Asked for gel nails in a color they had on display. Instead of telling me they didnt have that coloe they tried to mix a bunch of other colors together and fake like it was the same. When I called them out that it didnt look like the sample they made something up about the samples are different and they tried orderi g it but it never ships? So i said I am choosing another color. The tech did my manicure and didnt even do the same things to both hands. Took a full 15 minutes just to shape my nails (which are very short and I had done the prior day). The owner did the two base clear layers and the color was done by the tech. I now have nails that are thick and have little bubbles coming up under. I dont even want to go back to get it fixed. Ladies. I know our manicured looks (hair, nails, lashes, etc) are very important to us, but please let's not sacrifice the health and proper care of those aforementioned. I am writing this review because I have been going to this nail salon for over 6 years and I noticed how Kelly (Kelly in particular) has become very unprofessional and she really doesn't care for the health of your nails. She makes them look good (when she wants to or if she likes you) but it can really be hit or miss. That's not what I want from a nail tech that I am supposed to trust and pay to give me good service. When I first started going to Kelly I LOVeD her...But, to my shock and surprise, her customer service and her want to maintain the health of my nails has diminished over time. I live around the area, but I usually go elsewhere, but I was pressed for time and wanted to get my nails done asap. I made an appointment with Kelly on Thursday May 19th. I came to the shop and she greeted me. Kelly and this other lady was the only technicians there. I told Kelly I want full set acrylic with round shape. She is a really nice lady, but there's things ticked me off that day. 1. She repeatedly tried(3 times) to make me select gel polish when I told her I want regular polish. 2. While halfway through doing my nails, three new customers come in and I noticed that Kelly was so eager to assist the other customers that she rushed with my nail service. I find that highly rude and disrespectful. I clearly made an appointment with you and because you want to service walk-in's, you decide to poorly finish my nails. 3. There's no price list in the shop. When you ask for price, they just tell you which could mean they are making prices up as they go. I got charged $46 for my nails which was nice until, it started to mess up the following week. I feel like this shop is a scam and Kelly may have purposely done something to my mail so that it wouldn't last long because I did not want to pay $10 extra for gel. UPDATE: I have gone to this nail salon for years and never have I ever felt so disrespected; therefore, I am no longer going to this shop for their services. Pedicure Last week, I got a manicure and pedicure and it was terrible. The woman who did my toes (I wish I could give you guys a name) did a terrible job and I felt that she was a bit dishonest. So, usually, the manicurist asks the customer what kind of pedicure she would like; my lady did not do this. Instead, she just started. I usually get the basic pedicure FYI. So, while she is doing the pedicure, she holds up the tool used for callus, which is an extra $5, WITHOUT letting me know it will be extra. I declined knowing that it is extra. Then, she holds up the foot scrubber. For what?! This is included in the basic pedicure service free of charge so, I was highly confused and still do not know if I was charged for the scrub or not. I just nodded yes, thinking she was new or something. This lady also rubbed me the wrong way bc when cleaning the dirt from under my toenails, she put it on the skin of my foot, tapped me to get my attention, and then showed me the dirt. WHY?! That was gross. Lastly, the paint job was terrible. I really believe that she needs more training before doing pedicures. She always wears athletic leggings and the sets usually match. Manicure Now, here was the real disappointment. Kelly (the owner) is always on point and I never have complaints when she does my manicures/pedicures. I asked for French tips and I guess because it was near closing time, she rushed the job. Although rushed, I thought it was still very pretty. One day later the paint chipped. I had a photoshoot so I rushed to the salon to get her to fix it. When I walked in, no one greeted me--not even Kelly and she saw me when I entered. She tended to the other customers and came to me 7-10 minutes later to look at my nails where she essentially told me it was my fault the paint chipped because "I work too hard" and "have to be more careful." I do not work for one and even if I did, I've gotten plenty of gel French tips that lasted for weeks. So, then she told