I've been wanting to try goodboybob for awhile and glad to come across it in Manhattan Beach. This location is a small space with no indoor seating, a few seats outside, but good for picking up to take to the beach. The vanilla oat milk latte was great, nicely sweetened and creamy. Barista helpful with chapati options, tried Rolex which was simple with eggs and veggies and perfect for a not too heavy breakfast and veggies were cooked well with just the right crunch! They also had some unique pastries, I loved the chocolate chip roca cookie which was thin and crisp on the edges with large chunks of roca and chocolate. read more

Though super worth it as they make great craft coffees and teas. Just a little MB gem that is named after a good boy dog (Bob). My boyfriend and I were looking for something quick to grab before our parking meter expired and accidentally stumbled upon this place when I navigated us to the ocean view cafe across the street (more of a sit down place). We ordered "the six " chapati roll with medium sauce and it was ready in about 5 minutes. The flavors and textures were mind blowing! The subtle sweetness from the maple complimented the bacon and sausage. The sauce seemed home made and tied everything together really nicely. Today (11-01-2021) thru Wednesday (11-03-2021) is their soft opening. They will be closed of Thursday & Friday. From Saturday onward, they will be fully operating. We came to support this budding new business in Manhattan Beach. We got an Americano and a Vanilla Latte. Both were good, but were only warm. I enjoy my coffee hotter than what was served. They are training, so we're were okay with it. We also tried one of each of the Chapatis. A chapati is an Indian Flat Bread similar to a Whole Wheat Tortilla. They use a chapati to wrap breakfast goodies. The Six is full of good stuff like bacon, sausage, eggs, cheese, and potato. If you want something without meat, the Wisco Disco would be ideal since it has potato, eggs, and cheese in it. I like how the wrap is warmed on the grill. They serve a Jalapeno Sauce with it. We were looking for the Carrot Habanero we saw on a web page, but they only were offering the Jalapeno today. They offer quite a nice variety of pastries, too! I want to try a Croissant and a Cookie! Next time! This coffee shop is relatively small. Their other 2 locations have outdoor patios and a larger interior space. We ate our food right outside of Inaba (two doors down). I went this past weekend to Manhattan and had been here before a while ago. I ordered an iced vanilla matcha this time and it was okay. It didn't have vanilla but the matcha was okay. What I didn't particularly like was the service. I was told cash wasn't acceptable, so I paid with card. Once my order was done I told the workers thank you and no one responded to me. I have had this cafe on my list for some time and was excited to try the coffee. It was not as I expected . Pros: Great pastry options, cute tables right outside the door and fast service. Cons: there is barely any room to stand inside while paying/ordering and the coffee is very strong. It doesn't have the best flavor (for me). Pricey, but tasty! The burritos were my favorite part of this experience. Get one! They're delicious and filling. I ordered a chai latte and thought it was too sweet rather than "spicy" for my liking. Not terrible just not my preference. The pastries are on the sweet side, too. The choco chip cookie will hit the spot for ya. I also tried the cardamom bun and I'd definitely prefer it over a cinnamon bun. It has a light and airy-ness to it and the cardamom is subtle and doesn't overpower your bite. There are parking lots in the area otherwise you're limited to the streets. This can be a busy area so prepare to walk if you can't find parking in front of the shop. read more

Eli and Jeff were in the coffee house today and took a great amount of time and care helping me build my latte. I got an almond vanilla latte. Their sweeteners and almond milk are homemade! Nothing better than a nutty homemade almond milk! I was treated to a pastry and picked the chocolate swirl bread and they warmed it up. A wonderful accompaniment to my drink. 10/10 will come back. Goodboybob has appeared on a lot of 'best coffee in LA' lists, so I thought I'd give it a try while I was in town. I ordered a hot vanilla latte with almond milk and a cardamom bun to share with my dad as we took a walk along Manhattan Beach. I didn't love my drink- the espresso had a citrusy/acidic taste that I wasn't a fan of. However, the service was super friendly and I enjoyed the pastry. It's also dog-friendly, if that's a plus for you! I wouldn't hurry back to Goodboybob, but I get why it's a popular spot. read more

