After driving by this restaurant so many times, I finally dined in at Pasta Avest & Pizzeria. My first impression when I walked in was how clean it was inside. There were 5 tables plus some seats at the counter to dine in. We placed our order at the counter and then found a table. The menu had many choices to select from, including a make your own salad and a make your own pasta dish. We ordered the garlic bread to start, I ordered the eggplant Panini and my husband ordered a pizza. Everything we tasted was very good and the portions were a nice size as far as the garlic bread and Panini were concerned. The service was very friendly and quick. I look forward to returning to this restaurant to try additional items off of their menu. read more

We found this place on a trip back to NY, as we were STARVING and needed food asap. We needed somewhere with parking for our trailer and that would be close to the road and quick. We stopped here, as the food looked better compared to the other places along the way. They had a few guys in the back making food and one girl at the front handling orders. We ordered 2 paninis & a sub. I heard the girl softly say it would take 20 min after just I ordered, which I thought was odd because it was a very simple order and they weren't busy. The restaurant was interesting, as it was a mix of a pizza, pasta, sandwich, and coffee bar of sorts. There were plenty of seats and outdoor seating as well. It took maybe 25-30 minutes to get our orders, putting a large dent in our trip home by adding an hour. I didn't have much to complain about for my order, a fresh mozz, basil, tomato, and grilled chicken panini on focaccia. It was huge and beautiful, but it lacked a lot of flavor that it had a lot of potential for. The focaccia was very crispy & the mozz and chicken were fine, but the pesto did not have much flavor, so it was really one note. When my friend opened his sub, he noticed hair on his lettuce, which is never something you want to see, especially after paying ~$15. I don't have a photo, so you can take my word or not. My boyfriend had a special sandwich with a cutlet and vodka sauce. He didn't rave about that either and thought the cutlet had little to no flavor. Maybe we just ordered the wrong thing or caught them on a bad day, or maybe we are just used to having really amazing restaurants near us. I won't recommend it to anyone driving back through CT. The staff was nice and the place was cozy, but the food just didn't make it worth it. read more

Under newer ownership but most menu items remain. Paninis were good and a good value as well and great chocolate chip cookies. I do miss the spinach based make your own pizza bowl and hope they consider bringing that back as it was one of my favorite items. Friendly service and a couple of tables to sit and eat but most take their food to go. Large pizza slices and pretty good salad bar although I do miss the pre-Covid make your own salad which charged by the lb vs the new per item pricing which means I can't make my salad exactly how I want as sometimes I just wanted a tiny amount of one thing and maybe more of another. read more

First visit to Pasta Avest was a really pleasant experience. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Penne at the recommendation of our server. Tender chunks of chicken in a perfectly prepared dish of penne pasta served in a Gorgonzola cream sauce with just the right amount of buffalo sauce to enhance the favor without being too spicy! It was delightful! My wife had the chicken Marsala which was fresh, light, fork tender and flavorful rather than be in a heavy "gravy" type sauce. Their regular pizza looked good, whatever. This is about the gluten free pizza. It has a nice, crisp crust. It was good - good enough that my gluten eating Grandpa was happy to eat a piece with his regular pizza. The pepperoni were also delicious. read more

