I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience has been so frustrating that I feel obligated to warn others. Google Fiber installed a temporary fiber line at my home on May 23, and the router and equipment were installed inside my house on May 27. From that point forward, communication completely stopped. No one explained when the temporary line would be removed, when the permanent line would be buried, or that the installation process would leave my yard torn up. The temporary fiber line has remained stretched across my entire front yard, including my sidewalk and driveway, creating a serious tripping hazard for my family, especially my son. Since the installation, I have called customer support at least ten times and spoken with multiple supervisors. Every time I was told the issue was being "escalated," but nothing ever happened. Weeks later, the hazardous line was still there, and I still had no timeline or meaningful updates. I've worked in customer support for over 11 years, and this has been one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. The lack of communication, accountability, and empathy from Google's support team has been shocking. One supervisor even told me she had to end the call because company policy required calls to end after an hour--even though my issue remained unresolved. The service itself may be good, but when something goes wrong, the customer support has been completely unacceptable. A company should not leave customers chasing answers for weeks while a known safety hazard remains on their property. If you're considering Google Fiber, I hope your installation goes smoothly because if it doesn't, don't expect timely communication or effective support. Has anyone had difficulty with Google fiber installation? They came last week to do the connection from the box to the house which was flawless. Today we got to meet two installers that did not look very professional or sound informed. They went up into the attic three maybe four times and then finally told us we would need a contractor to run the internal wire because they couldn't guarantee when they started drilling holes in the ceiling where it would come out. Our house is one story and it should be a straight shot to the area where the other stuff has been located. Needless to say we stopped them at that point. The installation should be simple as we have had Spectrum ,AT&T, and ADT all do installs in the same area without issues. I looked up online and saw that the subcontracting used for Google installation had issues. They mentioned my concern specifically as well as others. We have a call in to speak with a supervisor or team lead and open for any suggestions at this point. read more

