Heads up that the wait time could be 45 minutes or more. My group of 2 waited for probably 40 minutes. We got there a little before 8 and they opened at 7am so they are busyyy. Once we were seated, the service was great and they were super kind. I was able to make a fruit swap request and they said it was not problem. The açai bowl tasted great! The fruit were super fresh. The açai wasn't as refreshing compared to what I had at "Tropical tribe" but I much preferred the freshness of the fruit, portions and cost here at Goofy's. The Piña Colada Smoothie was also delish! We sat next to the balcony and were able to people watch and bird watch which was fun. We overhead a table nearby, this was their 7th time visiting this cafe. They seemed to love it! The server recommended either the kalau pork eggs Benedict or the big island loco moco. I got the Kalau pork eggs Benedict and my friend got the niu açaí bowl. Wow the okinawan purple potatoes are so bomb. I love that they gave me a salad and potatoes it's usually only one or another with an eggs Bendict. The kalau poke was savory, little fatty for my liking, but the Benedict was warm and gooey and melted in my mouth in a good way. Though I think the potatoes were the winner. We were looking for a place to grab dinner within walking distance of our hotel, and this place kept popping up. It has won Open Table Customer Favorite Award, Trip Advisor Customer Favorite Award, and several local awards, so we thought we'd give it a try. I read some comments about there being a wait, so I made a reservation on Open Table. Glad I did, because this place is quite small. Go up the stairs outside to get to the door, then the dining room is up a few more stairs inside. There are several tables and a cool table in the corner set up with pillows that give it a"loungy" effect. It's got a beachy look with reclaimed wood walls, surfboards, and high wood beamed ceiling. We sat by the open air window, which was nice because you can see down onto people passing on the sidewalk from the second level. Our server was really good and the drinks and food came out fast. Hubby and I ordered the exact same thing --a Blue Hawaiian (rum and pineapple? Yes, please!) and the Big Island Beef Loco Moco. I like my eggs over hard, and they happily did that for me. Walk up the stairs and you'll be met with the line but don't just stand there, go to the front and sign up on the wait list. Line moves pretty quickly so don't go too far away. Dang, it was an hour wait for breakfast at even 8am but it was worth it! We ordered the kalua pork benedict and substituted the kale salad for pineapple, French toast, and goofy omelet. Not one complaint from any of the food eaters. Their little biscuit bread... tender pork, light bbq sauce was AMAZING. I was not a big fan of the purple potatoes only bc I'm not fan of the sweetness. At exactly 7AM, we were seated. We got a few of their loco mocos. $24 for a huge beef patty, 2 eggs, brown rice, and a very rich and delicious special gravy. It is pretty expensive but it is a decent sized serving - good to share between 2. We got a big side of bacon, some smoothies, and the OKINAWAN SWEET PURPLE POTATO. In caps because it was that good. Lol. Love the ambiance of the cafe, we got seated by a window so that made it feel like we were having bfast at someone's house. The gravy was a little different from others I've had, but in the best way -- super flavorful and delicious. The Kona coffee hit the spot, and the French toast was also really tasty. Came here again in March 2026 after a visit in Feb 2017, and it has not changed too much when I look back at it. Food and drinks were great, and service was fun. There can be a bit of a wait during high time as seating is limited, but they have a sign in sheet at the front, and even with 4 people ahead of us, probably about 15 minutes at most? It's not often I get to the popular visitor spots in Waikiki, and know I've eaten here many years ago. Thanks for friends visiting, I gave them some recommendations we could all walk to and those chose Goofy's. It was fun to play visitor that morning and we had a great time. It's located near the Hilton Hawaiian Village and Hale Koa, so it's a great one for couples and families visiting. It's convenient to walk to as well; parking I'm unsure if it'd be worth it. It's upstairs near other stores along Ala Moana, they have an elevator for access. When you arrive you put your name on the sheet, they have some benches for waiting until they call your name. It's such a cute spot with various sized tables, some with benches and pillows. They also have a place for strollers if you're traveling with little ones. It's a pleasant view of busy Ala Moana Blvd below. They have a great selection of island favorites, lots of egg dishes and fruits. Their coffee was also excellent, strong and dark. I opted for the breakfast burrito with salsa and loved how tasty and filling it was. Prices here are also reasonable, if maybe a little high for the area. In my quest for the best Loco Moco I think I may have found it. In a modest place on the second floor was the Goofy Cafe. It's a smaller place with limited seating located at the start of Waikiki. It has the vibe of a local house in Hawaii. I was seated quickly and ordered Loco Moco ASAP. The waitress was excellent. Then I saw it.....the Loco Moco I've been searching for. 2 eggs, 2 hamburger patties on a bed of rice and surrounded by a moat of delicious gravy. The way they made it a rectangle worked perfect. I had an omelette that was so outstanding, I didn't even put hot sauce on it (and I put hot sauce on everything!). While eating, I looked at the plates on other tables and planned my next three breakfasts. I've read complaints about the service here on Yelp. I found the service to be attentive. It's been a while since my first review, but I've visited a few times since. I always order my favorite dish, Loco Moco, and it's still the best! Their consistency in quality is something I really value -- and Goofy Cafe never disappoints. I've also tried the Mai Tai, which I like to try at nearly every restaurant just for a fun comparison. The presentation is beautiful, with grenadine settling at the bottom and creating pretty gradations of red, orange, and brown. As for the taste, it's refreshing and delicious. I personally prefer mine a bit stronger, but this version is actually perfect for early-hour sipping. ;p Last but not least, the service is always wonderful, and the cleanliness is just as impressive. Pros: -waitlist was helpful and the woman working the front was quick to get people tables as they opened. We waited only maybe 10 minutes. -cute spot inside, I liked the lounge-y music being played which created a nice ambiance -decent variety of breakfast items, although I wish there were slightly more savory options. -fresh orange juice was nice Cons: -no decaf coffee which my husband had hoped to have with breakfast -breakfast burrito was very disappointing. It was packed with a lot of food but kind of tasteless. There was a salsa on the side which helped a bit, but not much. I didn't finish it -biggest con: service was severely lacking. Once we got our food, no one checked on us once. We had to flag our waitress down to get the check. The table next to us sat for ~15 minutes before anyone came to take their order. The other table next to us had half their food come without the rest for ~10 minutes and had to ask about the other half. The table before them had to attempt to flag the same waitress down several times for their check. Everyone was kind and I know it's a more relaxed atmosphere but service could be an easy improvement. Very good cafe/diner! There can be a little wait in the morning but we were quickly led to the front area near the kitchen, which had a table (with separation) that fit two couples. This was not the best place to sit when it's really hot. Being in the front near the kitchen made us sweat. Other than that, it was excellent. Waiter was nice and attentive. Foos was excellent! Hubby had an egg skillet and he really liked it (but said it was a little bit oily due to the cheese). I got grilled corn fried rice (it has pork fyi) and it was delicious and came out hot.
