Wow, unbelievably fresh food. The food here is absolutely refreshing especially when walking down the beach. The food here is immaculate, it is surrounded by other small clothing shops on a one way street. The atmosphere is fresh and the menu if expansive. The prices are high but the quality is higher. The view of the ocean outside is great. The food I received was a green salad with fresh organic veggies, tuna, sprouts, spinach, tomatoes and a lemon ginger sauce to soothe the belly. The food was filling and as it wasn't the most expensive quality tuna, it was quite good. It was one of the best salads I ever consumed. The wait was long. That was the only issue I had. The food was good, they had a lot of options for a variety of dietary restrictions. We were able to easily accommodate vegetarian, gluten free, & picky kiddos. However, the service is so slow. Stopped by for a quick breakfast, not too crowded and I stayed outside. They have heaters to keep you warm when it's cold and I was able to bring my puppies with me in their baggie. This place was so yummy! I I got the Thai salad and loved it! The fermented carrots in it were so unique and added a lot of flavor to the salad. The dressing and sprouts in the salad were super great too. I also got a matcha tea protein latte which was super refreshing. The taste was interesting, but definitely grew on me the more I drank it. The service was quick and our server was very sweet. We had to wait 20 minutes for a table at 3ish on a Saturday, but it was well worth it. read more

Service needs to learn to appreciate paying and tipping customers. Went to Goodonya for the first time this morning. We wanted to have breakfast on Fourth of July and sit down and enjoy a meal so have never been there before I went up to what I thought was where we order I ordered two meals two coffees and even tipped 25% because it was the fourth and I was being generous . We then sat down outside and was approached by a waitress saying we had to move. I told her we just ordered and are paying customers. She said we still had to move because we ordered it in the to go area by accident. I told her to switch it for to stay and was very respectful. She proceeded to again say we had to leave and sit behind the restaurant, even though there were plenty of tables open, and it was not remotely crowded. We then had to speak to another waitress who again gave us the same problem. Finally, the manager came out and reluctantly gave us a seat and made it seem like we were asking for something crazy when all we did was buy food and sit down at an empty restaurant and tipped them 25%. If it was not such a vegan gluten-free California restaurant this place would be out of business. read more

Love this place!! Discovered Goodonya on Yelp and thought to myself, finally somewhere else to go besides Nectarine Grove! I love their story and mission, and that they serve almost everything organic as well as having many gluten free options. In the last month that we discovered this place we've already gone three times. The service has been amazing every time. Hilary specifically was so sweet and patient with all our questions! The food is so healthy and tastes amazing. The Greek bowl and Thai salad are very yummy. Very authentic and homemade style. The kombucha on tap is super refreshing. They have some unique things on their menu too. Also LOVE their desserts! The brownie bowl is to die for. They also just opened a little market next to the restaurant selling some of their products. Overall highly recommend this place! It's also right next to a classic car lot which my husband and his friends do not hesitate to check out every time we've gone here. I placed my order 10 mins after arriving. 20 mins went by and then the sever came back to ask if I would like to place my order .. I told him I already did. Then waiting another 20 mins for it to come out only to get this soggy piece bread in it. Clearly it was made and kept out for a long time before it was brought to me. The food is pricey but worth it. I really love the organic and festivity of the food and the ambiance. The service sadly has been consistent mediocre. It's the small things like forgetting to give water or even ask. The kids are very nice but often preoccupied chatting and socializing that gets the way of actual service. They used to have a bar where you could skip the line. But that's gone now. I continue to come here for the food but the inconsistent service is a blemish on an otherwise lovely spot. I appreciate that it's pastured but I expected more. I'm really shocked that this place gets a good rating. Really? For what? Being overpriced? I came here with friends assuming we would have a great experience for the price. The Food and the Service sucked. It took almost an hour to get our food after the order was taken. You can see from the pictures what you get for your money. I had a chicken pesto sandwich that cost about $18 just for the sandwich, no sides. I'd be ok with the price if it was at least substantial but as you can see from the picture, there was barely a sprinkling of chicken. More tomato and spinach than chicken. The coffee was terrible as well. I observed people leave out of frustration from waiting for their food to arrive. I definitely won't be coming here again. And do not recommend this place. Just had my daughter's 16th birthday in their "wine lounge" (we didn't serve wine). It's an adorable patio with a covered dining area that seated the 16 girls very comfortably. It's got the perfect Encinitas vibe and was completely Instagram worthy for all the discerning teenage girl. The staff was attentive and accommodating, the food was delicious (of course) and my daughter felt completely spoiled. I've been going to Goodonya for years and I love all of their food and have never had anything bad here ever. I also love how they are seed oil free and support local farmers and such. I ordered the California breakfast bowl, and I added beef chorizo for some extra protein since I was feeling particularly hungry that morning. The extra beef chorizo was a whopping $6 to add on but I figured I would get a decent amount at the very least. This was not the case. I received what appeared to be a 1/4 pound of beef on the generous side but honestly it looks like less than that. I was pretty disappointed in the amount I received on my plate. If the add on for beef chorizo was 3 dollars (like most of their other add ons they offer) I wouldn't be writing this. I know inflation is bad and everything is more expensive, but this seems ridiculous. For reference, a pound of grass fed ground beef costs about 8 dollars at Sprouts. I will be going back to Goodonya but I definitely will not be adding any extras if it's that expensive. read more