On January 2026, Google Workspace was added to the Business Phone and I did not have knowledge of this until I checked the bank transactions. The ABC Bank decided they will charge $30 for all stop payment so that's a price increase this April. 2026. There $2K minimum Business Account balance in effect and $12 will be charge for any lower amount in the account, so it's my life lesson now. Business Phone from Google is not available for 78701 zip code on 3rd St. Downtown, Austin, TX. One Agent told me Business phone is available but lied, phone with GFiber is only for Residential/home phone that I know of in April 2026. After porting the business phone number that took 15 days they told me Business phone was not available so use GVoice (thanks Abe?) and it was free to link to your cellphone. They charge me for Workspace for two months: March and April after I cancelled GFiber internet with them on 2/27/2026. There is no phone number to call for Google Workspace, and I can only chat with GFiber customer service Live agent named Oscar. The phone number (855) 418-8326 is for GFiber. There is no live support personnel or phone number for Workspace Billing Support to get reimbursement for March and April Standard Tier ( that I did not sign up for but was billed for $12.62 after $14+ in February). Do not do business with GFiber. They are the most incompetent company I have ever had the misfortune to come across, and I come from construction, so that is saying a lot. Let me tell you the story. It's a long one. I have had Google Fiber for years at my previous 2 residences and never had a reason to complain. I moved into my new place April 2025 and setup an appointment to have the service moved before I moved in. The morning of my appointment, Google called to tell me that the outside drop to my house has not been completed and needed to cancel my appointment until it can be complete. Fine, no problem, there probably just behind. So this turned into weeks of nothing happening with me calling every week and no one being able to tell me what was going on. This is the first problem that you absolutely need to understand before deciding on GFiber. GFiber farms out there outside work and they have ZERO control over it. They don't even play pretend to. It's extremely childish that they just pawn off all responsibility for that service, even though GFiber is the one you are doing business with. So when you sign up for their service you are actually agreeing to do business with some unknown 3rd party that no one has any control over. So after several calls and several "escalations" to the "construction team" over the course of a several weeks with no clarification, someone from their vendor finally responded that 3 would get to it sometime in 3 months. Obviously this was unacceptable, not just the time line, but I had to call in again to find out. So here is the second thing you need to understand about how GFiber does business. Everyone at their customer service department is just a phone monkey. No one has any control over anything. All they can do is read of a screen and document. Documentation that no one will read or follow up on. So, I canceled and went with a different provider. A month later someone from their "construction team" showed up to install the outside line. I told them I already went with a different service, I canceled my install, and they have no business being at my home. Kick rocks. Fast forward to Feb 2026. A GFiber salesman showed up at my door trying to get me to switch over. Okay fine, I'll give another shot. I have google everything, and was a bit upset that I couldn't get the internet service I had before. So I tried again. They set me up with an appointment on Feb 20th, two weeks later. He also gave me his cell phone number in case I had any issues, purely useless. The 20th came, the tech showed up, no one had ever come to install the outside line to my house. He put in a work order and dipped out. Over the next 4 MONTHS, no one ever showed up to install the outside line to my house. I called every week, got the runaround and lied to by the phone monkeys that you connect to at customer service. Phone or chat, doesn't matter. Don't even bother emailing, the company won't even respond to that. And if customer service ever tells you they are "escalating" your issue, don't bother. I fairly certain "escalate' means ignore. Another thing you have to understand about Gfiber is that they are not a true service provider. They are not bound by the same laws of universal access that other providers have to follow. Typically, anyone who does business as service provider has to provide access to everyone in the region. Thy have to have provisions by law to b able to hookup anyone in the geographical area that wants the service, even if no one is utilizing it. GFiber has somehow skirted this requirement. If they don't want to provide service to you, they can just not do it. In my dealings with them it has become apparent that if everything does not go according the very specific script that each role at the company is given, then the problem just gets ignored hoping you will go away. They have no legal requirement to provide service to you, and if it gets hard, they'll just punt and ignore it. That's their playbook. So, I setup an appointment, because that is what the customer service agent kept trying to do every time I called. I literally had to slow walk each agent through the issue every time. Each one had to put me on hold to "talk to their team" and came back with a new lie that never turned out to be true. So, I finally just let them setup an appointment for June 19th. The tech showed up, I let him know right up front that the install wasn't going to happen and explained the situation to him. Exactly on brand, he tried to punt and bounce. I strong-armed him into helping me out and he called his supervisor. It turns out after the 4 MONTHS of calling and calling after service was already supposed to be installed, no one had ever put in a work order to have the drop installed. Talk about incompetent. Two days later, June 21st, Sunday no less. The drop to my house finally got installed. It's now July 10th, and the drop still has not been buried and I have been lied to multiple times. read more

