Komol Restaurant As Vegas locals, I'm surprised we hadn't come sooner. We came before our reservation slot but the staff was welcoming and sat us in right away. Here's what we ordered: Vegetarian combo appetizer: this came with fried eggplant tofu, sweet potato, fried broccoli, and spring roll with sweet/hot sauce. The best part was the fried sweet potato as it was refreshing with the sauce. Everything was well coated in batter and perfectly fried. Vegetarian satay: this was our second time eating satay ever and is likely the best so far. It was well cut, seasoned, and pair well with the peanut sauce. This was my favorite dish of the evening! Pad Kee Mao: can't go wrong with this one as it's a classic. We added soy chicken to this and it was the same vegan meat as the satay so we had no complaints there but it was made slightly different to better pair with the flat rice noodles. Yellow curry: our first time ordering yellow curry ever and we were amazed. Our favorite is panang but this definitely tops that as it was rich and creamy. Absolutely a stunning dish (my wife's favorite)! Mango sticky rice: it's been several years since we had this, and we were hoping for sweet mangoes as it's summer and mango season. We were not disappointed at all because the mangoes were perfectly sweet and the sticky rice was made to perfection (the crispy golden rice on the top has a nice touch). We were blow away - definitely a great way to end a meal. Thai tea: no complaints here either! Great location and restaurant overall and the staff made it even better. We were searching for a new Thai spot that wasn't all the way across town, so I turned to my Yelp list. I had Komol Thai Restaurant on my list for awhile, so we landed on it. This spot is completely hidden, off of Sahara in an unassuming strip mall. I assume that's why we were the only diners on a Friday night, which usually gives me pause when entering a restaurant. Since the reviews were so positive though, we decided to give it a try. We were seated and took a few minutes to review the menu, which had a bit of everything, including a lunch special, which we made note of for future dining. My fiance ordered the garlic and pepper chicken (spice level 7) and I ordered my favorite, Pad Prik Khing with chicken (spice level 8). Our food was up within 10 minutes and the moment it hit our table you could smell the amazing Thai aromas. We both found our dishes to be very flavorful, especially the Pad Prik Khing which had the bright punch from the kefir lime leaves (unfortunately some places skimp on that, thankfully they did not!). My dish was the perfect amount of spicy, my fiance said his could have been a bit more spicy. It was interesting, his entree had a new ingredient for us, green peppercorns (thanks ChatGPT). I found them to be a bit earthy, like matcha (which I don't like), but my fiance said they were flavorful. This place stole my money. I ordered from them on on June 29th at 5:00pm when they're supposed to be open, got there at 5:30, and they were closed. The next day, closed. I've called several times of day on several separate days and they never pick up. I'm here on July 10th at 5:30pm, and they're still closed. This place has been around forever for a reason. The food is consistently delicious and made with great ingredients, and the service is excellent. My chicken friend rice was made fresh with white meat and had great flavor. The crispy pork was cooked perfectly and the brown sauce was so good. After a drive to LV, this was our first stop. It was very empty yet very cozy inside. The service was fast and our foods came out within a couple of minutes. *The pad Thai was very saucy which is something we don't usually prefer on my pad Thai. However, the pad Thai sauce here was delicious we didn't mind the sauciness! It wasn't overly sweet like some Thai places in the bay. It had a nice balance of sweet and savory *The pad see ew was your typical pad see ew with a nice savory taste from the dark soy sauce. Compared to the pad Thai, it didn't have that much sauce but it also wasn't dry. If there was more sauce, it would've been mushy. *the fried rice was good balance of sweetness of the pineapple and saltiness from the meat. The pineapple chunks were a bit big to my liking. It still very juicy and sweet though! It wasn't dry and held a lot of flavor. *the fried banana was your average fried banana. It wasn't bad at all, it was a nice cold dessert. The vanilla ice cream actually had some fried coconut flakes on the bottom which was a nice texture addition. * the mango sticky rice was yummy! The rice had a nice coconut taste to it. Unfortunately it's not mango season so it was expected that the mango was not going to be as sweet as it should be. The mango was a bit sour but the pairing with the rice made it sweet :) *the Thai ice tea was very refreshing with a hint of roasted leaves. For $5 it was worth it. Komol's has gone through sooo many changes through the decades. I remember when it was THE spot for wonderful Thai dishes & had a vast menu. Alas, the place is now in such disrepair. The womens' bathroom wasn't clean , the 1 toilet appeared clogged; decided to just wash my hands. There's a painting, piece of wood & stuff just lying against the wall near the bathrooms. And as Anthony Bourdain instructed, always visit the restaurant's BR first & that'll give you an idea of how the kitchen's maintained ! It was modestly busy with one server. He was hustling to serve everyone in a polite manner. But for starters the water was lukewarm with an off putting , unpleasant taste as we waited for awhile for the appetizers. The chicken satay was tough & the peanut sauce ratio had too much soy: a darker, heavier, sweeter sauce with less of the creamy , lighter colored version with bits of peanut that I much prefer. The cucumbers didn't have a fresh, crunchy taste & they don't serve it with carrots or toast points like they use to. The spring rolls were meager of the main protein/ shrimp & they had purple cabbage in them! That's a first..... no carrot, no bean sprouts, no cilantro, few shrimp, rice noodles & the lettuce wasn't cut to eliminate brown spots or the bulky center rib.... not delicious. I ordered pad Thai.... wanted chicken but he said they were out which didn't explain how I got the chicken satay, oh well. I ordered shrimp & tofu. The dish had a low average of these 2 ingredients & plenty of rice noodles swimming in a dark, sticky, thick, overly sweet sauce. The only condiment was cut peanuts.... no bean sprouts, no carrots, no lime slice. I couldn't finish the noodles after eating the few shrimps & tofu with some of the noodles. The sauce just ruined it & I hate wasting food. We were so hungry when we arrived thats why I forgot to take pictures; my brain was focused on eating! Fortunately, my partner had a better experience ordering the vegetable garlic shrimp which he finished. I'm sad to say this chapter in my family's history of going to eat at Komols' is over after 40 some years. We did have several decades of enjoyable meals from previous owners. Taste is very subjective & I've given you our opinion which I'm certain isn't shared by everyone but do try Pad Thai from other Thai places just as a comparison. They're not all alike! read more

The spring rolls and the Thai green tea were great but the pad see ew was just awful. I selected the combination for the protein which should include chicken, pork, beef, and shrimp; I can understand having just 3 pieces of shrimp in there but when the rest of the protein consists of about 80% chicken you know that something's wrong. My other issue was the carrot to broccoli ratio. One of the reasons why I get this kind of meal is usually for the broccoli but when I find only 2 pieces of broccoli I was rather disappointed. I used to LOVE coming here but the papaya salad + herbal salad felt as if it had been in the fridge for a couple of days - I had my mother try it and she says they changed to sauce which made it undesired and we ended up leaving it on the table . These didn't even stop there I called two more times trying to get directions and he hung up both times after telling me he was busy. I stopped by this place for dinner on a weekday and the place was not busy, table was easy to get. I ordered Thai iced tea, vegetarian combo appetizer, cashew tofu, and fried rice with curry. Vegetarian combo appetizer was my fav one. It comes with portions of spring roll, fried crispy spinach, fried sweet potato, tofu fried tods, and fried eggplant. This combo itself will be quite filling for a person with normal diet. My fav was the spinach and the eggplant. I only wish if after frying these things the chef could dap them with a paper to absorb some oil. I found the cashew tofu below average. Not very flavorful by itself, but I ordered some chili sauce and then it tasted ok. I wouldn't recommend this dish. Since most of the other dishes came with baby corn but not this, I asked the server if I can get some baby corn in my cashew tofu. While he agreed to do that and put very generous amount of baby corn in it, I later realized I was charged extra for this corn. I wish if the server had told me that upfront. Finally the fried rice with curry was average too, on top of being average fried rice, I believe there are some spices in it which makes you believe it's a curry fried rice. The Thai iced tea has huge portion and is still good. Hence I feel this place might have good appetizers and drinks but not for entrees. read more

I have been. Coming to Komol's for many years. I used to go every time I was in Vegas. The last few years Vegas has not been on my travel destination map. On a recent soccer tournament trip it was late and we needed some dinner. We wanted something besides burgers and I had a sudden inspiration. A few minutes later we were seated and ordering even though they were closing in 20 minutes. The staff was so nice and made certain we had everything we needed. The food was delivered in record time exactly as ordered. And just as I remembered, the beef sauté with peanut sauce was so tender and flavorful. Each entree was amazing. We did the peanut dressing, and all were yummylicious. The food here is very good, Thai at its' best even for lunch specials. The place from outside is quite a little dim, however, once you step inside, it's another ambience altogether. While our waitress was so nice, she was the only server there and getting our order taken or food delivered together seemed like a challenge. She also forgot one of our orders so one of the people at our table never received food. She apologized profusely and I'm guessing it was because they are understaffed. Food was okay, my curry was okay. The lemon chicken was good. Pad Thai was good. The fried rice was quite greasy and had a strange taste. The fresh spring rolls were excellent. They also ran out of beer, the guys at our table each ordered a beer, one person asked for a second and we were informed they were out of beer. There was only three tables occupied, so I'm not sure why they were out if food. I hate leaving subpar reviews. The portion size was surprisingly small, and the presentation lacked the usual quality. Very few bean sprouts were soggy from being mixed into the hot dish instead of being served on the side.
