The crew at this particular Good Year have my loyalty as long as I live on Oahu. Today I went for a safety inspection and when I called to confirm it could be done today, Sean was like "we can take you now, come on down". He wasn't kidding, I arrived (45 minutes later) and there were 3 others in front if me in line so I expected to wait awhile. I settled in, in the large waiting area, which by the way is fitted with a big screen TV, complimentary coffee and a very cold AC unit. Within 15 minutes they are calling my name because they were done. It took me longer to drive there then to complet the service...haha. Service is always a pleasant experience, the staff is very customer service oriented and patient. For the last 2 years, they do all the regular and emergency service on my vehicle(s) and worth the drive from Kahala to Waipahu to feel confident that my vehicle has been taken care of and that I have paid a reasonable price for each service. Call me the "glass-half full guy" but I'm a skeptic of what I see in the media. I generally believe in the goodness of the human race and don't easily suspect that people are out there to "get me" and my wallet. Maybe it's a bit naive, but I generally doubted those "Dateline Specials" about shady mechanics and rip off repair stores... that is until now. Since moving to the area I've decided to leave behind my old stomping grounds for auto maintenance in favor of saving gas and mileage. I've since visited the nearby Good Year Auto Service Center down the street. On my very first visit, I had a positive experience, nothing to sing praises about, but nothing to encourage me to write a review. My second visit was the polar opposite. I'm not a complete auto-dummy. I appreciate cars and I can be pretty handy with a set of tools given the time and opportunity. But I'm a working professional and I don't have a lot of time to service my own car and so I will willingly fork up the cost to pay someone else what I'm not willing to do. I do however, like any other right-minded individual, likes a good deal and will penny pinch every corner I can get. Speaking of "deals," I found a "16.99 oil change coupon" on their website and was excited to use it considering my "change oil" light had just come on this week. I went down as a walk in and got immediately serviced (the only reason why they at least deserve a star). Unfortunately the manager Rodrigues wasn't willing to let me get the Standard oil change. He claimed I needed the premium Synthetic Blend oil just because my viscosity was 5w-20. I told him that conventional 5w-20 oil would work just fine and was even recommended by the manual. I even pointed out my previous service record with them that stated I had gotten the conventional oil on my last visit. He stated that they had given me the wrong oil on my last visit and that continuing to use such oil would damage my car. I was confused by his logic, he ADMITTED that his company gave me the wrong oil the last time, and so to rectify the situation i had to pay MORE?! Why should I have to pay more for something I don't need, none-the-less if they had made mistakes to my car? I was told they wouldn't do my oil change unless I paid for the premium service. I was reluctant to go ahead with the service since this was my only day off and my oil indicator said I was at less than 5%. What was supposed to be a $16.99 job + labor and disposal fees had turn into a $52 event. On top of that the manager had the same attitude toward every other customer... pay the gouged out fees or leave. He charged another lady about $280 to change a battery on an American brand SUV. Batteries really can't be that pricey, especially for a domestic brand vehicle!!! NOTE: I later went home to check on the validity of what I was told concerning my oil. All the websites I've visited have said there is no problem in using conventional oil (especially pre-75K miles - my car only has 35K) and that using Synthetic is a waste of money and that Syth-Blend will help, but isn't necessary. I pointed this out to Rodrigues and he said nothing can be done since the service had been performed already. WHAT A RIP OFF! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! read more

Scheduled an appointment for an oil change at 9am dropped off my car. Called at 3pm asking if my car is ready to be picked up and was told that they haven't even touched my car yet! And they close in an hour. Car was finally done at around 4:30pm (7 hour wait with a scheduled appointment!). So disappointed & won't be coming back to this location! Very unprofessional! IMO they don't deserve any stars! Update The next morning my car wouldn't start! Trying to figure out if it's the battery or something else wrong (I never had a problem with my car starting before). I found a coupon in the Midweek for a "Fall Car Care Package" for $29.95 which includes all the things that Jiffy Lube conducts (minus the vacuum) PLUS a tire rotation. I thought I'd give it try 'cause who could pass up a good deal these days! My husband, son, and I walked in about 9am and was greeted by Chloe. She was very friendly and very customer service oriented. Told her that I was here to have my vehicle serviced and had the coupon. She took my information and I then inquired about the turn around time. She admitted that at this point in time, there was 1 technician available and that I had 2-3 vehicles ahead of me (couldn't remember exact amount). Worked for us because we had time to kill. Chloe called a few hours later stating that my car needed to have the wiper blades changed AND the brake flushed (?). Gave me my "new" total in which I decided to do because they were truly overdue (lol). I appreciated the heads up and choice to do it or not - which I chose to have them complete. My vehicle was not ready until approximately 230pm. It did not upset me because I was forewarned about having only 1 technician at the time and a few cars ahead of me. I am very pleased with their customer service they provided even if their service was slow. Nothing brings a person back like stellar service. read more