For what we pay, the service is disappointing. Our internet constantly goes down, and the speeds are often much slower than advertised. I am an employee of an apartment complex who was offered complimentary wifi. I transferred and they failed to transfer my complimentary account and freely gave it to the resident who moved in to my old apt. I have since been charged and they wont work with me to fix it. Customer service gives me the run around including my property manager. She can't even get ahold of our sales representative for the property. 1 star review due to prolonged Google Fiber internet outage at my residence . My Google Fiber service has been completely down for more than three (3) consecutive days. I have contacted Google Fiber support multiple times but the issue remains unresolved. All requested troubleshooting steps have already been completed. Google Fiber has informed me that they cannot dispatch a technician for another 3 days, leaving my household without internet service for an extended and unreasonable period of time. This outage is causing serious harm because: * I rely on internet access to perform my job * All household streaming services are unusable * My home security cameras are offline, creating a safety and security concern Despite reporting the issue promptly and requesting escalation, I have not been provided with a clear explanation for the outage or any reasonable interim solution. I am on the board of my HOA and not only are the contractors that work to install fiber are horrendous and do not care but Google themselves and the fiber team has done next to nothing to help resolve. First, the work was delayed a ton and took forever to finish and now our irrigation system hasn't been working for months. The contractor themselves have been terrible at communicating and not quick to respond. I have reached out to Google as well to complain for their service team to tell me someone will contact me. I have followed up multiple times as that contact has not been made and it has been days. I am not going to lecture some of the haters on here, but they obviously don't know a good thing when they have it. Yes, install can be cumbersome and painful, but as one other yelper mentioned, you just need to insist. This is exactly what my wife did, since I was not there for the installations. I won't go into details, but after a couple visits it was installed. My wife and I signed up for the basic Google fiber of 1Gig - Up to 1000 Mbps upload and download speeds for only $70/month. This included a WiFi router and WiFi extender with zero monthly lease fees, and free install. This is a HUGGGGE! deal. The internet is smoking fast. Everything loads up lickity split, and no more waiting to download videos, happens in an instant. And zero problems or slow downs. I've had all of the other ISP, and they can't touch this. We've had it now for over four months with zero issues, reboots, slowdowns, or shutdowns. We have two laptops, four phones and two IPads all connected to the WiFi and they are all smoking fast. The speed test I show is on my laptop all the way on the other side of the house over 1000 feet from the router and still insane speeds. My only wish is we had Google fiber in downtown Albany NY. I'll keep wishing, since Worthless Spectrum has a monopoly in that area due to the corrupt previous state leadership that struck a deal for free internet for all law makers downtown and in NY city, in exchange for no other ISP moving into downtown Albany. Bunch of crooks. I recommend Google fiber for anyone who can get it. If you are thinking about Google Fiber, READ THIS FIRST. My Google Fiber has been down for 12 days - no internet, or wifi, meaning no TV, email, Alexa or even my robot vacuum cleaner. Two techs have been here replaced all my equipment: fiber wall jack and routers. Both techs and Google fiber support say it's in their system, now in my home or the fiber cable coming to my home, Ij've had three different incident priority numbers, the last being "high priority." I have had more than three "it'll be fixed within 24 hours" and never heard back nor was the system restored. Support call in has even given me a discount for poor service. Nightmare. Shamefully bad team. DO NOT DO IT. When I first signed up with GFiber it took their support team a month or two and dozens of calls and dozens of messages from myself for me to get the internet up and running. They needed to send out a Technician. They first Technician didn't know what to do. Had to start the process over again. Second Technician got it working but it took dozens more phones calls to try to organize someone coming to help. Reason is they don't keep track of their case numbers when you have an issue. The amount of times I had to repeat my problems with the wifi with a different person on the phone was exhausting. And mind you, I had to keep calling back because no progress was even made. And when they did show up, it is clear the person on the phone did not communicate the issue to the technician because that technician would seem clueless and "didn't bring the part" and I had to start the phone calls all over again. This goes on and on. But yes it eventually worked for a handful of months. Some months later my router stops working and I have to start upon this kind of process again with their support team. It is even worse. Seems they may have even run the good staff away. The phones calls we worse. The techs were worse. No progress is made in getting my internet back up as I am paying for their services every month. I eventually decide it is best to tryyy to delete my account because I'm tired of paying for services that don't even work, anddd no one is helping me with it. Gfiber came to the house at 9:45 for my 4:00 appt., I thought wow they're early. Then THEY called ME and said my gate was locked even though the guy had just rung my doorbell and asked where the gate was. The gate does not lock and I was home. Then THEY said my installation would be next. Hours later I called and THEY would see if someone was still in the area and would call me before THEY showed up. When I did not get the call, I called them back for a third time to see what was going on and they said my appt was for the 19 even though at 9:45 on the 12th, I was to be next. Then, THEY emailed me, knowing that I don't have any internet, and said someone would be doing the outside installation on the 13, still leaving me without internet service. I was leaving Astound for poor service and now I can't even get Google to install my service correctly. Will see if Spectrum can do better. THEY called me back today and said that they are working on the outside and should be able to do the inside tomorrow or before the 19th. read more

