Hubby and I don't go here a lot and we were craving BBQ and did not feel like driving across the bridge to our usual place. We decided to stay local and try this place out. We were quickly greeted and told to sit anywhere we like which we chose the outdoor area by the window. It took a few for the server to come to our table but once they did the service provided was quick, courteous and friendly. The dining area was pretty cozy and loud as there were other tables filled and kept happy as well. I ordered the brisket and chicken combo with potato salad and green beans. Hubby ordered the ribs and chicken combo with mac n cheese and green beans. Our drinks came out shortly after we placed our order and I really enjoyed the Arnold Palmer they provided. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. We thought the sides were just average but the corn bread really is so delicious!! Hubby and I could not get enough of it. I tried the rib and I liked it along with the brisket. The chicken was just ok to us as well. They do give generous portions that we had a lot to take home as far as meats. We had a good dinner and can maybe consider coming back if we ever don't feel up to driving out of town. read more

I was excited to try Gracie's. It always smells amazing whenever I drive by, and I finally had an opportunity to give it a try. I opted for delivery, and it was still pleasantly warm when it arrived. It smelled wonderfully, and I do think there was a decent serving of brisket. One may argue that the side portions were a bit small in relation to the price, which was the biggest downfall. The brisket itself was average and enjoyable, but their barbecue sauce was perfectly tangy and paired nicely. I would love to get a bottle of their sauce for my pantry, it was that good. Cornbread was nice, not too dry. The coleslaw was fine - I not a fan of raisins in coleslaw myself, but I liked the addition of the green apples. The Mac and cheese was the most disappointing bit. Cheese was only to be found in separated blobs. The rest was mostly just grease and paprika. I also enjoyed their Swamp Juice, which was sweet tea and lemonade mixed. I pretty decent concoction if you want a sweeter Arnold Palmer. Overall, I wasn't blown away, but enjoyed it enough to perhaps try a different dish in the future. read more

OK I have been eating their BBQ since it was served from a trailer on Springs road back in the 90s. I have enjoyed their food over the years but have some comments No matter what others say the tri tip is not the end all be all tri tip that some make it out to be, as a matter of fact I end up feeling disappointed whatever entree I get it in. I find it to be dry and tastless The side salad and small pies are the best in Vallejo I enjoy the baby back ribs but sorely miss the spare ribs that are no longer on the menu. Also the menu prices have gone up by a fair amount recently. I understand operating a restaurant in downtown Vallejo has its own set of challenges, OK what I am trying to say as a good customer is that I do find your BBQ as good as I used to and with the higher prices I will be dining there less. read more

I fell in LOVE with the Smoked Turkey at Thanksgiving (Seriously, the best I've ever had and I don't like Turkey!!!) and I started stopping by to pickup the smoked chicken OMG!! So freaking good!!! I should have bought 2 (4 of us ate it at one setting) . The cornbread and the BBQ sauce was excellent. My Granddaughter really liked the Mac and Cheese (super picky 4yro) I couldn't eat it (not GF) . We can't wait until Summer so we can party outside! The only thing, green beans too tender !! Anyone who tells you they had poor service, less than delicious food or was short changed when leaving this establishment was paid to leave their review. This is by far one of the best places to come to eat in this dying cess pool in Carlos Santanas Bay Area. This is authentic barbecue. These are genuine people. You will not find a better place to come in and eat pulled pork in The North Bay than right here. The banana pudding does leave a little something to be desired but that's not my business, if you want barbecue with amazing cornbread, this is where you would want to find yourself. Went there for the last time recently. They just clearly do not care about customers or customer service. Orders and food are consistently inconsistent. Always forgetting to include items in to go orders both big and small. Never fully stocked. Can count on them saying they're out of several items at anytime like burgers, burnt ends, sides like mashed potatoes and gravy or potato salad, produce such as strawberries and avocado and always missing popular beers listed on the menu. Was there last night with a group of friends. The food was good though the portions were measly. Downside was the service. It was our first time there, we walked in, and it was not clear if there was table service or order at the counter. The counter person was on the phone so she jerked her thumb at me, indicating, I guess, that we should seat ourselves, so we did. Initial service was pretty quick but that's where it ended. Our waiter was either on vacation (in his mind) or just did not care. He never came back after he took our order other than when we flagged him down for things we needed. At the end of our meal, we were going to order dessert (something we made him well aware of when we ordered), but we were handed our bill as if they wanted us to leave. After ordering dessert, it took way to long for the dessert to be served. At least 25 minutes. I think the food was tasty but the service is lacking and if I want to be ignored when I go to dinner there is no need for me to travel 25 miles for that. I would not go back. read more

