Couldn't wait to have dinner here with friends. The owner greats you at the door is very nice. The service was good with exception of young woman server I guess she would rather be out with friends on a Saturday night. The appetizers were very good. Our food was too spicy even though I asked for not so spicy. Also requested tuna rare, waiter said almost swimming and I said yes but it was over cooked. The music was too loud you couldn't hear anyone speaking at the table even the couple at the other table complained about it. If you are just wanting to hang out and not meet up with friends and have a nice dinner out I guess you can try it. read more

Used to be a regular at this place. They had great food and a nice bar. My wife and I went to the city to see a matinee play. We decided to stop at GF for dinner. It was 5:30 and the bar was filled with drunk and obnoxious, childish people. We took a table for two, but the a--hole childish drunks kept turning the stereo up. Came here for lunch the other day and everything was great! I am also having. A party here in a couple weeks and know that we will be taken care of. I would highly recommend coming here for lunch, dinner, or hosting you're next event. Not that we had any trouble at lunch but I would assume when it's busy the parking situation is probably a little difficult. Italian food is misunderstood. The average person may assume that linguini with red sauce is considered "traditional," but that's a meal that you enjoy at home. The restaurant experience should be unique, when it comes to going out to dinner for Italian food it's important to not get stuck in choosing something simple. The menu designed by Goodfellas gives the average person the ability to easily choose unique plates that may not instinctively seem like traditional Italian plates, such as sauteed calamari, goat cheese salad but also and all sorts of traditionally "going out" Italian staples like Picatta and Scampi. I am not trying to sound like a snob, but it's great to see an Italian restaurant that doesnt just try to get by by serving marinara sauce with linguini or anything parmesan-ed. The food is a little overpriced, with entrees priced over $24. The ambiance is very comfortable, the resturant is decorated in a very upscale manor. The best part of the service is that each server also has their own cocktail server and food runner, which helps to expedite all requests. We ordered the Insalata di Cabra (goat cheese crusted with toasted almonds over mxed green salad), Chicken Picatta, & Shrimp Scampi Oreganata. For dessert we ordered a lemon sorbet (In the LEMON!) and a Creme brulee, the creme brulee was a little on the burned side, but never the less, tasty Overall the experience was great and i would recommend this place to just about anyone who wants to taste Italian food, that isn't from Olive Garden. read more

I came here because I know one of the bartenders--Monika, who used to be at Dinallo's. It's very comfortable and the people are very accommodating. I went early on a Friday and it was quiet. Naturally, I had to try their mussels appetizer--they were fabulous! They were the New Zealand mussels, so at least I got my fill pretty quickly. They leave them in the 1/2 shell, which means you either have to use the fork or create your own bi-valve. I look forward to going back sometime again when Monika's working. My only complaint is that it was a little hard for me to find. Everyone says it's in Garfield, but it looked more like Saddle Brook to me. Once I figured out how to get home, I realized it will be easy for me to go there again. read more

The carrot cake was the best two people said they ever had. The key lime pie ... Same. The Exotic Bomba, to die for; white chocolate with flavorful sorbets. Wow. Again, be prepared that is not a place to turn the table quickly. It will take a while. The person on the phone asked if it was to celebrate anything and he told them it was my 40th birthday Tuesday and his birthday on Saturday. When we arrived there was no one to greet us upon walking in and waited. About 5 mins past by before a worker noticed us and grabbed 2 menus. Not even asking for our names or checking how many in our party he just assumed. My boyfriend said we had a reservation for 7. Did not check the book at all (really no need to for the restaurant was half empty) when we got seated we were given 3 choices of tables on top of other people. We waited and promptly given water the. Waited waited and waited for the server. At 7:18 finally one jumped in front of us all out of breath no hello welcome, or greeting at all. I asked if there were specials and was told no. Ordered and waited. During this time a regular game in and got sat at a 6 top away from other people and they were gushing all over him. Told him specials and brought him bread. Our bread came out 2 mins before our meals at 7:25 (quick from when we ordered ). Food was amazing. After we finished we waited again. And again and again. While the server was with his regular. At 8:15 we were given the check. No asking if we wanted desert or anything!!! It was supposed to be a nice evening out however I won't be back. Came here with another couple with 2 gifts cards. Our bill was still ALOT even after. The food is good though, just over priced. I had chicken dishes that were yummy, though no wow factor. The other couple had the specials - lobster ravioli and pasta and sausage dish. They really enjoyed them. For apps we had fried mozzarella and zucchini. For example at tonight's dinner, Carlos our waiter overheard us discussing that we were there celebrating someone's birthday. A wonderful meal, in an old world restaurant. We started off with a bottle on wine. The bread was soooo good. It came with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and shaved parm cheese in it. It was the best side I ever tasted on bread. We shared a hot antipasta. It was excellent. My husband had a veal dish which was delectable. I had seared scallops on top of broccoli rabe. The best I have ever had. And I am picky about broccoli rabe. We finished up (we were so full) with expresso. Also excellent. I would tell all my friends to go there. 5 stars hands down! All the seafood is cooked to perfection, a hard to come by commodity. Most restaurants overcook shellfish to a rubbery consistency but everything from the grilled calamari to mussels to clams are always on point! All the other menu items are always delicious. Last time I ordered the chicken Milanese, it was simple but well seasoned and when you heat up the leftovers the arugula and mozzarella melt down and give the dish a whole new flavor texture! This is my go to place anytime I'm at my North Jersey office. The food is always great and they offer very creative specials. I order something different every time and its outstanding. Their red sauce is excellent. Love the fried shoestring zucchini appetizer. As for the reviews saying the service is lacking, please remember this is authentic North Jersey Italian. Good food but poor service! Can't get the order right. We ordered food for pick up specifically asking no onion or sausage in my pasta dish since I'm vegetarian. After coming home and tasting the dish I discovered there IS sausage as well as onion!!! I've been vegetarian for 10 years and it's just disgusting that there was some meat in my food!!! So we called them back and had to drive back. But second attempt failed as well, since they forgot to put ricotta cheese! I'm very specific with my food. One night I decided to get two Canollis to go so I dropped by and they charged me $8 plus tax for one I remembered from before that it was $7 so when I asked to see a dessert menu they refused to show it to me and I overheated them saying don't tell them how much it is unless they ask.