Please note Google Fiber is doing construction in my neighborhood. We don't have it yet. I would give negative stars if I could. I am not normally one to complain, but this needs to be said. Be advised the Google Fiber contractor is an a$$hole. They were digging about a foot from our shared waterline. I nicely asked why they were digging there, because their orange marker was on the other side of my lot. Of course nobody spoke English. So I called the MUD to have them come look to ensure the two homes on this line didn't loose water. The MUD was great and immediately sent Marino to make sure the lines were not compromised. When I came home I saw what the contractor did in retribution. They had shoveled up every bit of loose street gravel for the block and leaves on the street. Then they dumped a 15 foot plus section of my recently planted flowerbed a foot deep with this trash, smothering and damaging my plants. They put more road gravel into my lawn where it will damage my mower and be harmful projectiles when I mow. I was going to switch to G-Fiber, but no more. Malicious behavior like this is unacceptable. Yes I have contacted Google Fiber with my complaint. Thus far I have spent over 12 hours digging the debris out of my flower bed and will have to buy new plants as 75% was destroyed. Beware of the Google Fiber contractors. Technician came out to install our Google Fiber. Unfriendly from the start, everything was a problem - couldn't find the correct conduit, couldn't find conduit in attic, couldn't do this, couldn't do that. Attitude on top of it, rude, and most unprofessional person I've met in the industry. That's a lot to say, given 15 ISPs in 4 states over the years. Then suddenly, the guy just upped and left. He cut our existing internet line, left it taped to the fiber line, and left. Called Google Fiber and "they'll try to get somebody out in the next few weeks". Wow! I requested replacing my 500M AT&T service with Google Fiber. This was without a doubt the. worst install experience I have ever had. We had at least seven tech install visits and two network visits between Wednesday (aWeek after the first NIU) visit) through Monday when we finally got the network temporarily working. Representatives lied about status and mis-scheduled appointments, techs were unaware of status and the network people did not even know what NIU to enable. On Thursday, the network techs managed to cut our existing AT&T connection and support said we could call AT&T to pay them to fix the internet we were abut to cancel. Furthermore the last tech left several pieces of equipment here that Google Fiber now tells me I am responsible for returning and google sent me email saying I will owe $120 each for two Nest devices iINever wanted and didn't ask for. Even better, neither this return demand in nor the technician who left them behind told us how to return them. Finally, to add insult to injury, after nearly 6 hours of working, the network became intermittent and has been unreliable all day. Time lost: hours for four people at our house and my son who is away at college. Three days of lost or intermittent work (so far) and a plentitude of reps and techs who were very we were sorry I was without internet for four days but wholly unable to accomplish anything. Humorously enough I also received my first bill for $40.16. Overall: total failure. Value less than zero so far. read more

I find it difficult to believe all of the bad reviews on here, although I know everyone has different experiences. I was very excited years ago when Google Fiber started micro-trenching our street (years later I ended up having to have my sprinkler repaired. It was my fault for not checking when they fixed it the year before.) I had AT&T at the time and was paying over $75 for 50mbps (and much slower WiFi). We switched and loved Fiber and Google Cable (no longer offered). When they raised cable 10% a year later I switched to Spectrum for a few years. I moved back to Google Fiber about 3-4 years ago. The mesh system they offered covered the house a lot better than the first non-mesh system they'd given us. Today I had them come out and upgrade us to WiFi 6. It's still a mesh system (new pucks) but both pucks cover more and seem to have a stronger signal. The terrific Service Technician, Daniel Cruz, checked everything, took his time explaining a few things to me and was generally a pleasure to have work in our home. I can't say enough about Google Fiber. They're far and away the best ISP I've ever used. And unlike the cable companies that offer internet, they don't keep raising their prices twice a year. read more

Internet connection went out Thursday night. After calling customer service on Friday, then sent out a technician on Saturday morning. The tech couldn't fix the issue and said it was something outside the house cause all the equipment inside the house was working. Said another technician would come later that day to fix the issue. Waited from 10am until 6pm, wasted the whole day waiting for a technician that never showed up. Finally called them back after 6pm, irate that I've wasted the whole day waiting for someone that never showed up, they apologized profusely and said a technician would be out in 45 minutes. It's now past 10:30pm and haven't seen anyone from Google Fiber to fix the issue. I'm hoping Spectrum Cable or AT&T have better customer service. Don't rely on GFiber to come fix their stuff in a prompt manner in the Kansas City area or Johnson County. Not having internet doesn't bother me, wasting my whole day waiting for someone that doesn't show up does. If you get GFiber, pray it doesn't break cause they aren't coming to fix it in a timely manner. read more

