We ordered many sandwiches for a party, and they tasted amazing. My dad went in not long after the part to redeem his free sandwich and they said they were not able to give it as promised. This was a let down considering we used them for catering and then the promise of 1 free sandwich would not be honored. The issue is not the price of a sandwich but the lack of follow thru and the way the issue was handled. More recently I DoorDashed a Mesquite Turkey sandwich from then 30 min to closing. I came across this highly rated sandwich shop and decided to stop in after checking out the menu--though it was hard to choose. As soon as I walked in, I was warmly greeted. On the verge of being really good. If not, possibly even greatness. However two major flaws have to be addressed before we can get there. 1). Ordered a hot pastrami sandwich and the bread was literally rock solid. It was almost as if I was eating a sandwich on a crouton. The bread was over toasted and would literally crumble w/ every bite. Nothing worst than eating a sandwich and the bread is hard as a rock, crumbling and tearing up the roof of your mouth. 2) The meat portion was underwhelming. When I think of a pastrami sandwich I envision the "pastrami" being the lead singer, not the backup. The pastrami portion was very small. Although the overall combo of swiss cheeses, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, pickles and garlic spread mixed very well together, there should have been more meat. This was a recommendation from a native Vallejo resident and with me only have been living in Vallejo 5 years I would have never stopped here however I'm glad we ordered sandwiches Friday afternoon for lunch. Now prices are comparable to most Mom Pop Deli situations literally about $40 from me and my husband to get sandwiches and chips sometimes we paid even more than that but the sandwiches were huge; we both are fairly pleased and couldn't even finish eating like a half. I wanted to like this place, I really did. We came in to try this spot out because we heard about this place years ago when it opened, but never got to it. You slab 1 person who came in, ordered their sandwich 15 minutes after we ordered got their sandwich before us, so that was kind of annoying . The list goes on. I really tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe they were understaffed? Who knows? All I know is that as I watched one of the employees make our sandwich, it took her 2 minutes to slab on some lettuce. 10/2/24 was way too hot to cook. so I decided to find a local deli to pick up a sandwich for dinner. It was about 4:40 in the afternoon when I walked into Picnicky's. The store was clean bright and thankfully air conditioned. There were no other customers inside the establishment, and I was greeted promptly by the associate behind the counter. She was very polite and gave me the time I needed to look over the menu to make my decision. I decided on The Vinny, she asked if I wanted to add anything else to the sandwich besides, what comes on it standardly. I asked her to add pickles, tomatoes, and lettuce. She asked if I wanted to add anything else with the sandwich and I decided on a bag of chips she asked if I would like to add a drink to my order which I declined. My order came up to $20.48 with a 15% tip of $3.07. I took my order to go to eat at home. Upon opening my sandwich I found it neatly wrapped and assembled. The Vinny tasted ok but I was a little disappointed in the amount of meat on the sandwich. (See picture for reference). The meat was literally the thickness of a chip from the bag I purchased. If I wouldn't have added the pickles tomatoes and lettuce the sandwich would've been basically bread. For $15.75 I would expect more meat than was on my sandwich. 2 star for food due to lack of meat. 5 Star for the service from the associate behind the counter. read more

Pretty good sandwich, can't say it was great, but it was definitely good. Wish I had asked for salt and pepper, just needed a little something to make it great.
