Grand Banks has such a fun summer-in-NYC vibe. It honestly felt like being transported somewhere in Europe for a couple hours. The setting is beautiful, especially around sunset, and the colors/views make the whole experience feel really special. Drinks were great and the atmosphere is definitely what makes this place stand out. It can get busy, but that's expected. Such a good spot to bring friends or just enjoy being by the water.

I had seen Grand Banks on both TikTok and Instagram so it had made my list of places to visit, but didn't seem to fit into the plan when we laid it all out in the day. To my surprise, we were walking along, saw it and thought it would be great for a quick cocktail and maybe some oysters! We walked up without a reservation and they told us it would be a wait for a table or they could seat us at the oyster bar immediately (that was a win for us as we wanted to sit there anyways). We were seated right away but then ended up waiting forever to have a server bring water / take our drink order. We actually had to go ask if a server would be coming to which they said they'd send our server over shortly (it was a long time until she came). We ordered two cocktails from the menu along with a dozen oysters when the server did come but again, we had to wait forever (we watched people come in after us, order after us and get their drinks/ food before us). When everything came out, it all looked great! The drinks themselves were not very good (especially for the price) but the oysters and their presentation were phenomenal. We'd come back to enjoy more oysters and the fantastic views but otherwise wouldn't likely go back.

Ambiance is the star here. The rocking on the boat is a nice addition to the vibe over a drink and convo. I only had a lobster roll and between my guest and I, we had 5 drinks. Our bill? $240. Worth the tab? For me, no, but I would enjoy a drink here again. They do have bathrooms downstairs.

If you're looking for a beginning of the summer or end of the summer vibes or a nice cute dinner with a sunset and view, check this place out. The food was okay. We ordered fries, picked veggies, scallops, champagne oysters and a lobster roll. The service was also very quick.

One of the most perfect outdoor dining locations with stunning NYC backdrop. If you catch great weather, this place offers a limited yet delicious menu and cocktails for a late afternoon or early evening meal. The staff is super friendly. Perfect Al fresco dining spots

Amazing place for a bite to eat or just a drink at one of their two big bars. Views were spectacular, food was delicious and service was great. Super dog friendly too!

Definitely a great 'on-the-water' experience without having to book a charter. The staff were great! It was a perfectly wavy-rolling afternoon to hang out & have some oysters & drinks & experience the sunset together. The people watching was great (constant joggers!). The oysters were clam-sized. The TROPICÁLIA was so good!! Definitely a very convenient on the water experience!!

The ambiance is as euro summer you can get in NYC. The prices are on the higher side - to be expected. But you can't beat the atmosphere and quick "getaway" from the city.

Grand Banks is always a vibe with a beautiful setting, perfect for a summer evening on the water. The oysters were plump and juicy, and the lobster roll was generously filled and full of flavor. We also ordered the scallops, burrata, and crudo, though the crudo never made it to the table so we ended up canceling it. The scallops were well-cooked but a bit too spicy for my taste. The burrata was fresh and nicely balanced. For dessert, we tried the key lime mousse, which was a bit of a letdown. I expected more of a traditional pie, but it turned out to be tangy cream in a glass with blueberry compote and graham cracker crumbs. Still, the setting and overall experience were lovely. Worth it for the views and cocktails, and I'd come back to try a few more dishes

Wow! I was amazed by the views of this place! It was right on the water, views of lady liberty, jersey city and of course the nyc skyline. It was so quiet and so nice to just relax and sip champagne on the water. It was a bit on the pricey side, especially for the quality of the food. I thought it was good but everything on the menu was something you could get anywhere. The service was good, although we had to flag down someone for a glass of champagne and the check at the end. Other than that it was a fantastic time. I definitely recommend this place and will probably be coming back again. Pros: views!!! Ambiance for sure, food was yummy, staff was nice. Cons: had to wave over a waiter twice, there was nothing on the menu that they were known for.

Very unique restaurant on a boat in the water. You can feel the boat moving so keep that in mind if you get seasick. The food was all fresh and good but they have decreased the portion sizes of some dishes. I.e scallops only have 4 instead of the 5-6 from last year. Definitely more of a lighter portion. You're definitely paying extra for the view and unique atmosphere. Izzy is a super nice hostess and goes above and beyond for you! Manager was nice too when we had a mix up with our food and drinks.