Been here a few times for minor things like safety inspections and oil changes, simply because they're within walking distance of my work. What I find dissatisfactory, is their female receptionist (Francine maybe?) is extremely unpleasant. She needs some serious lessons in customer service. This last time she wasn't outright rude to me, but she has been before. She is DEFINITELY not friendly, though. Don't know what her problem is, but she is a very poor representation of the company/store. I've never had any issues with any of the other employees working there, the rest of them are very friendly. The reason I didn't give 1 star is because when I took my car in today to get a front wheel bearing replaced, they diagnosed my car quickly and came back with an estimate within maybe an hour. Got my tires here. None of that nitrogen-only crap from the members-only store. Good service. Maybe too good. As with any Goodyear, they'll tend to quote you everything that needs fixing on your vehicle. So they're always selling you something. Most cases, you'll need it down the line. But they try to make it sound like you need to get it today. During the time I was waiting for my tires to be done, I could hear the sales pitches and expert closings. They're smooth like a car salesman. You just have to know more about your own car than most, and know what to say no to. Easy to talk to; returns calls promptly. Probably another reason I didn't go with the members only store. Similar to other non-dealer shops, I highly recommend you go in with one service at a time. For example, if you go in asking for an oil change, transflush, spark plug replacement, etc in the same day, you're bound to be disappointed about something. I find that retail shops like these are best when you go in with one service or major repair in mind. read more

We needed to get new tires. And after driving around looking for deals in the Waipahu area, we finally seen Good year. We're so happy we chose to go here. David and I believe her name was Francine?, they both greeted us and asked what type of service we needed. It was a little after 5pm, they closed at 6, David went out to my car and looked at what type of tires we needed. He then quoted us with the price for one to four tires. We decided to change all four. He even gave a a HUGE discount to getting new tires and installing. He even asked if it was a good deal and that he could get our car started. While waiting, Francine gave my son some stickers and a coloring book and crayons to keep him busy. Estimated time they took on our car was about 30-45 min. Probably less. We left Goodyear 5 min to 6pm. I would definitely recommend this place to others. And yes, we will be coming back for future services. Thank you David for your GREAT customer service!!!! read more

I originally called after 10 a.m. for an appointment with the intention that I needed an oil change and a safety inspection. David was very pleasant making my same day appointment (where other places were all booked for the day) at 2 p.m. which he approximated to be 90 minutes long. My car went in and I waited inside. After 30 minutes, I was told that my wheels needed alignment. After an hour, they showed me acid test strips from my cooling system and brake fluid proving they needed to be flushed and that should take another hour. Fast forward, I spent 4 hours in their waiting room. Well, it was air conditioned, furnished with cable TV (a marathon of Pawn Stars played), free coffee, a clean restroom, candy dispenser of M&M, etc. and a soda machine. Soooo, since I was waiting so long Francine and David made some things free: tire inspection, tire rotation, safety check, and fuel system cleaning. Francine also price matched or discounted the rest and my total came out to $339. Hint: they will price match with any other place. Do your research before going. read more

I had made an online appointment which I guess wasn't to their liking because they already had a lot of work. I guess? So their goal seemed to hurry up and get me out meaning they did the bare minimum. So making an appointment online means absolutely nothing. I went in to get my steering wheel and brakes checked. My brake concern was immediately dismissed and the reason was because it was morning when it was making noises. But I wasn't done saying everything before that conclusion came up. Also the steering wheel problem was immediately it could be your alignment. So without even checking they did the alignment and sent me on my way but not before telling me I should take it to the deal. So you fix what you thought it "might" be, make me pay for it and then tell me to go to the dealer. If you want your car serviced properly I highly suggest taking it somewhere else. They don't check for sure what is wrong, do whatever to get your money and send you on your way. The only reason why I may go back is because I paid $170 for that alignment (which didn't fix anything) and I get 5 more free over the next three years but you know even with that I may not go back. read more

