was a little more watered down than I was expecting. Easily my favorite coffee shop in the South Bay. I've tried the drip coffee, cappuccino, chai latte, and espresso from on various occasions. All of the drinks are skillfully prepared by baristas that really care about their finished product. They even put latte art on our kid's got chocolate. Second time here. The coffee is always good. They are usually busy and the service is still quick. Hubby gets a vanilla on ice coffee with regular milk. I get a vanilla decaf with almond milk. There's no denying that the South Bay (Manhattan Beach) has a many coffee shops to choose from...but very few deliver the way Goodboybob does! There's a reason why I'm a 3x a day regular, besides the incredible coffee, charming vibe, & my wife's favorite GF treats, (though it be everyone's reason to avoid the corporate chains). I want to give enormous credit to the hardworking and caring staff that makes THIS SHOP so special. Thank you for putting up with the good, bad, and ugly...thank you for handling every weekend morning line like pros (especially when people box in the shop like the standing area at a concert), thank you for being unphased by pushy/rude orders (happens too often, you know who you are...throw down a 25% tip. It won't kill you trust me), or just listening to someone's day and treating everyone with stellar customer service. What you guys do ain't easy so thank you for being our community's "place to slow time down" and chill. 10/10 every day of the week! I go to this place a lot because the coffee is incredible, with the service just a great. But, on my daughter's birthday (at the risk of sounding too much like the Godfather), what she really wanted was pancakes and whipped cream. We took her to a restaurant that we love but recently stopped serving whipped cream apparently (who does that?). Anyway, that little 9 year old was so sad, but handling it so well. I decided to do something about it and ran over to Goodboybob's - who also apparently does not have whipped cream :) - but when I explained the situation, they jumped into action and figured out that they had the ingredients and tools to make it, and made it. My loyalty to this place just shot through the roof. They were so kind and caring and did it without making me feel bad for putting them out or anything - just kind/generous people. I was on a trip to SoCal and I stopped to have breakfast in manhattan beach and I noticed a this coffee shop across the street. I decided to go check it out. The staff was very friendly and welcoming I told the cashier it was my first time there and that i didn't know what I wanted and he gave me a couple of suggestions and was super patient with me (unlike the locals that were waiting in line, I know i didn't take more than 5 mins trying to decide and I even let 2 ppl go ahead of me because the cashier new them on a first name basis and literally asked them if the wanted the usual). The place is super small but welcoming, I saw more people there than at Starbucks that was down the block. The pastries look delicious but unfortunately i didn't buy any since I was waiting to eat breakfast across the street. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of my drink but it was sooooooo delicious!!!!! I would definitely recommend trying this place. I live right around the corner from Goodboybob's and I want to like this place so badly, but the service is wildly inconsistent. I'm often the only person in there and two vanilla lattes take over 15 minutes to make. Coincidentally the slow service always happens with the same employee - a girl with brunette hair and glasses who's got such an attitude. Like most hipster coffee shops, the drinks aren't cheap - $7 for a latte with almond milk - but I'd be okay paying that if the staff was friendlier and the service wasn't molasses. read more