First time here and I absolutely loved it. This place is so cool and such a unique experience. Heads up, if you get seasick, it might not be for you since the boat definitely rocks a bit. The atmosphere and service were both great. I sat at the bar and had an Aperol Spritz, which you can tell they make hundreds of a day, it was perfect. Didn't try the food this time but will definitely be back. Really such a fun and creative concept.

What's the difference between indoor seating and dining when making a reservation? I'm a little confused.

Hi Lilian, Indoor seating refers to our pilot house. It is a small room on the boat where the Captain would stand to steer the boat. It is a quaint room with banquette seating and porthole windows. It's important to understand that while we prop the…

Does the boat move? Spouse is seasick but we love oysters and would love the view.

    The boat does not move.

    Is there a Bathroom?

There sure is. It's downstairs on the boat. Watch your step.

Does this include a cruise or stay docked?

    Stays docked. No cruise.

Are they requiring proof of vaccination? From what I'm seeing on the website, only for the captain's table.

I went mid September and we brought our vaccine cards but they did not ask to see them. The captain's table is in an enclosed space whereas the other tables are all outside, so I imagine that's why. I hope you go, it's such a great place!

Can I get food if I am at Cocktail bar? Or food other than oysters if at Oyster bar?

At the cocktail bar you can get absolutely anything which is what I did. It was the perfect place to sit in my opinion because it's located more near the center of the boat whereas the oyster bar is closer to one end. I'm not sure if the oyster bar…

Do u have any dress code? We made our reservation for 2, does the deposit apply to our bill at the end?

We do not have a dress code. Wear what makes you happy! As for the deposit, yes, it is applied to…

Do they have walk in right now? Or is it reservation only?

Even if you can't get a reservation... you can walk up up.. if you are smartly dressed, and polite etc you may get in. That's what we did...

    Are (small well-behaved) dogs allowed?

Yes they are pet friendly. See link below.…

Best seating area for two people and best time to go?

    How is parking?

There is limited street parking on the northbound lane of West St. and an Icon parking garage on Greenwich St. just south of N. Moore St.

    Is there a dress code?

    There is no dress code.

    Any oyster happy hour?

    No that I know of

Will my reservation be cancelled if it rains/potential thunder?

They have the complete info on their site (copied the link below). But yes, since it's completely outdoors/on a boat they do have to close sometimes. They usually make that call day of or even a few hours before since the weather can be so…

    Okay to bring my kids?

We're very happy to have kids aboard. We bring ours and many of our guests bring theirs. That said, we are on a boat, and children should be supervised.

    What are your brunch hours?

10am to 2pm on Saturday and Sunday

Any proper dress code? Jeans ok?

    Jeans are ok. Very casual

    Is Grand Banks pet friendly?

    Yes!

Is this open to under 21? Even for food?

Hi Alana! As there's no ID check at the entrance, everybody can board this stationary boat but the person can order soft drinks only, which is logical...

Is there indoor seating? Will it get cold at night at this time of year?

There is both indoor and outdoor seating.

The ambiance feels straight of the golden age, which is an aesthetic I'm certainly a sucker for. Even their robust cocktail menu fits the bill and is one of the prettiest menus I've ever had the joy of perusing. Staff was able to sit us a little bit ahead of our reservation which was also much appreciated. Wait staff was also very helpful and attentive, I don't think I've ever had my water glass so topped off! Starting off with cocktails, this place is a gin bar through and through and you'd be making a mistake if you didn't try one of their many options. I went with the 10,000 words, which you simply just give a spirit of your choice (I picked gin of course) and whether you antes) wanted your drink shaken or stirred and the bartender does the rest, so a bit of a surprise! I wound up with their version of The Last Word which was delightfully citrusy but I was hoping I'd wind up with something a little more adventurous app things considered. My girlfriend got the blackberry G&T, which was not only very pleasing to look at but delicious to boot. For food, we started with splitting some zucchini blossoms and beef cheek bao buns (both come in portions of 3). Both were tasty, but I love a good bao bun and these were so light and pillowy, I could have just went for an order of those for my main course. For the entree I went for the roasted half chicken, perhaps the most unassuming choice on the menu but this was maybe the best roast chicken I've ever had. Prepared perfectly, cooked to perfection, excellent portion size, and the kicker of it all was the stunning gravy that I was tempted to lick my plate for. Chicken is very easy to screw up, and they nailed it on all fronts here. My girlfriend went for the Valerie Signature burger with white cheddar and this thing did not mess around! A very rich patty, cooked to her temperature of choice served alongside some garlic truffle fries that made an American classic feel just a little more elevated. Our experience was delightful and I'd love to comeback here again, especially to check out more of the cocktail menu and soak in more of that golden age aura the place gives.