Sit on the sidewalk with too few tables waiting for a chance to order. The line is long. The price s are high. We got three items, two of which were good, but the third, a cinnamon bun, was very dry. From an esthetic standpoint, this is one of the cutest cafes in the MB area. The gentleman at the register was delightful. The baristas were preoccupied with their own conversation. Unfortunately, the latte I ordered left much to be desired. My first sip reminded me of when you bite into a moldy piece of fruit. There was just an off taste that's hard to describe, but would never expect from a roaster. My husband was equally disappointed and we ordered two completely different drinks. On a more positive note, the blackberry croissant was delicious and I would come back to try another one of their beautiful, in-house-made pastries. I would just steer clear of the espresso. Awesome coffee and service. Baristas are definitely experienced there and make great coffee. Beans are rooted locally, so you get it super fresh. Almost bought a bag of their home blend because my latte was delicious. I tried their vanilla latte and I don't know if it was just their beans or their vanilla, or both, but it had great flavor. Purporting "the finest Coffee, Food and Wine served in the least pretentious way" one might assume goodboybob has found a way to mitigate high prices and hire Baristas that work in customer service rather than condescension, but unfortunately the new Manhattan Beach outpost accomplishes neither. Known for unique Beans roasted by goodboybob, everything from Mexico to South America and Africa available brewed or whole Bean by the bag on New Year's Eve, it was in monotone with eye-rolls that unmarked Pastries were described before bagging, nealy $30 exchanged for four plus an admittedly complex Cup of Coffee before leaving. Apparently a scratch Bakery, though in the case of this seatless location Pastries are likely brought in from Santa Monica or Culver City, first tastes came from a poorly-laminated Almond Berry Croissant, its $6 tab in no way supported by technique or ingredients while the $5.50 Cardamom Twist was overworked to the point of tough and not nearly so fragrant as those in Scandinavia. Faring better with homestyle Goods, the Cookie soft at its center with a crisp rim and plenty of good Chocolate, those who can overlook goodboybob's lousy service and exorbitant cost may want to stop by for a $6.00 Cinnamon Roll that offers a bubbly open crumb and plenty of Cinnamon-Brown Sugar to balance the tangy Frosting. read more

I'm a sucker for citrusy espresso drinks. Yes, it sounds weird but it's good. The version here, the Espresso Tonic is made with double shot of espresso, Fever Tree tonic for a bit of fizz and yuzu syrup for that citrus kick. I've had it with OJ, with grapefruit juice, and I gotta say, yuzu syrup works amazing. Also tried a savory pastry with their Fresno chili hot sauce. Pastry was good but that hot sauce is the star. Love the smell of fresh coffee grounds when you walk into an establishment. Makes me think of my favorite actor, Al Cappuccino. I ordered a drip coffee (cream no sugar). It was smooth and delicious, perfect for So-Cal's version of a chilly morning. They have some nice-looking pastries right at the counter that will call out to you. Did any call out to me? I really wanted to like this place. My wife and I frequent coffee shops when we are on vacation. We stopped into GoodboyBob and the place is very clean and has a beautiful decor. The baristas were friendly and they have nice selection pastries. I really enjoyed the Blackberry croissant. Unfortunately, I have take a few stars off for the coffee. My wife and I had two totally different lattes and they both tasted terrible. Our guess is the Espresso machine isn't getting cleaned on a regular basis. (My wife is a barista so she would know). The flavor was very acidic and ruined the drink completely. I believe if they address this issue, they could be the best coffee in Manhattan Beach. For now, I can only give them two stars with hopes they improve their coffee. Metered Parking close by in the morning and the shop is easy to get to. read more

Was told upper management doesn't "allow" customers to pay extra to order cold foam on any other drinks. I'm allergic to sweet potato and requested to have the cold foam cream added to the Apple drink. The barista said they "could not" and "do not make the rules" - whoever made this rule needs to reevaluate their business acumen. The Apple drink is $6.75. The sweet potato is $7.5 - the cold foam cream is kept in a separate canister and can easily be added to any iced drink. Please consider allowing customers to pay the $1 to add foam to other drinks which means you as a business earn an extra .25 for nothing... especially considering SOME PEOPLE HAVE ALLERGIES. Sadly I will not be coming back to this location due to upper managements dumb rules. Good luck. read more

I may have missed this--but I do think it might be a good idea to have menus posted outside.