Now I know why they call this location... "Last choice Goodyear" ONE customer service oriented person was great, but she is the only one that we ran into that is tolerable. Our online appointment apparently doesn't mean anything because of some glitch in their website, you have to call to make an appoimtment.. online appointments mean nothing. After trying to explain that it's not a customer fault, they put us on a waiting list for a safety check. Are car registration expired so I had to come back once the safety check was initially inspected and the registration was paid. Apparently only one man does the safety checks there and his schedule seems to change as the wind blows. That I can live with it's the attitude that we received as a customer that really gets to me. I'm sure there are other good people who work there unfortunately I didn't have the opportunity to work with them. If you need a safety check or something done by Goodyear my suggestion is Drive 2 miles down the road to the Waipahu town center and visit that Goodyear. Poor customer service, surprisingly! They did not call after tech did initial diagnosis, and when I called to get info they couldn't explain well what the tech wrote - said they'd advise the tech to elaborate next day. They did not call the next day, and when I called them same issue occurred, could only read what was in the paperwork and the paperwork had not been updated. This is when I learned the tech only works mornings and I'd have to try then. Went face-to-face next morning. Tech explained what he did, would not listen when I explained why my custom built performance motor would not respond well to his "feel" when he did a "manual compression check" where he surmised the timing belt slipped, bent valves and perhaps damaged pistons (note: car ran perfectly going onto boat in LA to ship to HI, battery was dead on arrival...unsure how slippage and destruction would have transpired in transit). Would not perform further diagnosis upon request, stating he "knew" and didn't need to. Would not visually confirm via timing marks that the belt indeed slipped. Would not perform full compression check. Needed to pay bill and get car towed elsewhere. Rep at counter would not show me what was on the file, demanded I pay, stated "I think we've gone over enough. We're done." Busy shop, seems to do well by most customers with basic concerns/safety checks. Would not bring any issues here requiring actual attention and diagnosis. read more

Prior to this appointment the same place I went this year to do oil change. When I got there I told the lady in the front desk and 1 other guy that my friend tried to do my oil change yesterday instead. First off do not come to this Goodyear location! We have received the worst customer service I have ever received in servicing my vehicle(s). We started off at the Goodyear off of Salt Lake but their inspector was out sick so we called this location. They told us it was a 2 hour wait for a safety inspection. We decided to head over because our options were limited with it being a Sunday. Once we arrived there wasn't anyone in the office to greet us and we ended up waiting almost 10 minutes for someone to assist us. David, the store manager, wasn't very friendly in greeting my husband and me to find out what we needed. I explained that I needed a safety and gave him my insurance and registration. For reference we are military and are not considered Hawaii residents so I have out of state plates. He asked me in a very condescending way if I planned on getting Hawaii plates. We were then told there was about 4 cars ahead of ours and it would be a lengthy wait time. We brought our second car and told him we could leave the car. He seemed relieved we could leave the car and said he would call when it was done and ready for pick up. We decided to run errands and go home for a bit. After about 3.5 hours we decided to call and we were told the car was done. There was no indication if they found anything while doing the safety inspection or if the car had passed or failed. Once we arrived back at Goodyear we entered and again waited nearly 15 minutes before being assisted by David. He pulled out all of our paperwork and still didn't tell us if our car had passed or failed. We were told the price for the inspection and nothing else. Before paying I asked if we had passed, he said no you failed due to your registration. I asked him to explain why since my registration for Florida is good for another 8 months and my Hawaii registration had another full day before expiring. He tried saying that none of my paperwork had tomorrow as the expiration to which I had to point out to him all the information. Once he realized he was wrong he said okay it will be awhile before we can redo the stickers. I politely asked how long it would take and he huffed and puffed and grumbled saying he didn't know but he had to finish something else before taking care of the issue. This was aggravating since we were already told our car was done and then had to wait an additional 20 minutes for him to print the new stickers. Overall I would not recommend this place for a safety inspection or anything else for that matter. My husband and I will be using Lex Brodie's or the base auto hobby shop for our future mechanic and inspection needs. read more

This place does not respect the first come first serve for their customer. I was the third in line for a safety check. Been waiting for for about an hour and a girl came in for a safety check who knows one of the workers and they did her safety check first. NEVER COME to this place unless you know the workers otherwise you'll wait forever. Also, the workers chit chat while helping customers that makes the checking in process longer. Does the state of Hawaii requires the safety station to drive your vehicle for safety check? This seem like an invasion of privacy. Why would they need to drive my car from the parking stall to the safety station? If they break something, they should be held liable for it. If something goes missing, they should be held liable for it. If they dirty or sullied the seats, they should be held liable for it. They should be held liable for any damage or missing property if they goes in to my vehicle. read more

I have to give a star in order to write this damn review. Yelp, please add a negative star to your feature. First off we had a tire that was still under warranty, we had a flat that we brought in and the guy that helped my husband said that they didnt know when the tire order will come in since they have to special order it. This happened on 7/20/15. Can you imagine shuffling your kids around back and forth to school and errands on a spare tire for three weeks?! Anyway, we get no update whatsoever. So fast forward to three weeks later 8/13/15 My husband calls them to check on the status of the tire, they say that we would have to order the tire online from this company with our money and that they'll reimburse us. I don't see the whole point in that. First of all, if my husband didn't call then we wouldve just been left in the dark waiting for a tire that might not ever come. Second of all, why do we have to pay for it and then get reimburse later? It's just a whole extra step to take. It seems like they just tossed our tire/problem aside and just forgot about it or been putting it off. You guys need to hire workers that are on it. UPDATE YOUR CUSTOMERS ON WHATS GOING ON. If a customer has to call and check up on it especially after several weeks like we did is not acceptable. read more

