Ask the Community - Googie Grill

Do they offer gluten-free pancakes or gluten-free waffles for breakfast?

Unfortunately not at this time… we do offer gluten free bread that we can use to make French toast…

Do they have outdoor seating so I can bring my dog?

They have outdoor seating and I think it's ok to bring your dog but to be sure, do call and ask. I know at least one restaurant with outdoor seating that don't allow dogs.

Does Googie Grill have a Wait List policy?

Yes, they allow your dog and even have a menu for it. The waitress served my dog with water at the same time she brought the drinks. There are outdoor heaters if it's chilly.

Check-in was easy and prompt. It was quite busy for a Friday check-in but there were 5-6 workers checking people in so it went pretty fast. They were providing water bottles to those who were waiting, and also let people know that there were s'more kits to use at the outside fireplace facing the golf course. You may have to drive to where your room is as there are various buildings in the hotel, so perhaps wait to get your luggage out of your car until after check-in. There looked to be quite a few kids at the property as well as they had some ping pong tables and life size chess available near the main building. The room itself was really spacious and clean. Nothing was really wrong in the room. Perhaps the AC wasn't the best (maybe we were using it wrong), but there is a fan right above the bed which was VERY cool/strong once turned on. WiFi was a bit spotty throughout the stay. TV in the room had Google cast which was nice.

We had the option of indoor or outdoor dining. Based on previous yelp photos I decided to try the Cappuccino and I am glad I did. Made with LavAzza coffee I felt like I was in Italy again. My husband and I decided to share the combo plate. Scrambled eggs, potatoes, chicken sausage and a homemade biscuit. The salsa that it comes with is amazing so don't skip it. The portion was large and plenty for two people. The food was fresh, and flavorful. While the food was great, I think what makes this an amazing spot is the team. Each person was attentive, very friendly and made sure everyone had what they needed. I think we discovered a new spot and plan to be back. Oh and I love that they have a sign out front about providing a sandwich even if you can't afford one.

The meat was in cubes with veggies & a white sauce. Given that information, it had no flavor. The sauce was watery & barely added anything to the dish. Similarly, the chicken pot pie was incredibly creamy with not enough seasoning to balance it out. -Service/Staff: Despite being sat by the entryway, staff barely checked in on us to see if we needed anything. On multiple occasions, they checked on other groups around us, but not us. This was slightly upsetting as we felt invisible. -Overall: This place was just average. Nothing was particularly stand out about the food & the staff wasn't attentive during our visit. We were hopeful as it had great reviews.

There's ample parking in the plaza, so it should not be a concern. We went on a weekday morning, so it wasn't crowded but the looking at how at the familiarity between the staff and some of the customers, it seemed like a local favorite. The staff was very sweet, and place seemed very chirpy, the place reminded of a good old diner. All the staff was very sweet. We got the Quintals omelette, and it was my first time trying refried beans in an omelette and it was definitely something we'd try again. We also got French toast with fresh fruits and it was delicious too.

It was a busy morning,…read moreand while the staff was genuinely friendly throughout our visit, the service coordination and overall meal quality were a bit hit-or-miss. The Experience & Service: There was some noticeable confusion when our meals were served. A food runner brought out my husband's plate first, then turned to me and asked if I had ordered anything. When I told her I ordered the Crab Cake Benedict, she asked if our server had mentioned they were out of it and if I had picked a replacement. He hadn't told me anything of the sort. A few minutes later, our server came by to reassure me my food would be out shortly, bringing a small bowl of fruit to tide me over. My plate did eventually arrive, but the miscommunication up front was a bit awkward. The Food: Crab Cake Benedict: Unfortunately, the dish was just okay. The crab cake itself tasted like a pre-breaded, frozen patty rather than freshly made. Smothered under the poached eggs and hollandaise sauce, it was fine, but nothing special. Omelet & Home Fries: My husband really enjoyed his omelet. However, his side of home fries was a letdown--they weren't cooked through properly and had an off-taste of old fryer oil. Final Verdict: The staff is nice and trying hard during a busy rush, but given the service hiccups and average food execution, I'm not sure we would return if we're in the area again.

As soon as you walk in, you feel welcomed. We chose to sit outside, and the staff was incredibly kind and attentive throughout our visit. I started with a vanilla latte, and it was perfect--the right amount of foam, not overly sweet, and just delicious. Now for the food! The tres leches French toast was unlike any French toast we've had before. We also tried the mollete, huevos rancheros, and chilaquiles verdes with chorizo. Everything was packed with flavor, and there wasn't a single dish we didn't enjoy. El Bistro by the Sea was such a great find, and we will definitely be back. We brought our dog along and our server was so kind, bringing a bowl of water for our pup and even offering dog patties or scrambled eggs. We got the chilaquiles and the hash skillet - both were huge in portion and really good. We also shared a french toast for dessert (pro tip: you can get a half-order instead of the full thing) - we tried the dulce de leche and fresas con crema ones that were definitely on the sweeter side but also tasted the exact same from each other. Coffee and matcha were also great - they have a VERY large drink menu. The one down side was that they sat us directly in the sun on the side instead of the back patio, despite seeing us struggle, sweat, and hold up menus to block the sun.

My husband wasn't a fan of the grilled chicken, but everyone else's meals were delicious. The potatoes were perfectly cooked, the eggs were great, and the thick-cut toast was fresh and so tasty. The bread seemed house made and had the perfect crunch, the tuna was the show, clearly fresh with not too much mayo. Had a little dill, celery and some tomato. Very nice indeed. Even the onion rings were above average. I certainly will recommend and return
