We frequent the GC as we like to call it. I have NEVER had a bad experience. We have gone on pasta nights, lunch, dinners, and just for dessert. All desserts are made on site and OMG tasty all the time. The Prime Rib on Valentine's day was amazing. The meatballs are fabulous. The Chricken Parm is great. The soups are always tasty. Second trip for All You Can Eat Pasta night. It was busy on a Friday night but we had reserved a table and we're immediately seated. Beer and wine as well as a selection of soft drinks were served. There are several selections on the menu but we were there for the Pasta Bar. It's fascinating to watch a seasoned chef prepare your entree right before your eyes. A dozen veggies, six proteins any sauce including a flaming vodka cream and several pasta choices including gluten-free. Salad and garlic bread included. A very enjoyable experience. read more

This is not my first visit to the Gourmet Cafe, but my husband and I wanted to give it another try since the Family Style menu is no longer done. Our waitress Courtney was great. The home made dressing for both of our salads were equally delicious, Russian for him parmeasan pepper for me. He got chicken parm even though it was lunch, the chef made it for him, which was really nice of them to do.I had Alfredo but the rustic white bread MADE the meal for me. I am a bread fiend and will go back to a place solely for bread delicious-Ness. We had planned on coming in for the Pasta bar but were about an hour too early for it, we will have to go back again and time it for dinner rather than lunch! read more

The Gourmet Cafe is located in the center of downtown Glens Falls. Along with wonderful outside seating, the food is tasty and the service was excellent. I had the classic vegetarian wrap with an excellent tarragon mayo. The marinated red peppers and sprouts really elevated the sandwich beyond your standard vegetarian wrap. My husband had the spinach artichoke panini which was also very tasty. The potato salad was pretty forgettable. The menu is also a little long for my taste. To sum up, tasty food at a good price that could benefit from a pared down menu. read more

Gourmet Cafe is excellent, especially with their pasta nights. There aren't many vegan options on the menu but the staff is extremely knowledgable and able to help. I go here mainly for their pasta, the mix and match style pasta they have is wonderful and if you're there the right days for the pasta bar it's excellent. We eat here probably once or twice a month. I became gluten free and was pleased to find out that they will make gluten free pasta- just call ahead and make a reservation (even if it's only 30 min ahead of time) and let them know you are gluten free. The pasta nights are my favorite. Though at our most recent visit we had made reservations for 7, with two being gluten free. The two GF ordered the unlimited pasta bar and by the time we went up for round two they only had enough GF pasta left for one. That was disappointing considering what we paid for an were expecting. I think next time I will just make a point to say that we plan on ordering the unlimited pasta bar. I wasn't super excited about the move to family style- as my husband (or a friend, etc...) and I don't always want the same thing...and many times I'm the only GF person. The garlic bread and spinach artichoke dip are both AMAZING!!! Brian is a great waiter, other waitstaff is good too....we just haven't had them as frequently. read more

Great gluten free choices! I live locally and have eaten at many casual dining venues that offer a "gluten-free" menu, but this is by far the best! Their gluten-free menu is real food, great quality, not just the weak attempt most restaurants make to cater to gluten free. I had the Cafe Burger on gluten-free Rosemary Foccacia. For dessert, I had gluten-free cheesecake with caramel topping and a REAL "graham cracker" crust. Anyone who's gluten-free knows how hard that is to find! The portions were generous on all the plates, and the deserts were out of this world yummy. The waitress was knowledgeable and patient about needing gluten-free choices. She also handled separate checks for 5 of us with grace and competence. Was there for a girls afternoon out with my family, and it was the perfect setting. We bought a bottle of wine with our meal, and sat for hours eating and gabbing. Will definitely be back! read more

I've been here twice with my fiance, it's a cute little restaurant on the main strip in Glens Falls. They have a range of different foods-- I'm partial to their turkey club sandwich, and they've got a great potato salad! My fiance loves their seafood pasta dish. I think the inside could use a little updating for the look, but the staff is very friendly & i would recommend Gourmet Cafe to anyone who is looking for a place to eat in the area :) read more

Went here recently and had the margarita pizza which was very good. It was a Saturday afternoon between lunch and dinner and the place only had a few other people there, but the waitress was super-friendly and attentive. I think it's the same waitress that has been there when I was there for dinner once or twice as well. My friend and I stopped by their table during "Take a Bite" this summer and the young people staffing the table were very friendly and they even let us sit inside for awhile as we had our snack. Friendly, good food, reasonable prices, convenient location, what more can you ask for? They were also very generous with a donation for a non-profit organization I am involved with, so that's even better! read more

