    Loco Moco
    Jessica G.

Having awesome experience at the Pearl City Liliha and in love with their butter mochi, we made a come back to the Waikiki one for the savory food. It was a nicer space that looked newer as well but the service was unfortunately super slow. We needed to call the servers for multiple times before our order was finally picked up and it took awhile before getting our food ready. Then we also weren't given the butter roll until we asked (deep frowned). Fortunately the Loco Moco made it up as it's so filling, the beef hamburg was juicy, and the gravy was well-seasoned with perfectly cooked sunny side up. The butter roll did earn it's spotlight being so fluffy and aromatic especially served warm and fresh!

Stopped for breakfast and grabbed some pastries to go for later. So many good breakfast items to choose from like chocolate chip Mac nut waffle, porky belly items, Mahi Mahi & eggs plate, etc. The butter rolls they bring before your meal are so delicious we ordered some to go! Food: - Smoked pork belly Loco moco - two eggs plate - one half papaya - Butter rolllllls to go for a charge so good

Liliha Bakery is on the top floor of the International Marketplace (gorgeous seating areas, feels like you're at the treetop level). The bakery is modern and very beautiful with an outdoor patio. We stopped by to take some pastries to go. Their cream puffs are popular so we tried both the green tea and coco puffs. The green tea cream puff was light and airy. The perfect mix of sweet cream with a hint of salt. The coco puff was a classic chocolate cream puff, but nothing that special. We also tried one of their mochi bites which was the perfect chewy texture. The one item that I wouldn't recommend was the lilikoi malasada. I'm not sure if we got an older malasada, but the breading tasted like a dry cake donut. The filling tasted nothing of lilikoi unfortunately. Wouldn't recommend as compared to other malasada spots in Waikiki. Overall would come again for the cream puffs and possibly to try one of their breakfast dishes.

The food was alright, I'd come back to try more pastries from their bakery. I enjoyed the plantation ice tea, that was really pleasant and refreshing. The staff were really friendly. As for the baked goods, I loved the poi donut and poi mochi.

Good place to eat at for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Has a decent amount of items to choose from on their menu. The coconut malasada was so good! It was soft and had a good amount of filing. I really enjoyed the Hawaiian BLT. It caught my eye on the menu because it had pineapple in the sandwich. I had to remove the sprouts because it was too much for me. The bread was like a croissant, but it wasn't flaky. It was soft and didn't get soggy. The Mahi Mahi plate was good too, not much to say about it. Wish the corn that came with it was crunchy! Our server was nice and friendly. The restaurant had patio and indoor eating. We chose to eat out on the patio because it made us feel like we were in a diner inside.

After our bakery hopping adventure, we stopped by Halekulani Bakery since we were still craving more pastries after only having two at our previous spot. The display looked very appealing, so we picked several items: Green Tea Croissant, Dubai Chocolate Croissant, Coconut Danish, Dubai Chocolate Coco Puff, and Guava Cream Cheese Strudel. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing. All of the pastries were overwhelmingly sweet to the point that it was difficult to taste the individual flavors. Everything had a similar sugary profile, which took away from what should have been distinct items. The texture and freshness were also lacking. The pastries were soft in a soggy way rather than light and flaky. They tasted like pre-made pastries you might find packaged at a grocery store rather than freshly baked. Overall, we did not enjoy the experience and ended up not finishing some of the items because they were too sweet. :(

Just for your reference, Jamie W and I went to the original Liliha Bakery in Kalihi for the very first time on our recent trip to Honolulu (review: https://yelp.to/2QcWi9AoBZ). We definitely gravitated to the old-school vibe of big local plates on that long counter, but what really drew us in were their signature Coco Puffs. Those were delicious, so much so that a couple of days later, we made a point of coming here. So it was no surprise this place has a far more tourist-centric vibe since it's one of several restaurants on the crowded third floor terrace of the International Market Place. Skipping the restaurant, we hovered in front of the bakery display case. We weakened and bought four $3.19 Coco Puffs to go (Photo 6). Delectable chocolate-filled cream puffs topped with chantilly frosting. Easily devoured. FOOD - 4 stars...it's about the puffs...don't judge us! AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...oh look, there's a dining room with tables and chairs SERVICE - 4 stars...they were quick TOTAL - 4 stars...did I mention the coco puffs? RELATED - Exploring Hawaii? Love Liliha Bakery! You can stop by the bakery to a variety of amazing pastries or get seated for a delicious sit down breakfast, lunch or dinner. The butterfish was delicious-perfectly cooked and seasoned. I loved their potato mac salad. The rice and corn complemented the meal well. The guava plantation iced tea was lightly sweetened. Breakfasts were also good here the portions were large; I couldn't finish everything on the plate. Stop by the bakery on the way out for some goodies for later!

We visited here very early breakfast and there wasn't a wait! This was maybe about 8AM and there were plenty of tables available. Most people were sitting outside in the patio. We had the rolls to start off with along with their signature jam? It was very nice! Most of us also ordered their signature loco moco, and a fried chicken plate, and mac nut waffles. The portions are pretty huge! It's very filling and I honestly was only able to eat half of it. The loco moco was very nice, although I wish the gravy was a bit more flavorful, but it was pretty decent overall. The fried chicken was also pretty nice, very crispy! It's a solid brunch place, very spacious. Pretty convenient spot on the strip.