Overall they put the tires I needed on my vehicle. I guess you shouldn't be in a hurry to get anything else done with your day cause its gonna take a while. One person working the desk is insufficient when it takes 10 -15 minutes per customer. I was third in line, 35-40 minutes later I get helped. Other than that, dropped car off, picked up at the end of the day, so I don't know how long it took to do the job. read more

We needed an oil change and were way overdue for a brake inspection, but wanted a quote on the latter before proceeding. As promised, they called us back with their quote and as always it's expensive, having said the pads, rotors, and calipers need to be replaced; way more than anticipated. So we kindly tell Dave or "the guy" that we'd shop around for better deals and he replies "of course, lmk what they quote you and I'll try my best to price match or get something around that range". Sure enough, we get a cheaper deal and we call Dave back and was able to receive the price match. They were able to finish the job in a few hours. Great service! I talked to Mike over the phone regarding a situation that occurred at Ewa Beach Goodyear. Basically, EB Goodyear did not want to perform a failed safety inspection (see my review of EB Goodyear). Mike already knew what I was talking about when I mentioned "getting a failed inspection." Came in today, got the failed inspection easily, waited less than an hour! No stress! They took care of what needed to be taken care of. The staff there are friendly! They know what they are doing! Quick and easy! So glad we came to this Goodyear & we will continue to travel a little bit further out of Ewa Beach for better service! So my saga continues (see my review for Goodyear Ewa Beach). I called these guys yesterday afternoon after all the trouble I had with Ewa Beach Goodyear and the receptionist took it upon herself to get me an estimate over the phone. What good customer service, I thought at first. She told me to bring it in first thing in the morning since it is a Holiday and there will be a lot of walk in customers. I set my alarm early and got there right as they opened at 7 am. There were about 4 people already there and I waited to be checked in. A gentleman in a t-shirt was the only one there to check us all in. Didn't catch his name but really nice guy. He showed me my estimate just like how the receptionist had described it over the phone the previous day. He told me might be a while since only a few mechanics were in (I didn't know he was one of them too!) 4 hours and 2 movies later (watching on my Tablet, thank God!) my vehicle is still in the lot. I ask the receptionist who I think came in at 8:00am where I stand in place of service. She went to the back and asked the guy that checked me in who was now all dirty and sweaty because he too was working on cars. I don't know if he was helping because he wanted to or because he had to. When he came back, he said he'll get to me next. About 12:45, receptionist now asks me if I can drop off the car or reschedule......WTF!?!?! I'm already here for like 5 hours and you want me to "drop it off?" reschedule??!??!!! Hell no!!! I told them I'm waiting until they are done. Guy in T-shirt comes back and tells me that "might have to reschedule cuz I gotta drop the exhaust...das why 1.1 hours......" Holyfrickensmokes!!! ya gotta be kidding!!! I told him I dropped the skid plate yesterday and I cannot get to it without a vehicle lift. He then put in on the lift and called me to the auto bay while my car is on the lift so I can show the mechanic where my oil sending unit is located. Do you guys not have Internet access or proper training? Or is it because the one and only guy who has a clue called in sick? I figured they could at least do what I did and use Google to find out how to get to it. While I was waiting and noticing the workers coming in to buy a soda for their break, I noticed that the conversation with the T-shirt guy and the receptionist turned to one of frustration: sounded like a few people called in sick making their jobs harder and that they were trying to call people in, which I figured would be hard since it is Veterans Day. I think one of the workers had an emergency today too backing up the morning appointments as well but at least try to get someone to come in or could they borrow mechanics from other stores???? I dunno...... Right now.....it is 1:11 on a Veterans Day and I spent six hours on my ass in the shithole of a lounge area they have staring at my car on the lift..... I'll post on the final results but geez...nuff with Goodyear Vehicle service!!! Phil and Capitol Auto, you guys are still number one but I had to resort to Goodyear since they were open on Saturdays and could supposedly take me in last minute. I learned my lesson and will always need to go to Capitol Auto!!!!!! Update: Finally after changing their lightbulb myself in the bathroom since they were severely short handed, I was pleasantly surprised to see my Armada in the front all done!!! Whew! About time. The receptionist felt bad and gave me a $25 discount and the mechanic came back in with my faulty part as a souvenir for a very long day. The mechanic also cleared my check engine light but I know the oil sending unit was not the only one triggering the light since I got it checked somewhere else. I initially wanted to just give them 1 star but after chatting with the receptionist, I realized that they were doing the best they could with the limited amount of resources on a busy Veterans Day. I hope everything is well with the technician that failed to show up and not call in to say he wouldn't be in today. That was the main reason that they were so far behind.