Recently ate at gourmet cafe during pasta night... Chef has numerous burners going at the same time which results in a very smokey atmosphere after a short time...would suggest a smoke eater or some kind of ventilation system out ii the interior or the restaurant. Also recent addition of "family" menu has resulted in quite expensive entries discouraging our continued patronage what with many other dining choices close by... Cute little cafe offering different types of gourmet salads, sandwiches, and pasta dishes. I was excited to give this a second chance and try something new. I thought maybe I had just ordered the wrong thing the first time. I ordered the bow tie chicken pasta. The pasta had a great flavor, but the chicken was not edible. It was dark, hard and gummy with a strange taste. I immediately spit out the chicken. I had my husband try it, and he did the same. I showed and shared this with our server who went to the cook. They came back saying that nothing was wrong with it and everything is made fresh??? Clearly, by looking at the 20 pieces of chicken I pushed to the side, you could see something didn't look right just by the texture and color. They offered us a free dessert. We passed. Maybe it was just the cook on shift or chicken from the night before. Not sure, but was not worth the $17.99 I was charged for the meal at lunch. Disappointing. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants. My family enjoys the Friday night pasta night quite often. On Friday nights Chef Francis mans the all you can eat pasta station. With this you get garlic bred and soup or salad, all for under $20. As you make your way down the table, he asks you which ingredients you'd like to add to your dish. You have a choice of several meats and seafoods including homemade chicken sausage and meatballs. Then you have a choice of many different vegetables. The next step is to choose a sauce. He has a few ready made sauces and can make around 40 others to order. This is all done in front of you in a matter of minutes. Then you chose from an array of pastas. It is completely customizable, and you can go back to try as many different dishes as you can eat. I've tried several different dishes from tomato Marsala cream sauce to southwestern cream sauce and many others. I have never had anything I didn't love. Chef Francis can really help you find the perfect dish for you with a few easy questions. He's very helpful and friendly and so is the rest of the staff. The restaurant is always clean and inviting. The ingredients are fresh and the food is epic! This is one of my favorite places to go. read more

Pasta night is by far the best night in this small restaurant. So many options for the pasta, toppings, and the sauce. The owner will even walk you through all the steps and suggest what you could have based on what you're looking for. Several friends and I are regulars there. My boyfriend and I were both very impressed. We got a basket of fries, which were very good. I got a black bean wrap (can't remember the exact name) and he got a panini which I believe had ham, cheese, and bacon. Both were excellent and fresh, and the portions were good. We shared a piece of the Tollhouse pie, which was incredible, as was the homemade vanilla ice cream that came with it. Our favorite place when in the Lake George area. This is a little gem. I've read some reviews here where people complain about the decor but I actually like it. The place is nondescript and unpretentious. Like its a secret only locals know about. But the food. Aaahhhh. The food. Sandwiches and soups are excellent but the Pasta Bar is where it's at! The chef can make about 35 different sauces by request (my favorite is the wild mushroom pesto sherry cream sauce! Wonderful restaurant filled with many happy, satisfied customers! Friday night when we visited was all you can eat pasta bar. Each made to order dish made in front of you. Each aromatic creation heaped on a platter! Chose pasta type regular or gluten free. Since 3 of the 4 of our party are gluten free we were thrilled with the separate GF menu and abundance of choices. We chose a GF Cuban pizza, homemade crust and the taste of a Cuban sandwich! Amazing! As we all shared the awesomeness I can attest to the fact that the focaccia rolls ( also homemade ) were fantastic! Dessert was heavenly with homemade GF Lemon torte and Cheesecake. I attempted to have an early dinner with 5 others at Gourmet Cafe. We ordered our food at 4:30 in the afternoon. The restaurant had advertised specials, and I ordered what sounded like a good option: A citrus chicken breast with fennel and a risotto with Grand Mariner butter. My friends ordered various other entrees. Some of us had a salad included in our meal, and some tasty garlic bread came out with that. At 5:15, our meals were not out yet. This is a long time to wait in a casual place that is not busy yet. When the food finally came, 2 in our party had to take their meals to go, so they could get to work on time. I think an hour and fifteen minutes is enough time to have dinner that early in the evening, but not on this afternoon at Gourmet Cafe. My meal was not good. The chicken breast was small and just OK. The risotto's main ingredient was heavy cream, which was not in the menu description. It was a recipe for stomach cramps, so I sent it back. By this time the server was no longer friendly. "Just tell me what you want", she said impatiently. I wanted my check adjusted, and had no time to reorder another side dish. A two dollar discount was my adjustment. read more

I had a terrible experience after stopping over on the way to VT from NYC-which a review said to do. I ordered a hometown fav from VT: a cranberry turkey apple panini-described as having granny smith apples. $9.50 for a panini I thought, so it should be great. Wrong! 1.No cranberries, we found out later it had cranberry mayo(strangely flavorless) 2. Had cheap apple pie mix instead of apple slices, like the kind of mix you would buy in a can 3. Had tons of cheese-not advertised 4.Not a real panini-was simply grilled like a grilled cheese sandwich. In NYC for 9.50 not only would you get a sandwich that tastes good, but it would be healthy as well. Also, the service was terrible, the waitress didn't smile once, was rude, and lied about the dish. In top of it all, they had an illegal salad bar-literally a salad bar with containers of various pastas and veggies placed on top of -FOLD OUT PICNIC TABLES! It was similar to a setup you would find at a BBQ in the park AND it was placed in Near the entrance way in a spot where everyone moving through the restaurant would be sure to get their germs on the food. Please don't make the mistake of stopping here on the way to a skiing destination or on your weekly commute. It's over priced and no good. read more

I would give their Pasta Night 10 stars if it was allowed...the chef prepares any dish you want any way you want it, and the food and desserts are AMAZING!!! The atmosphere at this place is just so much fun. We had a work Christmas party there, and have returned several times on our own since but would love to have another party there.