This is one of my favorite breakfast spots in Honolulu! Their Loco Moco with fried rice is tasty and on point. Their burger patty is pretty thick with a nice charred taste. The garlic fried rice pairs beautifully with both the steak and gravy. Just pour some Tabasco for some extra heat and vinegar taste. My favorite though, is their Mac Nut Waffard!! The Mac nut waffle with creamy custard is a hit. These are unique and one of the best breakfast items I've ever had, hands down. The custard is house made, thick, creamy and rich. The best custard you'll taste. I want to go back just for this item alone. Don't forget their complimentary butter bread with guava jelly! These are buttery and fluffy. They have some crisp around the edges too with a nice sugary crystal bite. These are also unique and addictive. Be careful because you can get full with just these! We will definitely come back again!

We came as a large group of 16 people for brunch on our last day on the Island. A few days before my daughter and I stopped to buy some pastries to go and both times we went the place was packed! They serve complimentary bread while you wait for your orders and OMG that bread was to die for with their housemate jelly/spread. The Smoked pineapple pork belly I ordered had a bit of a kick but since the flavors were good I ate it all up. Their Mac salad is quite refreshing and the burger was extraordinary. My drink was the best! I could drink a whole pitcher of it in one sitting if it was bottomless refills! So refreshing and just the right amount of sweetness. I highly recommend coming here but come early as the lines get crazy. On the flip side, if you get hungry while you wait, you can always sample their pastries which are all pretty darn good as well.

NGL, I wasn't expecting to give this location a 5/5 just bc it's their new location on the strip and... iykyk with how these things normally go. BUT, yooo location, staff, good, vibes.. everything was gas. I was pleasantly surprised with how good the food was at this location. Their oxtail soup *chef's kiss* . Their prime rib, golllyyy. The guava iced tea itself was a bangahhh. Maybe I shoulda added some alc to that just to complete the meal but shoooot this dinner was 15/10 yall.

Still one of my favorite breakfasts in all of Hawaii. Stopped back into the Waiks location this morning for a double stack of pancakes and a Denver omelette. Honestly, these pancakes make me downright weepy. Liliha has perfected their batter. It's malty and sweet, and cooks up light and fluffy in the middle. And the gang on the grill know how to fire these things so the outer rim gets a nice little crust while the inside stays cakey. Coffee and water stayed full the whole time. And be sure to snoop the baked goods out front. Take home a sack of Liliha's world famous coco puffs!

Lisa, they will serve oxtail soup in the morning if they have it prepared. Sometime they're still cooking the batch of oxtail soup for the day, and they don't have any to serve at the moment.

Every morning, without fail, people gathered outside waiting patiently for pastries. No flashy signs. No gimmicks. Just quiet consistency. That alone intrigued me. By the second day, my mind was made up. I'm an early riser, so the plan was simple: go on my usual morning run and arrive before the rush. Japanese culture and craftsmanship have long fascinated me. Through close friends with family roots tracing back to Japan, I've developed a deep appreciation for the culture -- the discipline, the rituals, the precision, and the respect for process. There's a beauty in the intentional pace at which things are done. Nothing rushed. Nothing careless. This bakery embodied that philosophy perfectly. The space itself was small, modest, and aromatic. No overdesigned interiors. No influencer bait. Just the comforting smell of fresh bread and butter hanging in the air. Some bakeries hide behind elaborate architecture and presentation, but this place understood something more important: when the product is exceptional, the product becomes the attraction. The pastries ranged from playful and charming to elegant and refined. The Salt & Butter bread was an instant staple -- savory, warm, and impossibly light. The dough practically dissolved like air. Thankfully, nothing felt overly heavy, because I completely lost control of my ordering strategy. The Kobo Kuma -- a soft bear-shaped bun filled with homemade vanilla bean custard -- was perfection. Equal parts cute and comforting. The Cinnamon Roll was solid, but the Haupia pastry completely stole the show. For those unfamiliar, Haupia is a traditional Hawaiian coconut pudding found throughout Polynesia. The flavor here was subtle yet lingering, delicate without disappearing. The kind of flavor that quietly stays with you long after the last bite. Then came the Blueberry Danish -- beautiful, buttery, and perfectly sweet. I didn't even make it to the savory options this time, which honestly just gives me another reason to return. And I absolutely will -- whether back here in Hawaii or perhaps at one of their mainland locations in Los Angeles. Some places become popular because of hype. Others because of quality. This bakery earned its line.

I popped by Breadshop after a meeting and decided to pick up bread as gifts for some friends. Like…read morea traditional bakery, the breadshop operates on a time schedule. So please be sure to check their online website to see what products are available and to be mindful of their bakery schedule. Not all items are available when they open. On this day, I was able to purchase three full-size Furikake for culture loaves as well as two mushroom toast, and two watercress goat cheese danishes. The toast and danishes were tasty however, I was a little sticker, shocked by the prices. When considering volume and value, the focaccia loaves were approximately $12 each, whereas each pastry was close to $7- $10 each. Were the pastries delicious? Absolutely! Do I have the financial means to continuously treat myself to these pastries? That's a question for another day. My friends enjoyed the furikake loaves of bread (although messy) and I plan on gifting bread in the near future for whoever I run into. I would likely order a different type of bread next time as the focaccia became oily and some of that oil seeped through the paper bags. Parking is shared with the café and you can also park up the street, on the street. They take credit card and cash as well as advanced orders on their website.