So a few colleagues and I had finished a day of prep for a conference the next day and we were starving. Also, noting that this was going to be one of the few meals I would have before I got my jaw surgery, I was really hoping this place could provide a delicious and joyous meal. We were given Gracie's as a recommendation from a colleague at CSU Cal Maritime...and I will say that the recommendation did not disappoint. I'll get started... Service: Just great! We had Justice tend to us. And I will say that he is amazing and I would request his service any day I come in. Justice knew the menu, had great recommendations, and was always quite attentive to our needs. Everything came out in a great amount of time and the food came out as it was finished in the kitchen...so it was still hot. Venue: The ambiance was fitting for a bbq joint. The mason jar lightning was a great touch. Everything was quite casual and there was quite a bit of seating. They have an outdoor option as well. Their windows are glass garage doors, so beware that you may need to have an extra jacket because heat is not kept in well. Food: The food was delicious! We had the family feast which was a good portion of food for all of us! Everything was delicious, however, we have some top contenders. I loved the sausages (could be a bit more spicy), the scalloped potatoes (which were a special) was fantabulous, chicken (well prepared), the mac & cheese (it's not you're regular mac and cheese, more like a chili cheese penne dish), and the brisket. Stumbled on this place in vallejo and wow it was really good! Super quick dining as everything is already made! You have to have one of there teas with a meal its a must! The corn bread was to die for warm and soft with a little crisp edge! The random taco was unique lol we appreciated it on the plate. Wow!! Yes, it was that good!! I was floored!!!! A group of us came here post a day at the nearby six flags and we were glad we found this bbq spot! Hubby and I shared the sampler plate that came with hot links, chicken, brisket, pulled pork, ribs and two sides. Seriously, I was soooo tempted to ordering more food since everything was soooo good! I usually don't care much for chicken at a bbq place but boy, Gracie's chicken was amazing! I had to say one of the best I've had! Flavorful, smokey, delisssshhh. The brisket, hot links, puller pork, and ribs were really good too. As for the sides, we had the chilli and pesto pasta salad. Chilli was really good, the pasta salad was just so so. Got Brisket, Mac & Slaw. The staff is quick and friendly. The food is... Good. It's not bad BBQ, it's not great BBQ. It's just good. The serving of meat is good, the serving of sides is a little light. The sides taste ok but the Mac noodles are mush. The slaw is nice and crispy and tangy (it's got apple and raisins in it) and the cornbread is good. Ordered through door dash and will definitely order again and dine in when I can. I had the salad with all the meat in it and it did not disappoint. Often times bbq places' meat is dry or tough but not here. It was fantastic and I didn't get that "I'm eating a salad and feel sad that I'm eating a salad" feeling you get sometimes when trying to eat a little more healthy. I will definitely order it again. Oh and I would never have thought to put dried cranberries in a salad like this but dahum guys that was a good idea. Maybe tonight. But I want to try the ribs too. And the chicken. Hands down, one of the best experiences I've had with beautifully tasty BBQ, nostalgic pies, kitschy mason jars, and wonderful seating environments. If I could give more stars, I would. The chicken quarters (just the short order) was filling and the best BBQ chicken I've had. It fell off the bone and it was juicy and complimented their choice of BBQ sauce well. Along with that, their cornbread really made it for the sides because of its perfect fluffiness and grittiness. And don't forget their mason jars which are actually very large mason jars and none of that small decorative stuff. Swamp Juice, iced tea, strawberry juice--whatever it is, it will probably taste amazing. And their pies, nostalgic to me because of high school, but still delicious and perfectly sized to this day. Then the seating at night is lovely. Dim yet lit by strings and mason jars, and an ambient light to make everything visible with the right amount of relaxing darkness. Haven't been here in a LONG time and it is still the best bbq! Ordered the brisket plate with Mac and cheese, and potato salad. Also comes with cornbread. The meat was soft and juicy. It did not need any sauce. The sides were flavorful and the cornbread was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Everything was perfect. We were going to see a show at the Empress Theatre in Vallejo and we found Gracie's. The star of this restaurant was definitely the meats. The ribs were tender & juicy and the hot links were good and spicy. The sides were ok and we liked the potato salad better then the macaroni salad. They serve a sweet BBQ sauce with their BBQ. A friend bought the family dinner for him , his wife & Daughter and there was enough food to feed 5 people. The prices are really reasonable and they only serve beer & wine and non-alcohol drinks. The owner and my husband forged a bond over baseball that will never broken. For at least and hour a dodger fan and a giant's fan found common ground. Yesterday, I went down to meet friends in Vallejo and decided to order food from Gracie's to bring home. What a huge disappointment. This was the worst-tasting meal I've had in a long time. The beans, beans/rice, links and potato salad were awful. I ordered 2 meals: 1/2 slab of pork ribs, hot link, beans and potato salad; and 1/2 chicken, hot link, beans/rice and potato salad. The hot link was missing from the 1/2 chicken order - maybe he didn't hear me, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. After taking a few bites of the potato salad, beans, beans/rice, we let the garbage disposal take over. Not ever going back again...and that's too bad. They used to have very good food. read more