Yesterday was the first time I ordered from Pasta Avest. I ordered 2 items: Small Veggie Bomb pizza: $18.00 and a side of sausage: $6.50 priced according to the PDF menu on the website. The actual charges when ordering were increased: Small Veggie Bomb pizza: $21.75 Side of sausage: $7.95 ($5.20 more than expected) In addition there were 2 additional surcharges that took me by surprise: Small order fee: $1.99 extra Distance to deliver fee: $2.99 (I live near the High School!) ($4.98 more) Gratuity was automatically added but I was able to modify it to a lesser amount. Phew - an extra $10.18. Ouch. The Veggie pizza was just ok ....The side of sausage tasted dry. My total VISA bill was $42.21 which I think was costly for what I ordered. If you never ate there before I would encourage you to try it as there are many good reviews. 5/4/24 We had a party at the restaurant (upstairs). The staff (Sarah {owner} & Tyler{Mgr.}), were OUTSTANDING!!! Extremely easy to plan with re: food selections, amounts of food, set up of room to accommodate our guests (30) & checking on us during the event. Sarah came upstairs w/ hot fried dough w/ Nutella drizzle which were amazing & unexpectedly, decided to walk around to serve our guests at the tables! Sarah & Tyler were constantly checking in w/ my wife & I, when they came up to check on us. The room was spacious & VERY clean. It was decorated w/ our choice of linen tablecloths. We were allowed to come in the night before & decorate for our event. The upstairs also had its own restroom. This was appreciated as we had some older guests who needed assistance w/ stairs to 2nd floor. Sarah also assisted some guests w/ their walkers. Food was accessible to ALL in an orderly manner to keep guests flowing. The food was DELICIOUS! We had several types of panini's (halved), stuffed breads, 2 types of pasta, & garlic/cheese rolls. We were allowed to bring our beverages in w/ coolers & it was much appreciated & saved us extra $. Overall, we will be back as will many of our guests, who LOVED the experience at this restaurant. Pizzaiolo Luis makes a great pizza!! We got to see him making a few pizzas and it was a real treat watching the whole process. You'll find Wood-Fired Neapolitan, New Haven & Sicilian Style Pizza at Pasta Avest and Pizzeria and they're not just pasta and pizza. They've got Subs, Paninis, Italian Classics & Fresh Salads too! The Buffalo Chicken pizza was one of my favorites! I really enjoyed their bread pudding and cookies too! The owners and staff are so friendly and there is such an at home feel when you walk through the door. We had a blast and if you're in the Guilford area, don't sleep on Pasta Avest. Pasta Avest is an adorable spot where you'll feel like family as soon as you walk in the door! One of our favorite parts about the menu was the ability to customize your own pasta dish from a variety of pastas, sauces, and proteins. I wish more places did this! I also thought it was unique that Pasta Avest offers New Haven, Neapolitan, and Sicilian style pizzas. You don't typically see a place offer all three, and it's nice that to have a selection to choose from! The pesto cream sauce is out of this world, and so is their house made focaccia bread. I could eat both all day long! If you're coming in for a quick bite, you can grab a slice at the counter, or one of their prepped meals or salads. YUMMY!!! Stopped at this place while driving up Rt 95. It's conveniently located off the highway. It's a cute little place. Had a broccoli rabe sandwich with fresh mozzarella and substituted the sausage for chicken cutlet. It was delicious beyond words. I love rabe and it was done perfectly with a little garlic. The cutlets were pounded thin before they were fried. My husband had the rabe sandwich and stuck with the sausage and loved it. My kids had pizza and the bbq Rudy sandwich. All were amazing. Service was great - we were greeted with a warm welcome. On my next journey to NJ I will definitely be stopping back. I love an authentic Italian place. read more

I have had Pasta Avest on my list to try for awhile now and so happy I did! For starters, they offer pizza by the slice which is hard to find on the shoreline. I grabbed a Sicilian and thought it was tasty! We also got two small trays catered. Easy to order and easy ready at the time we requested. So happy this place is under new ownership! First time here since the change 6 weeks ago and did not leave disappointed! The bread on the eggplant parm was absolute perfection, soft with a flaky crust. The eggplant was thinly sliced and layered in just the right amount. The penne vodka was nicely balanced and the fried mozz was fresh and flavorful. Be sure to grab a cookie on the way out. Huge semisweet chocolate chips all over and perfectly gooey in the inside. While visiting old friends in Guilford, we decided to try this pizza place. Holy schnikes it was great. I'm from the south and really enjoyed this style of pizza, even better than the few slices I wound up having in NYC.ourpasta salad was great, the penne heated up nicely, and the arancini and meatballs hit the spot. Arancini are best fresh. Maybe get an order while you wait to pick up your food like I did. Best part? Thus is a cute, family-run business and the owners were so sweet. So I work in the area only a few times a year and i always come here for my salads. They have a salad bar with fixings I like and my big salad with all the chicken, veggies and cheese I want is always between 8-9 bucks. I'm used to new haven prices so this is cheap! They have premade ones that looked good as well for only 8.99. I cant attest to the other items though but my coworkers come with me everytime and their pizza and sandwiches always look good... read more

Granted, I have not been to the actual Pasta Avest, but I did recently sample a piece of their fabulous stuffed bread. Last Wednesday, a few of us had a pre-Thanksgiving gathering at Stony Creek Brewery and we each brought a little something to share and snack on (in a Friendsgiving sort of fashion). Someone brought a Pasta Avest Buffalo Chicken and Gorgonzola stuffed bread that they had just picked up on their way over. THIS WAS REALLY HEAVENLY. Normally, when I think of Buffalo Chicken anything, I immediately think blue cheese, but this twist on it with the gorgonzola..AH! So delicious. We reserved the Avest Room for a high school sports team banquet. This was the second year we booked with Pasta Avest. Sarah was fantastic, organizing the event and providing a menu that met the budget. The evening went seamlessly and according to plan. Tyler could not have been more attentive to us. The food was both plentiful and delicious. I can't imagine a better venue for the banquet. While my son is graduating this spring, we have passed the torch to next year's families to plan the banquet. No doubt, it will be held in the Avest Room at Pasta Avest. read more

More like "Pizza Abest!" Truly excellent pizza. Seeing as how they clearly pride themselves on other Italian delicacies, I was just pleasantly surprised at how good the slices were. It's a little New Haven, a little New York. It's manageable enough to fold like the latter, but also has that very thin crust and blackened bottom that one should expect from the former. I just had a pepperoni slice, and a ham/pineapple slice. Boy are they big. Definitely worth whatever it is they're charging (probably around $4 a slice for the specialty pies). We ordered a full try for a family gathering, We thought we had ordered too much but we just couldn't stop eating it. in no time at all the eggplant was gone and we were the ones stuffed!
