It's been over a year since my last review and some things have changed. The big change is the fact that they got rid of the electronics and computer department. As a result, they moved all of their minor electronics, such as TVs and kitchenware to the former spot, leaving the back wall completely empty where those items used to be. About 80% of the space is given over to clothing and I noticed the prices here seem higher than other Goodwill's. Even the neck ties sell between $5.50 to $7.50. It seems as though the selection, apart from clothing, is just not what it used to be. Nonetheless it's still worth popping into from time to time to see what's new. read more

Wrote this on Google too: About a year ago, I walked into this Goodwill with my wife and 4-year-old daughter. I used the restroom and was in the handicap stall for maybe 10 minutes. Out of nowhere, an older male employee with glasses started banging on the door, accusing me of being in there for "an hour" and "doing drugs." I told him that wasn't true -- I had just arrived with my family. He cursed at me and said he'd call the cops and the manager. Then three other employees showed up, repeating the same false claim. One said I had 60 seconds to get out or they'd call the police. One even asked me who my family was and what they were wearing, like I was lying. I was embarrassed, angry, and shaken. What they didn't know was that I have PTSD, and in that moment, I wasn't just worried about humiliation -- I was scared for my life. I was legally carrying a firearm (Texas is constitutional carry), and all I could think was: If the cops show up, and this escalates, my pistol could fall out. Things could go horribly wrong -- in front of my wife and daughter. When I came out of the stall, I was furious. I confronted the employee at the register and called out how disrespectful it was. Later, I came back to speak with the manager. That same employee tried to talk to me again, and I told him to back off. I called HR the next day. They offered me a $50 gift card to come back. I never took it. That wasn't an apology -- that was a slap in the face. This isn't about expecting special treatment. It's about basic respect and accountability. I was falsely accused, publicly humiliated, and put in a dangerous situation -- all while just trying to use the restroom. I've never gone back. I won't. I'm not writing this for sympathy -- I'm writing it because stuff like this needs to be addressed, not covered up with a gift card. read more

Im going to kick myself for sharing this gem. A wide open store with lots of empty space may fool you into thinking there isn't an impressive and well-curated collection here. There is! This location was huge! Of course I was surprised at how spacious the retail floor was. There used to be a Goodwill located further up the street. I wonder if this was it and is now located where it is now?! Anyway, the men's clothing section was small compared to the women's section, but that's more than okay. What I was impressed with was the size of the book section. Seems like more and more thrift stores are getting away from offering books, but not this one. Unfortunately, I didn't find anything to purchase, but that is more than okay since I didn't really need anything. Please shop here. You won't be disappointed. read more

Written with the caveat for any consignment type shop, YMMV, depending on your interests. Well kept, neat and clean, and friendly staff. Found some neat stuff, a Hogwarts sign for a granddaughter (big Harry Potter fan), a couple of beer glasses for my collection, and surprisingly, a suit to replace my old one. About the only time I have to dig out a suit is for weddings or funerals, so didn't really need a brand new one, custom fitted. Poked through the suits, actually found a jacket that fit like it was tailored, and then the matching trousers over in the separate trou section. Don't know suits, but I liked the material, and the label said Chasnoff (Austin). Checked out Chasnoff's website, don't know how much this would be new, but they did mention that if you buy a suit over $1100, you get a free custom shirt! Figured since this practically brand new, never worn suit was under $25, I did OK. read more

It use to be the place to take your family to find a good reasonable deal or two, but now it's a place that's keeping up with retail prices an it's running people away, I ain't gonna lie have been a victim of some of these over priced items but I guess im the fool for continuing to purchase these items. This is a good location, but quite small. There are clothing sections for both genders and all ages, but due to the size of the store, there isn't a huge selection. I also found shoes and home goods. There were other areas, but I didn't investigate them. The store is in a small shopping center with directional parking, so when you enter, be mindful of the traffic pattern.  There isn't a large amount of parking, but this location is off the beaten path, so I suspect it is adequate. read more

The best employees of any Goodwill in Austin and a very clean and well cared for store. They got rid of the computer corner - WHY GOODWILL WHY That was one of the best features of this Goodwill. Friendly and helpful staff always here. Love this location. UPDATE - I hadn't been in a few weeks when I wrote this. I'm not docking points yet but it seems the prices have risen DRAMATICALLY in a relatively short period of time. New management? Not sure what is going on here. Another one bites the dust and joins the ranks of all the other overpriced Goodwills in Austin. What a shame. read more