Kathleen and I met here for lunch today. I've had it bookmarked for a while. I found it more easily than I had expected and parked across Virginia. As I was crossing the street to get to the restaurant I noticed they had their own lot which is shared w/ another business. Very convenient, but my parking space was fine for today. I was welcomed by a very nice young woman and took a two top table by the window. Kathleen had eaten here before and had liked everything she had. I was a bit earlier than she was, which gave me time to look over their menu. They make iced tea daily and serve it unsweetened and as Southern sweet tea. A young man approached me to take my order and when I told him I was waiting for a friend he asked if he could bring me anything to drink and I asked for iced tea. It came in a pint sized (I think) Mason jar w/ plenty of ice and a wrapped straw. There is outdoor seating in addition to the indoor, although I didn't see it. I just saw people heading out to it. Over the indoor tables were very cool light fixtures, a trio of different sized Mason jars containing Edison lights. It's a great look. By the time Kathleen joined me I had decided on a lunch portion of St. Louis ribs, which came w/ two sides and a mini loaf of cornbread for $16. Our server was the young woman who had welcomed me. I didn't ask her name. For my sides I chose green beans and cheesy mac. Kathleen chose pulled pork and two sides of coleslaw. Our meals were served on small metal trays lined w/paper. The sides were in cardboardish dishes while the meat and cornbread were on the tray itself. The ribs were moist and delicious. There was a bottle of BBQ sauce on the table but I didn't use it. Both the beans and the cheesy mac were very good. The cornbread was moist. I ate half of it and two of the 4 ribs and all the beans and mac. Kathleen had leftovers, which she took home. I took mine home too and she gave me her cornbread, which I brought to Alan. She also gave me a forkful of her pulled pork, which I will have w/ the ribs for lunch tomorrow. Coming from the East Bay, I was taken aback when the takeout containers were Styrofoam, which is illegal in most cities in our area. I wouldn't have used the straw, but it would have been almost impossible to drink the tea w/o it. Those are my only complaints. There is one gender neutral bathroom through the kitchen, in the back on the left. I would definitely come back, but I would bring my own container for the leftovers. read more

This is THE spot for barbecue on this side of the bay. I highly recommend the pit master, comes with chicken, pulled pork, ribs, tri-tip, two pieces of corn bread. The burnt ends from the ribs was my favorite. But they were all good. Overall, my wife and I had a good experience coming here. Gracie's barbecue is quality.