me, in a rather rude tone of voice, that I would have to wait because there are other customers. I am guessing she was upset that I came to get my nail fixed. Anyway, 45 minutes pass by and another manicurist approaches me and tells me she will fix the nail for me, which she does. While she is doing this for me, I ask her for a price list of the services because I felt that I was overcharged the other day when I got the services. I paid $70 (not including tip) and usually for both, I pay $55 or $60. Kelly said it was because I got the French tips so I just wanted to check by viewing the price list. Well, the woman asked Kelly for the price list and Kelly looked at me and said that the price list was not updated and that she can just tell me the price of whatever I needed. Shady. So, the day after getting the one nail fixed, another nail on the opposite hand started to chip. Today makes it exactly a week since getting my nails and toes done and they look a mess. I will NEVER come to this shop again; nor will I recommend. It is such a shame too because I really liked Kelly and her shop. Even when I noticed customers I knew jump ship, I stayed onboard. *sigh* should have jumped ship with them. read more

I went for a touch up of my gel nails and a pedicure for my dad who is a senior citizen. Like most seniors, reaching down to do their feet is not easy or a priority. I showed them his feet and asked if they could do it and they said yes. Afterwards he still had long, curved toe nails and they said take him to a doctor- I was livid. What a waste of $30! I later took him to King Nails next to Costco on Route 1 - Tommy did the work and would have been my FIRST choice had he not been out of town. Worst part/ I lost my wallet there on Friday - I called they said they didn't have it and hung up on me! They didn't ask for my phone number in case they found it. Reasons why I might consider making Nail Art by Kim an alternative: 1. Pretty friendly staff. Nothing over the top, just enough enthusiasm to get you into a chair. 2. Pretty good selection of colors. Nothing special, a lot of basics. 3. Lots of people on staff waiting for any overflow from better salons in the area. 4. Alec is true to his craft. He may not speak much English, but where nail shaping and polishing are concerned, we speak a united language of beauty. Reasons why this nail shop will remain secondary (really 3rd): 1. Staff could really tighten up on sanitizing the equipment. Seriously. 2. A full coat on top of my real nails was expensive and didn't include: a full manicure before acrylic, hand and arm massage. 3. Although the the shop is called Nail Art, I didn't see any sample art, any 3D figures, nothing. They also don't offer services and comps like: Dip Nails, hot towels, throw away shoes, Shellac, hot wax, tv, magazines, water, etc. Everything I've come to love past the age of 25. 4. I've been going here for years. I mean like 15+ on and off.... And 5 continuously. I see kelly, for my full acrylic sets with gel polish. I keep my nails relatively basic. I have never had such good quality sets. I had got a fresh set back in Feb 2020- my last before the "pandemic" I could not for the life of me get my nails off. No lifting no peeling of the polish. She does fantastic sets. I get pedicures once or twice a year here. I cannot remember the name of the lady who does it but she does a phenomenal job as well. read more

This place does a great job across the board, I'd say especially for nails/ manicures. It's a local neighborhood basic shop so they may not have all the colors you want, but are always willing to use yours if you opt to bring in your favorite. Angie & Kellan are my go-to techs, I highly recommend calling in advance to check their availability and make an appointment or you will wait a while. As others have mentioned, I have noticed staff napping in the pedicure chairs during slow hours but it doesn't bother me as long as customers are able to use them when needed. As with most places its got 1 small bathroom, but the space as a whole is well-lit and has plenty of well-placed mirrors. It has 1 TV and they will change it to a station for you if you ask. The only reason I did NOT give 5 STARS is because they use some type of wood bowl to soak your fingers for the manicure instead of glass or porcelain or something. read more

I've used this salon mostly as a convenient option for eyebrow and lip waxing and threading. This review is for the quality of the work and not necessarily the ambiance of the salon. Work Quality: The lady who does the threading here is excellent. I believe her name is Annie or Angie. If you can get her to do the waxing, go with her as well. She's very detailed and thorough. Some of the other ladies are alright, but she is definitely the best. Ambiance: Threading and waxing takes place in a small room in the back of the salon. The room is clean, but not exactly nice looking. They also use this room as a stock room behind a curtain. It can be slightly unnerving to have people walking in and out grabbing items while you're having a session. But otherwise, fine. Pricing: Pretty affordable, much less than DC. read more

