Upon setting foot inside, the employee at the counter was super welcoming and friendly. She held my flowers for me at the front while I looked around. We are having a friend over for dinner this week who we have not seen in over a year, so we wanted to make it extra nice. This is a PERFECT place to stop for a host/hostess/housewarming gift, FYI. There is local honey, wine, meats, tamales, cheese, fresh pasta they make themselves, pantry items and canned goods like St. Jude's tuna. Plus Sweet Alchemy ice cream! I grabbed a jar of pickled asparagus and had to resist buying some really tempting dip they make in-house. As I was checking out, the staff person mentioned that the Tall Grass baked goods in the case were free because they were two days old and would be replaced the next morning by a fresh batch. So nice! I brought home a savory spinach breakfast item with me, which my partner greatly appreciated. Hint: Make sure you have cash on hand for a tip! They can't include tips on card purchases.

We've met Michela (business owner) and her charming mother when Michela was a guest at Tom Douglas's Hot Stove Society weekly show. They are very nice and warm people and we love to support small businesses. Today we bought some of the most delicious freshly made pasta I've had since I've made my own. This is a bargain at $10 for a clamshell of yummy goodness. Also for purchase is her famous lasagna in the cooler packed in ready to warm up servings and also her homemade sauce. The staff we interacted with was super nice and described the pasta options available. We also noticed Michela's two books she wrote on display at the counter. I like the one with common sayings and their Italian meanings. Interesting subject. We cooked the pasta at home with some vodka/rosa sauce and it was delectable. Especially when paired with some nice wine. Give this woman-owned business a try when you can. You'll be happy you did.

The noodles had the perfect texture, and although the sauce was just a simple tomato sauce, it was incredibly flavorful, fresh, and comforting. It really proves that you don't need a long list of ingredients to create an amazing dish when everything is made with quality and care. We ordered for pickup, and our food was ready in about 10 minutes, which was a nice bonus. Finding the restaurant was easy--it's tucked inside the Atrium building at Pike Place Market. Just walk south past the famous fish market, and you'll see the Atrium entrance. It's a bit of a hidden gem, but it's definitely worth seeking out. I'd definitely come back just for this pasta!

Okay, holy shit, I had to RUN and write this review after getting spinach pappardelle and pomodoro…read moresauce from Pasteria Lucchese at the Ballard Farmer's Market. I'm an Italian from New York. I lived there for 22 years. When I tell you I haven't had good Italian food since I moved to Washington 5 years ago (yes, I even disliked The Pink Door), I mean it. And when I say this is the BEST pasta and sauce I stumbled across today, I MEAN IT. I feared writing this review would cause the pasta to sell out faster. I went around 12:30 today and most of the pasta was already sold out (I believe they open at 9 am). I guess I'll be waking up earlier to beat everyone there for the rest of my life. YOU MUST GO HERE.

Pasteria Lucchese has ruined boxed pastas for me!…read more You can find their booth at Ballard's farmers market. I finally noticed their booth while roaming around the market during a snow day, which resulted in a uncrowded market. Anyways, the man running the booth was so easy to chat with. I ended up purchasing their saffron tagliatelle and beet and goat cheese ravioli since he sold me on how to prepare those pastas. He even gave me his business card and told me to not hesitate to call if I had any further questions while cooking. You can't beat service like that! Later that night, I followed his suggestions on how to prepare those pastas: Saffron tagliatelle with shallots, onions, crab meat and a little cream. Beet and goat cheese ravioli with caramelized onions. We ended up adding a little bit of cream to it. I was blown away with both dishes. Both pastas had the perfect texture and flavors were amazing. The saffron pasta had a nice creamy taste while the ravioli tasted earthy and mildly sweet. Best of all, these were quick to prepare, and there's no need to thaw the pastas either. While it takes 3-4 min to boil the pastas, the total cooking time was under 15 min. Next Sunday I'll be returning to stock up on those pastas for those nights I need a quick meal.

The man behind the counter was extremely friendly and helped us navigate the (what turns out to be extremely simple) ordering process: you pick your sauce, you pick your pasta, choose whether you want a side or a drink, and that's it. I went with the short rib ragu along with a piece of focaccia, my son chose the bolognese with spaghetti. He enjoyed his very much (and took half of it home). I rate my short rib ragu as "ok", the fresh made pasta was fantastic, and the focaccia was what I needed to totally clean my plate. I'm excited to return and try other pasta/sauce combos. I was also tempted by the lasagna, so that's on my future wish list as well.
