Went to get my 24.95 oil change today...realized I had a tail light out sort of mentioned it but said not to fix it thinking they might charge an arm and a leg to change it...came back to pick up my car..they fixed my tail light for me! The best part they only charged me for an additional $3.95 (cost of the bulb) Smart move 'cause now I know where I will be getting my oil changes from now on :) I am now a loyal customer! read more

I have had many services done here brakes,tiers oil changes ect. They are an old school style shop straight forward not trying to sell you extra things you don't need. They give you reliable work at a fair price you are not being charged extra for frills like wifi, TV ect. read more

I finally found a place I can trust. I've been going to the dealer and here off and on and lately I notice the dealers are telling me I need things changed and when I come here for a second opinion I was told otherwise. In this economy it is very important to find a mechanic that is trustworthy. I also just got a flat and they helped me with everything even when it was closing time. Don and the guys at Goodyear are just wonderful! My parents took their cars to them, and now that I have my moms car, I still take it to them. (I commute from SJ to PG for car service they are so good) The REAL reason I think these guys are the best? When I turned 16 I needed car lessons in how to check fluids, change tires, etc.. For a box of pastries these guys sat down with a 16-yr old girl and got me to change a tire! They didn't get annoyed or mean, were just happy to teach somebody about car care! They always fix everything I need them too (and don't charge extra for those I didn't realize needed fixing) and in a timely manner too! Never takes more than a day for anything!! read more

I discovered a screw in my right rear tire due to the construction going on in the building I work in. My husband took my car up to the Goodyear shop to get it fixed. These were practically brand new tires so I was really upset. When he got there, close to closing time, the technician checked the tire, pulled out the screw, checked for leaks and sent him on his way at NO CHARGE. No leak and no damage was done so, great job. Normally I don't write reviews. But I can't keep quiet about these folks. I took my truck in to get the heater core cleaned and to put on a new brake light switch. Pretty normal mechanic stuff. Needless to say I got my vehicle back in worst shape than I gave it to them. They did not replace any of the screws in the steering column or dash, lights that worked before now do not work. The mechanic called me at 8:30 am on a SATURDAY to ask me what wire he should snip. Fucking unbelievable!! The only reason I took it to these people is because my mechanic was busy. Anyways don't take your car here they'll butcher it. Go to Greg Bean auto, he knows his stuff no bullshit read more

I'm sitting here writing this review as I'm still waiting for some simple work. I was told balancing 4 tires would be less than an hour. Nearly two hours ago! If they were super busy I might understand. But not when guys are standing around talking. The work is now finished and they did a good job. My only complaint was above, wasting time. read more

This place is amazing! I called the manager (Don) because my light sensor on my car went on and I thought I needed an alignment and he said bring it in. I didn't have a lot of time but wanted to make sure the car was safe to drive because I have to get my daughter at the airport in The Bay Area. I drove in and there was an awesome man named Louis ready to help right away. I explained the sensor on my car is on and I think I need an alignment. I'm sure he laughed to himself but said "I think you just need air in your tires. They're low." And grabbed the air machine. He put the air in and the sensor continued to flash. I told him to go ahead and do an alignment. He brought it into the garage, checked and confirmed I didn't need an alignment but the sensor needed replacement. Wow! How about that? An honest person doing a job well done. He could have taken my money and did an unnecessary alignment but he didn't. I paid less than $40.00 to have my care inspected and all tires filled correctly and Louis even went under my car to put air in the spare. Who does that these days? Goodyear in Pacific Grove is wonderful! Don was so accommodating and nice! They have a loyal customer in me! Well done Don and Louis! You are the best!!! read more

Our tire picked up a nail while on our trip to Carmel. As it was it turned out the nail penetrated the tire in an almost fatal area, but Don and his guys were able to patch it and confidently sent us on our way. Exceptional small town service. I called before I entered the facility to get my tires rotated (which I had bought there) and was told I didn't need an appointment. Well, when I arrived the guy at the front said it was their lunchtime and I would have to wait for a long time - an hour. I left and will never return to that location again! read more

Have bought my trailer tires here multiple times in recent years. It's an odd tire size, so they always have to order it - I just call them, it's a 30 second conversation, Don knows exactly what I'm talking about, orders it and done! It always comes in within a day. I usually get Don on the phone and he's just nice, and knows what he's doing. Also - he usually answers by the second ring. It feels like good old-fashioned service. I've called other tire places before finding PG Goodyear and they make it more complicated... or put me on hold forever. PG Goodyear is fast and they make it easy. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. This is the most unskilled and unprofessional business I have ever dealt with. I had four wheels and tires dismounted so they could be painted at a different tire place and only because of convenience I had good year in pg remount and balance them for me. They were not knowledgable enough to realize my rear tires and wheels are wider than the fronts and mounted them all on the wrong wheels. I got them home to put on my car to find it was wrong but not until after trying to leave my driveway and scratching the entire inside of two Frey painted wheels. When I took them back to be fixed the manager, Don was rude and unapologetic. He in fact raised his voice at me and only after 20 minutes of argument did he refund my $100 for the work that was incorrectly done. He then told me sorry if I was rude " too many pain killers today". I got home again to realize one tire was completely flat without air in it. Only 10 psi ( supposed to be 40). Had to drive it flat to a gas station. Two days later I am realizing the tire is again flat due to a leak in the valve core. I will not be allowing them to fix this for me because clearly they aren't capable. read more