I've been going to this salon for over eight years. I have had my ups and downs with this place, but today I realized the hassle is just not worth it. They are not as great as they act/think they are (they aren't the last 'decent' nail salon on earth). They do good manicures and pedicures compared to other places in this area, but are VERY busy. Appointments are useless because they don't stick to them, or keep them organized at all. For example, when you call to make an appointment they don't write down your name or anything - they just tell you to come in, so you end up waiting for 45 minutes anyways. Kailynn is extremely unprofessional and R U D E (is an understatement...you are not the last nail tech on earth!). If you do not have time, or cannot take a customer, just let them know on the phone. It saves your time and the customers time. I made the appointment with her, but her husband did my pedicure because she was busy doing someone else's nails. Kelly tells you "yes yes sit down" but you will end up waiting 40 minutes without even being acknowledged. Also, she rushes to the point where she's tugging and pulling on your fingers. Tina and Angie are awesome though!! Tina is SO KIND and does a good job, and Angie does also. However, customer service is just as important as the quality of work. The hassle is just not worth it. The tech is rude, unprofessional, and just seems like they are doing you a favor by doing your nails (when in reality you're paying them $50-$60 for the services). All in all, you should be prepared to wait 45 minutes to be seen, then another 2-3 hours in the salon for a quite basic pedicure/gel manicure. Prices: they're average! Similar to those in this area. I visited this nail salon recently and I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting a small nondescript nail salon for a quick fill-in and pedicure. However, I was impressed with the customer service and the quality of work from the technicians. My nails came out beautifully and my pedicure was extremely luxurious. The staff was a little much with the upsale. They suggested a facial and brow threading and a number of other treatments that I did not intend to get when I walked in. But my facial was great and my brows looked amazing. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is comfortable. I think I have found my regular nail salon. I went to this salon for over 10 years and they always did a pretty good job. I have been getting white gel polish for years. The last time i went, shortly after i walked out, the white gel turned a light beige color and almost brown at the tips. I went back to ask that they fix it and Kelly and another girl I'd never even seen working there got loud with me and blamed it on my makeup foundation (i don't wear make up) or on spilling wine on them (huh?). I've been to this salon twice to see Ka & she was good. This last time Ka was busy so I had to go to the owner Kim (for a full set). Kim had an attitude like she was doing me a favor. She put one of my tips on crocked and said it was my finger, I asked her to re-do it; she replied you can do it. She started shaping my nails, I asked her if she could try to straighten the crocked tip- she replied you can do it yourself and handed me the file. I told her that's what I'm paying you for- she replied "Like I said You Can Do It Yourself". I got up and walked out. Worst nail salon ever. I have been going here on and off for over a year and always had an amazing customer service experience until two days ago. I came in as soon as they opened and let them know I needed an eyebrow waxed. She stated it would be one minute. There was two of them in there and ZERO customers except for me. The other employee was sitting on his laptop in a pedicure chair. Completely unprofessional. I asked how long the wait would be and says ONE MINUTE. Ummmm obviously it isn't one minute because I've been sitting here for FIVE. He laughs and says something to the other employee in his native language and they both laugh. I asked if there was a problem and the lady goes "it will be a couple of minutes" and laughed. I got up informed them that they just lost a regular customer and left. You know I've seen this before in other nail salons and never let it bother but now it's getting out of hand. Customer service is everything when it comes to running a business. And word of mouth can ruin or make a business. I get they feel more comfortable speaking their native language but it is incredibly rude. Speak English you are in the US!!