This Goodwill location is very new and has only been open a few months (Steinmart used to be at this location previously before it closed) & with it being a new store I'm for sure loving how clean, organized, and spacious this new Goodwill is! Goodwill for sure is one of my happy places & I love "treasure hunting" for those stylish clothing pieces to wear for work or my workout gear for cheap! Since sharing is caring here are a few of my "likes" and "FYI(s)".. FYI: -"Goodwill Boutique" is the term that one of the GW employees told me when explaining why some of the items are priced super high..I mean I am at Goodwill! So basically, GW is now carrying new items and some of them are name brand items (Bebe, Levi's, ect) and these new items have a pink sticker on them & normally these items are located on the displays in the front of the store. -DISCOUNT DAYS: so yes, you will see that GW prices the used name brand items a little higher than non name brand BUT there are discount days that depending on the color tag items are an additional 50% off. At the front of the store entrance there is normally a sign that says what the color tag is that day. "Like(s)" -at this particular GW location I really like how there are plenty of dressing rooms on both ends of the store so you normally do not have to wait very long... thankfully :). -and this location has a great selection of clothes and I just love looking through all the racks! :) Lastly, I have to give kudos to all the employees at this Goodwill location because they are so friendly! I got a good deal on a golf shirt but the checkout guy was pretty rude. Older dude, Grey hair and mustache. Guess he had a bad day.

Well today I was very excited to discover a new Goodwill in my area. The store occupies the old Steinmart location on West Anderson lane. I also pride myself on supporting local businesses and local Thrift Charity shops. While I was walking through the store, I noticed an unusual piece of furniture away from everything else by the dressing rooms. I inquired if the piece was for sale . The associate replied he had placed it the so customers could use the mirror in it to see themselves. I asked how much it was. The associate promptly went in search of a price for me. When he returned 2 other associates joined him and were also very pleasant and helpful and priced it with a tag quite reasonably as well. Literally seconds after that, the store manager appeared and said the piece was not available for sale and was up for auction! I was FURIOUS. She removed the price sticker and said her associates were wrong in offering it to me and that I should return to bid for it! ?!?! The associates priced it at $49.99. The Mgr. said maybe you'll get lucky and get it for $20.00. This made me very suspicious of her customer service skills. Ive worked in customer service in the past. Dismissing me in such a patronizing way was embarrassing and unprofessional. Poor customer service at a Goodwill is completely unheard and unacceptable. When she rudely dismissed me and walked away, the original associates helping me, were very apologetic and one shook my hand and said he was sorry. I told him it was not his fault. The rest of the time I was there, the manager glared at me as if I was going to somehow make off with this piece of furniture. read more

Asked the return poilcy when checking out. All the cashier told me was "7 days" (then proceeded to count what day 7 days out took me to). Apparently, Good Will's official return policy is 7 days, and only to store credit (regardless of payment method). Also, no returns on new items (with pink sticker). Had never needed to return anything to Good Will before, so I didn't expect to find resistance to a return only a few days after purchase. read more

Sincerely, this is the nicest Goodwill I have ever been too. Everything is incredibly clean and organized. They have displayed throughout with featured items and color coordinated and themed sections. Everyone is super friendly and nice and it is huge. I walked in and was shook at how large it was. This is a new place opened only a few days ago. It's large but way overpriced as far as clothes go. Goodwill keeps raising it's clothing prices which makes buying clothes not an actual bargain. Seven dollars for tops for women for example. Really? I recall when it was an actual bargain then clothes went up to $4.99 two or three years ago and now this. One can go to Ross across the street and get something new for not much more and sometimes less. Goodwill is not a thrift store for clothes anymore. It's a place to buy used clothes for too much money. read more

Just stopped by this Goodwill today while out visiting thrift stores. Overall, this store was a little pricey but it was clean and organized and the cashiering staff was very nice. The problem came in with the manager. I had one skirt that did not have a tag - summer/office skirt, rayon blend, no manufacturer tag in the waistband. I got it from a rack with 3 other skirts priced between $3.99 and $7.99. The cashier asked for a price check and the manager came over. She looked at it and said it was "boutique" and it was $14,99. I told her I got it on the same rack as mentioned above and there wasn't a single skirt over there priced that high including the formal skirt I had in my stack for $7.99 and the leather one for $5.99. She just kept saying "it's boutique". When I asked her what made it "boutique" and ridiculously priced for a Goodwill, she just said "just because it is". I declined to get the skirt and really wish I hadn't gotten the other items I did go ahead and get. I won't be going back and probably won't go to other Goodwills either. They are much higher priced than other thrift stores in the area and their "new" stuff is starting to take center stage over recycled items. I definitely don't recommend this particular location unless you just want to pay more based on the whims of the manager. read more