Calling him a bartender almost feels like an understatement--he's a true cocktail craftsman. I was amazed watching him create drinks based simply on a few words or flavors we mentioned. The Clover Club and Gimlet were both perfectly executed, and my husband tried three different whiskey cocktails throughout the evening and loved every single one. The atmosphere is exactly what you hope for from a speakeasy: dark, intimate, and unassuming. The space is small, which adds to the experience, although the bar stools are definitely not designed for settling in for a three-hour hang (my only minor complaint). But honestly, that probably helps keep the experience moving and allows more people to enjoy this special spot. Attaboy is a great example of why NYC has such a legendary cocktail scene. The drinks, the craftsmanship, and the personal attention make it clear why this place gets so much attention. We'll absolutely be back.

The concept is simple: tell the bartenders what type of liquor and flavors you enjoy, and they create a custom cocktail just for you. I think it helps to go in with a few ideas, but if you give them some creative freedom, they can really surprise you. I honestly cannot remember all the ingredients in my drinks, but I do remember loving every sip. Such a unique spot and a fun experience. Definitely small inside so you may have to wait awhile. I only wish I lived closer!

I didn't know what to expect but I loved the Broadway show and I'm always down for immersive events. So I arrived at the Press Room and saw that there was a bar with a couple of tables surrounding it. It seems to be where the kitchen is for all the wonderful food that Alamo provides during the in-dining movie experience. I had to approach the bartender to find out where exactly this party was and he instructed me to look beyond the large curtain to the side just as if I were searching for the Wizard of Oz. As I tugged myself behind the curtain, I walked into a decent-sized room and with balloons and the words, "Welcome to Emerald City" in the front of the room with a DJ playing today's hits and of course, songs from the Wizard Broadway show. At first, I thought this was going to be a dance party but soon realized that it was going to be a craft party instead. There was a station for making your own broom, one to make a friendship bracelet, and another one for letter writing along with sealed wax to use on the envelope with different stamps. I sipped away an Old-Fashioned in my souvenir Wicked cup while singing along to the Wicked soundtrack and making a friendship bracelet for my daughter. This experience was relaxing and joyful so now I know my type of party consists of a craft night. Close to the end of the night, I participated in a Wicked costume contest. I lost but nevertheless, I had a good time. Ended the night with an order of burger before heading home to show off my creations. I can't wait to check out their other events and come here again!

Nice selection of alcohol, friendly bartenders and attentive service. Since it was tucked away it wasn't as crowded and I was able to spend an hour catching up with my friend and it wasn't overly crowded or loud.

Mood lighting, comfortable seating, great drinks in a cozy and Victorian-inspired space are the perfect blend of unique and. I always felt like I was part of something special the few times enjoyed creative, delicious, and strong libations from the pros at the bar. While it has always been pricey, I do feel like the excellent service ambiance, and drink quality warrant this, but may prevent more folks from becoming regulars so to speak. I could tell you to look for the blue beaker sign that says "Chemist" but the better tell is the random guy sitting on a stool outside. He'll be the only person on the street, so no worries about missing him! The menu has changed over the years, but the quality has not. The bartenders are social and personable. And the prices are in line for the area. My bestie and I loved the vibe. One of the best speakeasies she's had the pleasure of experiencing. Don't miss out on this place!
