it was closer to where we were. went. got what we wanted - marble taro bread and the brioche. register person was friendly. the other person we encountered up close was the person stocking the bread. she was not pleasant, came off a bit angry. You can loudly hear the tray getting bumped and stacked against each other. She said "excuse me" when she fill up the bread 2 shelves right on top of ours, after that she kept going around our area, squeezing in to make sure she stock the bread, not caring that we were in the same space first. the feel: we were surely in her way as customers I won't be coming back. read more

DO NOT GET THE MANGO CREME BRULEE CAKE ‼‼‼ It tasted like SOAP I purchased a Mango Creme Brulee cake for a family member's birthday. Come to find out when I cut the cake, its frozen!!!! I mean seriously, for a $36 cake this is unacceptable. The creme brulee was so frozen it broke the cake slicer! As we are eating the cake, the top layer tasted like SOAP! I'm not sure whether cross contamination occurred when they were making this cake but it was UNPLEASANT to ENJOY. Service for drinks tends to always be slow during the day (anytime I come either morning, noon, or afternoon). Wouldn't recommend the green milk tea if you decide to get 50% sweet or lower. It just tastes like VERY watered down tea, barely any green milk tea flavor. Only flavor I've tasted was the sweetness from the boba. read more

Unfortunately it wasn't until I was in my car and on my way out that I noticed my drink did not have the lychee jelly I ordered and paid an extra $0.50 for. I was checking it at the counter and thought perhaps the jelly is hiding and I'll taste it once I poke, but there was nothing. Additionally, the drink (strawberry milk tea) was okay. I appreciated how it wasn't too sweet, and there are pieces of real strawberries. It's also been a while since I've been to 85 so I was surprised to see everything already individually wrapped and no more "fresh bread!" announcements. They also seemed to stop serving the chocolate bun (brown bread with powdered sugar) which is unfortunate because it was my fave. But what really stood out was how the manager handled it all. I'm pretty sure she was the one who helped me, super friendly, genuinely apologetic about the wait. That level of customer care in the middle of chaos? Seriously impressive. And shoutout to the rest of the staff too, they stayed focused and knocked out all the drink orders like pros. The bakery is conveniently located along 3rd and Main street. You can find parking in the lot or park by the nearby streets. The chain has been around for a while but the quality of the baked goods varies per location. I stop by early Saturday morning to buy milk bread since most of the goods are usually sold out by 2PM. Walk in the store at 4PM on weekday and the shelves are half empty. I love the half moon almond but they skimp on the cream. There's barely any cream holding the chiffon cake together. It's like they put just enough for the almonds to adhere onto the cake. The egg tarts are a hit or a miss - some days, the crust is soggy and crumbly while other days it's just right. The milk bread isn't as good as it used to be. I remember it being pillowy soft. The drinks are nothing special. There are multiple boba tea places along Main Street to choose from. The staff are courteous but they don't have enough cashiers. I once waited 15 minutes in line on a morning weekend when they had one cashier, two making tea, I saw some in the kitchen and another walking around behind the counter trying her best to look busy. As most of the 85° Bakery location, this branch has many pastries to select from, both savory and sweet. There are additionally some refrigerated cakes and slices of treats at the front counter. They also sell drinks like hot lattes and iced coffees. The shop is a bit small, but it does have a few tables where you can enjoy your beverage and or your treats. The staff are cordial and efficient. This location is located in the building full of condominiums. Parking is plentiful, but it does share with many businesses so it could be limited during peak hours. Nice pit stop & I got 5 things done all at once- awesome! read more

I used to like 85C pastries and cakes a lot. This 85C is located on Main Street in Alhambra. It is big inside but service was super slow. There was only one cash register and the line was long. I just bought the matcha choco bun, coconut twist and Hawaiian chicken. The matcha choco bun was yummy. Their other pastries were a bit oily though. There is a kiosk to place order, but there is cashier in the front. They have a bread section, so I got some egg tarts ($4.05 for two). The cake slices were $3.85 each at the checkout area. There was a line, so it took some time to get to the cashier. Service was good. My tiger boba latte came out rather quickly. I like most of the bakery items here because it is not as sweet compared to the ones in western bakery. Some of my favorites are berry tale, mango tale, brioche, taro mochi boroh, walnut raisin multigrain bread... and many more. I also like their mango green tea and iced sea salt coffee. All 85C bakeries are busy, especially this location in the afternoon during weekdays. Students from the nearby high school frequent this location. So avoid coming here in the afternoon (after school is out) if you don't want to join the crowd. Even though lines are long, it usually moves pretty fast; but the wait for your drinks can take awhile when they are busy. read more

We were in the area and decided to stop by this location. Parking is easy to find, and it's a pretty spacious location that's not too busy. We went around 4:30 pm and they didn't have the biggest selection like usual but it was understandable because of the time and it was a holiday weekend. We ended up going with just a few of our usual pastries and for drinks, we got the iced pumpkin spice latte and sea salt latte. I like how this 85 degree location has a lot of bread and pastries available early in the morning. Some of the bread were still warm when I arrived. The bread are usually fresh and good. I've never had a stale bread from this location. They could improve by hiring more staff to make drinks though. I went during early rush hour and only one staff was making drinks, so the wait was long. I wouldn't suggest coming here for your cup of coffee if you are in a rush in the morning. I had the iced sea salt coffee and it was strong, but still creamy and slightly sweet. Parking can be tough as this location is in downtown Alhambra and there are only street parking and a tiny parking lot at a small shopping center next to the bakery. read more

They also include birthday candles and a chocolate plaque that has Happy Birthday printed on it. If you're thirsty they have drinks, rivialing nearby boba shops for pricing but limited on flavors.