Not trustworthy! My wife went for an oil change...which was fine. They then told her the car needed a new serpentine belt (at approx $170 to fix). I told her not to get it done since I recently had all that checked. Six months and two oil changes/belt checks later...the serpentine belt still doesn't need to be changed. Nothing like being lied to! I will never go back there. read more

i want to give my business to locals and i am not one to write negative reviews. there are so many better options than this place. the manager don in knowledgeable but could care less about your needs and being fair. i had my rotors fixed there four months ago. there was a squeecking noise and i brought it back in to get it checked. to my surprise one on them was beginning to crack. i stayed quited while he was on my computer. he came back and said it would be 400 to fix and he was doing it at cost. absolutely riduclous. when i complained he said it was probably my break pads and the way i was driving it. i have had the car since 2001 and it has180000 miles on it never once have i had that problem. i am doing my research to see the exact causes as well as seeing was kind of legal recourse i can presue....... ie; he said he was doing it at cost which was total b.s. that what he charge me the first time and midas in seaside will do it for half the price. this is not the last he has heard from me. please take your car elsewhere you don't need the headache trust me. read more

I've had one tire repaired here, and bought a new set for my SUV. No complaints about their service, they did what they said they were going to do, but pricing was a little on the high side. I never done any other service here so I wouldn't be able to comment further. read more

This garage is called Pacific Grove Tire & Service now 2/20/2019. We brought our car in asking for a tune-up because we didn't like how it ran. We thought it might in need of some service and prepared to pay around $500 for the service. After half an hour, they called us back and said that we could pick it up. We went and asked why and they said there was nothing wrong with our car. Nothing needed to be done and they didn't charge anything for their time and work. I'm writing this review just to say that these people are honest people who don't take advantage of their customers' ignorance; and, in this area, Pacific Grove and Monterey, places where high end cars roam the streets. They could have charged at least some inspection fee but they didn't even do that, knowing that people can afford it. In this time and day, I am grateful to have known people with integrity and respect like them, and they deserve a stellar review!!! We will not go anywhere else for any car-related services ever again. read more

I was recently traveling to Asilomar Conference Center and hit a LARGE truck recap on the highway. Rolling over the recap tore up the splash guard at the engine area of the sedan. I visited Don Fretwell and Rene at Goodyear Pacific Grove and was treated with understanding, respect and expertise. I highly recommend these folks! Very knowlegable and fair! read more

Do not repeat my mistake! After 15 years of excellent service ( Don was the manager) I took my car to this shop under a new manager. This new manager made me sign that I would pay $55 for diagnostics, to be removed once they did the job. However, the (excellent) mechanic insisted that he should get $55 for diagnostics, so the manager added $55 to the bill. He charged me $149.50 for the new(?) NPW water pump, priced $25 -$50. The manager took every opportunity to explain what a mess the previous manager (Don, where are you?) had done, yet he himself demonstrated very poor mechanical knowledge: when I first walked in and explained about the leakage he immediately attributed it to the heating, 8 hours of labor, $110 per hour. Outside, the (excellent) mechanic explained to me it was not possible, and it must have been something else. The scaring/ignorance tactics made very poor impression of the place under the new manager. It used to be such a good shop. I recommended it to friends, but now unfortunately all I can recommend is STAY AWAY. read more

I took my vehicle here before a cross country trip to get a second set of eyes on anything that could cause me trouble. I was really impressed overall by my experience. I'm some what of a back yard mechanic and know the vehicle pretty well, i was really pleased that Goodyear was honest with me on what the issues were (all very minor) and didn't try to talk me into anything that didn't really need to be address. Sadly I'm leaving the area but if I were staying I would patronize Goodyear often. read more

Pretty quick service if you ask me. They were able to get my tires done on time and didn't over charge me like most places with extra fees. I would highly recommend them. Pacific Grove might not be the first place you'd think of to take your vehicle for a great oil change experience, but life can be full of great surprises; this place is everything you'd hope for. Knowledgable professionals, with just the right amount of friendly, in a clean and comfortable facility. Easy access, easy to find. Outstanding bargain for something we really shouldn't scrimp on... around thirty bucks or less including fees and taxes. In-store coupons are available. What looks like a corporate store is actually a well established family buisiness operating under the Goodyear banner. Drove by it for many years thinking it was expensive and only a tire store. Jimmy (mechanic) and James (manager) got me in without an appointment first thing Monday morning and had my Santa Fe fixed before the end of the day. Diagnosed that it was not a battery issue but a starter issue. Replaced the alternator after coordinating with the dealer regarding warranty and fixed a headlight that went out. No extra hassle or haggling. Quick, efficient, and the hours are super convenient. Additionally, I saw them assist two other impromptu customers with "quick" tire fixes. Great customer service! Very fast, very professional, super courteous. I've grown to trust the staff at this goodyear location. The young man who helped, I believe his name was Darrel, worked so hard to get our family van back on the road, and just in time for the holiday weekend trip. We needed a whole mess of things serviced before we left, like an oil change/filter, new rotors, new brakes, new tires, windsheild wipers, the works, plus we were on a budget. The way our vehicle was taken care of and how mindful of our budget they were has lead to this review. Our van was promised back by a certain time, and he finished even earlier than said. The kids timed him, he finished our brakes and rotors in less than 25 minutes, it was awesome. Not to mention the fact that the oil change was done even faster, and when he finished he even recommend a cheap fuel treatment that would help keep a clean flow for longer.