FIVE FREAKING STARS. I guess people only speak up when they have something to complain about, so here's an antidote to that. I've had Google Fiber for 6 years and at 2 addresses. I not only have no complaints, but have seen their technicians go above and beyond to ensure service is maintained. One of the only 3 times in 6 years that I experienced a service issue they worked until nearly midnight to fix a problem cause by another company. i got google fiber installed and i had to use the google fiber app to get everything activated. it said i had to go to voice.google.com to activate the phone. i went there and it said it needed my id just to use the phone. i told the tech that i didnt want to show my id to use my phone and he said i didnt have to he could install it without it. after the install the phone didnt work so i called google fiber over and over again to get it fixed. each time google fiber ended up saying i did not need my id to activate the phone and that they could fix it. i had it escalated and talked to supervisors and i was always told that they are working on it. they sent another tech and replaced the phone box and it still didnt work. upon my repeated requests google sent me an email specifically stating that i dont need my id to use my phone. then they got 'ace' supervisors on it and i think that those are their highest level supervisors. then finally after almost a month of this they had a supervisor call me back and said that after all of this i needed my id to use the phone. i wasted all of this time and effort to be betrayed by them. these companies are too big and need to be broken up. read more

This company has lost all credibility with me. I do not have GFiber service, and never will. They came to my subdivision, dug up our yards causing water main breaks and gas line leaks- I was awakened at 1am by a an army of first responders and my neighbors being evacuated due to a gas line break- then covered up their digging mess with cheap straw that had wheat grass in it. Now all our yards have a wheat grass problem that we can't get rid of- just where they dug. One of the water main breaks was at my house. I have tried for months to get restitution from this company, but they have passed the documentation about the leak, the ensuing water bills and necessary plumbing fix from department to department, each saying "I don't think this bill belongs to us". Typical runaround by an out-of-touch, out-of-reach horrible, greedy company. There seems to be a lot of one-star reviews about the service here as well. Good. Wow, it looks like the one star review is standard for GFiber. The lack of customer service, communication, and service completion is a huge problem. Nearly two months ago, I initiated a service request with GFiber for internet and phone service. This was to be installed on June 3rd, as of today, the phone service is still not working because for some reason the third part vendor that GFiber uses for porting numbers can't seem to do their job. Despite having to reactivate my Spectrum account and now having to pay Spectrum for two months of service that I'm not using GFiber still can't get the phone number ported for me. I have tried escalating this issue to their executive team and I did have one call from a representative of their social media group and now they are just ignoring the issues and there is no resolution. It's interesting that I could cancel my service with GFiber with the push of a button on their end, but to start service it takes two months. I find it incredibly disheartening that there are so many one star reviews of GFiber. That tells me that clearly I'm not the only one with problems and that GFiber obviously doesn't care. To the person that says you just have to insist...... that doesn't work with GFiber either. They simply don't care and their customers aren't important enough to get things resolved. All in all- Google has been to my house 5 times to complete the Fiber installation. This includes underground line and all that. Today my internet went out at 9am. Technician is coming out soon to hopefully fix (make that 6). I never thought getting internet would be this complicated. Better be worth it in long run. read more

Absolutely Abysmal Service! Outages in my area would last days l. after one outage my box was broken and I was told the next appointment was over a week away. I couldn't wait that long as I work from home. There was zero understanding, empathy or support. after days of calling back to try for an appointment and receiving fake apologies and zero help, I had to cancel and set up a new provider so I could continue to work. read more

Had to take off work for installation a week ago. Now having to keep having someone to stay here and wait for contractors. Apparently there's a bunch of outsourced contractors that do only one t hing then send next person out which you have to call to get done yourself on the phone for hours. Because they dont call the next person customers have to. so far .4 contractors and one week later and still not completed. Had Appointment for 5 today (week and 2 days later) Sunday. ###! they canceled until some time in January. ----seriously-----' Then they called to ask how we like it. Said dont know no one ever finished job they hung up. HORRIBLE service. I can't believe they want customers but start off getting here fast TO START JOB BUT CANT COMPLETE THE JOB The next contractor then blame the one before them. Spectrum at least installed in one day.day.but they keep raising prices continuously. So what's up with Google?? !!!!!Quit advertising when you can't provide service. !!! read more

Absolute hell with Google Fiber. Stay far away unless you want disconnection every hour.

Very professional good communication from start to Finish. My installation requires lot of works but it went so well. The internet service is fast and stable . read more