The mushroom root beer was an interesting menu item that tasted very similar to normal root beer. Vibe / Service: 10/10 - They were very accommodating and sat us quickly for a party of 7 even though we only had 3 people present. The inside is cute and the staff were friendly and attentive. While we chose to not sit outdoors due to the cold weather, the outside area was very popular with stone fires and heaters. Parking: 8/10 - Street parking only. The French fries are excellent, but don't get them if you don't want to feel diet guilt - they're VERY greasy and fatty, considering they are fried in tallow (animal fat) Service was outstanding! I remember when it was just an efficient operation near Clairemont Mesa ... and I would go there for lunch breaks for fast, healthy food. Now, they have this prime location located near Swami's beach and frequented by a lot of foot and auto traffic. No need to advertise their healthy fare because anyone can tell by the crowds at Goodonya, that this place serves quality meals. Several times I have come here with friends who have strict dietary restrictions. Goodonya is always willing to comply. So don't be afraid to ask! Veggie Burrito: crunchy and chock full of colorful veggies. Tuna salad: colourful and the tuna salad isn't drowning in mayonnaise. Cookies: vegan and gluten free. . . It's really hard to buy one. Goodonya does takeaway coffee and tea. Within this area, there is a pile of these cookies. I am tempted to take the whole display for myself! Raw cakes: I am always skeptical with raw pastries because some out there are too full of overpowering coconut. I was surprised to find that the raw cakes served at Goodonya were perfectly balanced. The cakes were about 8 x 8 cm but are truly filling. I ordered the PB and chocolate raw cake and it was so smooth. I am not usually fan of PB, so I was really happy I tried this raw cake. Now I'm hooked! I will definitely be back to grab more of these raw cakes. The caution is that if you are in a rush, I suggest you order the drink online (via their website). The coffee drinks can take longer than nearby Philz. At Goodonya, I like to order the espresso-based drinks. Spicy mocha: if you have a sore throat, this will clear that up! It is spicy that hits at the back of the mouth. Mineral mocha: don't let the "mineral" part of the name discourage you from ordering this healthy drink. It tastes like hot chocolate, but less sweet. Cashew vanilla latte: on warmer days, I like this latte that can be made less sweet if requested. Goodonya also has some great smoothies too! This is a really convenient location to get fruit and veg smoothies to enjoy while taking a warm walk to view Encinitas' scenery and surfers. read more

FOOD/DRINK Golden Latte - Heavy on the turmeric flavor so if you like turmeric, this is for you! As for me, I did not like it very much. A bit difficult to drink. Breakfast Tacos - These were so bland! The eggs were not seasoned. There was not much sausage. You could make this at home but better.
